Ned didn't have many things — just a few boxes of clothes, some books, and a few personal items.
Con enthusiastically came over to help, while Sandy stood nearby giving directions. The children ran happily around the garden.
"Daddy, are you really moving in to live with us?" Hale hugged Ned's leg and asked excitedly. "Does that mean I'll see you every day from now on? Will you sleep with me at night?"
"Yes, you'll see me every day. If you want, I'd be very happy to sleep with you."
Hale beamed, showing his two little tiger teeth.
That evening, the whole family threw a small party to celebrate Ned joining them.
Con ordered pizza, Sandy made a large salad, and everyone ate with great joy.
"Come on, a toast to our new life!" Con raised his beer glass excitedly.
Everyone raised their glasses together. "To our future new life!"
Ned sat beside Sophie, holding her hand as he looked around at the full house. "I'm so happy. This is what real life feels like."
