Sophie was stunned. "Only my name?"
Ned's tone was calm as he held Sophie's hand. "This is your and the children's home. I'm just living here. If one day you don't want me anymore, I'll move out, and the house will still be yours."
Tears welled up in Sophie's eyes. "Why are you saying something like that? You'll always be the children's father."
"I'm just telling the truth," Ned said, turning her body to face him. "Darling, I want to be with you not because you need me, but because I need you. I've always known that even without me, you can live very well. But I don't want to lose you."
Sophie's tears fell uncontrollably.
She remembered six years ago, standing alone in America, pregnant, with no income and no help. Yet she had never once considered not having the triplets.
Thanks to Con and Sandy's help, she had managed to work while raising the children.
Life had always been harsh. She had to work much harder than others to reach where she was today.
