**Chapter 30: The Terrifying Yae Miko**
Wait, the Raiden Shogun's Heart should have been entrusted to Yae Miko for safekeeping before the Raiden Shogun secluded herself in the Plane of Euthymia.
What if I went directly to the Raiden Shogun and asked her to order Yae Miko to give me the Heart?
Ah... that probably wouldn't work either.
While the Raiden Shogun might be a bit naive, the Raiden Shogun's puppet is anything but.
Jingchen recalled facing the Raiden Shogun's Musou no Hitotachi several times.
He could withstand one strike.
But what about two, three, or four? Would he be reduced to mere fragments of an Executor?
The faint snores of Columbina beside him and the sound of the waves pulled Jingchen back to reality.
He had expected the ship to dock near Ritou, as it had before the Vision Hunt Decree was enacted.
Instead, the ship sailed far past Ritou, heading straight for Watatsumi Island.
"Liudashika, wasn't our ship supposed to stop at Ritou?"
"Lord Jingchen, Lord Scaramouche said Ritou would be under surveillance. Watatsumi Island is safer."
Jingchen paused, slightly taken aback. That Scaramouche had actually investigated him, knowing exactly where he least wanted to go.
Jingchen had once been dispatched by that sly fox, Yae Miko, to oversee operations at the Hazy Moon Branch on Watatsumi Island for a time.
Back then, the island's divine priestess was Kokomi's mother—a woman as terrifyingly cunning as Yae Miko herself.
Whether it was her or the common folk of Watatsumi Island, from the highest to the lowest, they all harbored deep hostility toward anyone from Narukami Island.
Even though Jingchen wasn't from Narukami Island, they would find endless ways to make his life miserable.
Forced to retreat, he eventually returned north to Liyue to resume his duties as the Acting Tianshu Star.
"Watatsumi Island? Let's turn around and head straight to Ritou."
"Ah? Lord Jingchen, but..."
Jingchen had no desire to visit Watatsumi Island, especially since the Kanjou Bugyou's inspection teams were stationed at Ritou.
But with the Hiiragi Clan—infiltrated by the Fatui—controlling the Kanjou Bugyou, what did he have to fear?
"Who in Ritou would dare monitor me? Let's dock early. Columbina and I are both exhausted."
"Very well, Lord Jingchen."
The ship eventually docked at Ritou. Jingchen carefully carried Columbina ashore on his back.
Liudashika led them to a lavish Inazuman residence where they could rest.
***
Beneath the Sacred Sakura Tree stood a woman with pink hair, delicate fox ears, and a face of peerless beauty.
She was Yae Miko, the Guuji of the Grand Narukami Shrine.
Beside her trembled Sayu, paralyzed by fear.
Yae Miko smiled faintly.
His elemental energy was always so distinctive, easily discernible among thousands, even tens of thousands.
Ice like the moon, moonlight like splendor—that was him.
*So, that fellow has finally returned to Inazuma.*
*Now things won't be so boring.*
In her centuries of life, he had been the most extraordinary person she had ever encountered.
A man who dared to confess his feelings directly to her, unafraid.
The memories of teasing him, of their push-and-pull relationship, were truly precious.
Though she felt a twinge of regret now, that small regret might stretch and twist endlessly through the eons, eventually morphing into boundless remorse.
*This time, I'll keep him here forever.*
*Of course, he won't refuse. If he does... hehe.*
*Before Ganyu arrives, let's unleash the Thunderous Wabi-Sabi.*
Yae Miko's eerie, oppressive smile made Sayu feel as if the end of the world was upon her.
She dared not move, let alone doze off.
The shrine maiden had told her that Lady Yae Miko had summoned her personally for an urgent matter. Sayu, who had initially planned to escape by feigning sleep, ultimately chose to arrive at the Grand Narukami Shrine on time. After all, Yae Miko was truly terrifying—utterly terrifying.
Sayu trembled, stammering, "Lady Yae Miko... what, what do you want me to do?"
"Oh, just keep an eye on someone."
Sayu blinked in surprise. *Monitor someone?! More overtime? Ugh, how annoying. I won't even get to nap properly.*
Still, she decided to try and wriggle out of it.
"Monitor someone? Lady Yae Miko, I'm a ninja of the Endo Clan. Without orders from the Shogunate, I... I can't really do that."
"Oh? This isn't part of your Endo Clan duties. Strictly speaking, it's more of a... personal project."
The words "personal project" sent a chill down Sayu's spine. *She's trying to get free labor without even reimbursing the Endo Clan?!*
*Damn it, this fox is so shady.*
Yae Miko tossed Sayu a painting.
Sayu stared in shock.
A silver ponytail, crimson eyes, and a Cryo Vision.
She immediately recognized it wasn't the former deputy priestess of the Grand Narukami Shrine.
*Jingchen? The one who was close to the Kamisato siblings and the previous clan head?*
"Ah?! Lady Yae Miko, isn't this... isn't this your deputy priestess?"
Yae Miko smiled faintly.
"He's currently at the Snezhnaya Provisional Office in Ritou. Go."
Sayu was dumbfounded.
*Snezhnaya?! The Fatui... Ugh. More trouble. Looks like I won't be able to slack off for days.*
*How annoying.*

A few hours later, Sayu, her heart pounding with anxiety, arrived at Jingchen's temporary residence, as instructed by Yae Miko.
Layers of Fatui and Kanjou Bugyou guards patrolled the perimeter.
These guards posed no challenge to Sayu, who effortlessly blended in by transforming into various everyday objects.
She crept toward the inner chamber.
When she reached Jingchen's window, she carefully reverted to her original form and tiptoed closer.
To her surprise, the room was empty except for a strange, floating teapot.
(Not everyone knows about the Serenitea Pot, a mystical artifact. For the sake of this narrative, let's assume Sayu is unfamiliar with it.)
She stared around, her face etched with confusion.
*No one's here? What's the point of guarding an empty room?!* Sayu muttered, her frustration growing.
But she couldn't turn back now and tell Lady Yae Miko that she'd come to the designated spot to monitor it, only to find nothing but a bizarre floating teapot.
The terrifying Lady Yae Miko would surely make her—
The thought sent shivers down Sayu's spine. Seizing the moment when the Fatui and Kanjou Bugyou guards shifted positions, she slipped into the inner chamber, hid in a corner, and transformed into a wooden barrel.
Hours passed, but still no one appeared.
She began to reassure herself.
*Hmm, I've been waiting so long, and no one's shown up. Lady Yae Miko told me to monitor this place, right? But it's completely empty. Maybe I can take a short nap? It shouldn't hurt, right?*
And so, the wooden barrel began to emit faint snores.
