Chapter 13 - The Broken Heart Of The Ruthless One Arc 3 Chapter: Fire, Blood and moon light

Chapter 13 — Fire, Blood, and Moonlight

The night burned.

Flames swallowed the trees, the earth cracked beneath the heat, and smoke painted the moon in a dull crimson glow.

Three giant humanoid figures stood in the middle of the chaos — their bodies covered in strange markings that glowed faintly blue through the firelight.

Jin Yuan, Musukoni, and Yusikuna faced them down — outnumbered, outmatched, but unyielding.

Yusikuna kept launching arrows that exploded into flame on impact, lighting up the night as if the stars themselves were falling. Each shot only slowed the monsters for a second.

> "Jin Yuan," Musukoni said, panting heavily, his twin daggers dripping blood. "We should pull back. These three... they're stronger than us."

Before Jin Yuan could answer, one of the giants swung its massive arm like a hammer.

The blow sent Musukoni flying. He hit a tree hard enough to splinter it in two.

> "Musukoni!"

Blood trickled from the corner of his mouth as he groaned.

> "My arm... and ribs... they're broken..."

Jin Yuan's eyes turned cold.

He leapt high into the air, his giant katana glinting in the firelight.

In a single, fluid motion, the blade sliced through the neck of the nearest giant. Its head hit the ground with a heavy thud, rolling through the burning grass.

> "Stay down," Jin Yuan said quietly.

Yusikuna landed beside him, drawing another arrow. Flames reflected in his wild eyes.

> "Can you still fight?" he asked Musukoni.

> "I... don't know," Musukoni admitted, clutching his side.

> "Then stay here," Jin Yuan said firmly. "I'll handle it."

Before either could react, one of the remaining giants appeared behind Yusikuna.

A blade of bone shot clean through his chest.

His bow fell from his hand. His body went limp.

> "YUSIKUNA!!"

Jin Yuan spun, rage surging through him. He charged forward, his katana clashing against the bone weapon with a deafening clang. Sparks flew, mixing with the fire and ash swirling in the air.

He fought like a shadow through flame — silent, precise, unstoppable.

Every movement carried both fury and focus.

The district — once alive with festival lights and laughter — was now a graveyard of fire and smoke. Burned stalls collapsed around them, their fabric glowing orange as they fell.

But Jin Yuan didn't stop.

Even surrounded by flames, his expression stayed calm. His breathing steady.

He studied their movements, their reach, their weaknesses.

> "There's always... a flaw," he muttered. "No matter how powerful you are."

And with that, he readied his blade again — eyes reflecting both the moon... and the inferno below it.
