Chapter 14 – The Best Fireworks
Jin Yuan kept fighting the two giant humans, their blows shaking the ground and tearing apart everything around them. The once lively district had turned into a burning wasteland under the pale blue moon.
Each swing of Jin Yuan's massive katana sent shockwaves through the air. Yet, as his blade clashed against the giants' thick skin, something inside his mind began to blur.
Memories…
A woman's gentle voice calling his name for breakfast.
A mother's laughter.
A home filled with warmth.
Then—darkness.
Then—red.
Jin Yuan gritted his teeth and shook his head violently.
"Keep fighting," he muttered, forcing his thoughts back to the battlefield.
He leapt high into the air, the moonlight glinting off his blade. The two giants roared, their fury burning brighter than the fires around them. One of them caught Jin Yuan midair and hurled him down. He hit the ground hard, coughing blood, vision fading.
When it seemed over—
An arrow streaked through the sky. Then another. And another.
Yusikuna had risen again. His chest was bloodied, his breathing rough, but his eyes still burned with defiance.
He fired six arrows into the air at once. They ignited mid-flight, scattering flames like falling stars.
The fire spread instantly. The remaining fireworks materials caught flame, exploding across the night.
The entire sky lit up—red, gold, blue, white—fireworks bursting in a storm of color.
Yusikuna smiled faintly.
"Hah… this is the best fireworks show," he said, before staggering to one knee.
One of the giants lunged from behind to crush him—
But before it could strike, Musukoni appeared, his twin daggers flashing. Even with broken ribs and a shattered arm, he fought with wild strength. His eyes blazed like a beast's.
He slashed through the air, driving the giant back.
"You're right, Yusikuna," he said with a grin. "The best fireworks."
The three of them—Jin Yuan, Yusikuna, and Musukoni—fought side by side beneath the burning sky. Every strike lit the air with sparks and flames. Every move was a flash of willpower refusing to die.
And when the dust finally settled, when the night fell silent, the flames still danced over the ruins—marking the end of the battle, and the beginning of something Jin Yuan could no longer ignore.
