Chapter 32—Fight! Fight!
Just after flying for a few seconds, Slime#47's body turned back from blue flames into a jelly blob.
'Damn… it drains mana fast,' he thought, his body wobbling as he fell from the sky—exhaustion hit him.
Thud!—But he didn't hit the ground; Elder Slime caught him and warned, "Be careful. Always check your mana reserves."
'Yeah… I can't let this happen in a real fight,' he thought, feeling lucky.
-----
The next day—Thud!—Thud!—the woman's footsteps echoed through the field as the barrier was removed.
"Now…" Elder Slime shouted, glancing at the young slime.
He nodded to the old slime and—Wob!—leaped over the fence to the next farm.
Thud!
He landed on the ground and took in the view of bouncing slimes—Wob!—Wob!
"Whoa!… Who are you?" A slime—wob!—bounced over to him and asked, checking him with bright, gleaming eyes.
"I'm Slime#47—human's given name. And you?" the young slime asked back, gazing at the blue blob who had already turned into a follower.
"I'm Slime#4, named by humans… So how did you turn crimson?" Slime#4 inquired, mouth wide open.
"I evolved…" the young slime replied. 'Looks like this guy luckily gained intellect,' he mused, as the other slimes in the farm just bounced—Wob!—Wob!—like idiots.
"Boss, boss, teach me how to evolve!" Slime#4 begged, eyes sparkling like stars.
"Boss?… Yeah… I gained a follower," the young slime muttered, then said softly, "I'll call you Little Slime from now—"
But he couldn't finish before Little Slime shouted in joy, "And I'll call you Boss Slime!"
The young slime's eyes twitched.
Wob!—Little Slime hugged him and rubbed against him affectionately. "Boss Slime, Boss…"
'Great… I've acquired a clingy pet,' the young slime thought irritably.
He'd leapt over the right‑side fence just to escape the slime owners after evolving his race.
Anyone would spot an anomaly at a glance: a red slime in the middle of blue slimes.
'…Tomorrow… the day…' he thought, glancing at the black sun in the sky.
He still spiked the garbage for the day. It wouldn't affect his battle power for tomorrow.
Wob!—Wob!
He spent a few hours suffering under Little Slime's clinginess—being hugged from every angle and scrutinized from all sides "just to see what's different."
'There it is… the mana ripple again.' He relaxed as the transparent barrier stitched itself over the farm.
Ever since he gained the ability to sense mana particles, he could detect the barriers as well.
"Little Slime… wanna follow me?" he asked, eyes narrowing, grin slightly creepy.
Little Slime let go in shock—Wob!—and asked nervously, "Where?"
"To the next field," he said, smiling. 'Elder Slime… I found you a new student,' his grin widened.
"Okay…" Little Slime agreed, still trembling.
Wob!—Wob!—Slime#47 picked Little Slime up with his tiny hands and leapt back over the fence—
Back to his field…..
"Elder, I brought you a new student…" the young slime said joyfully, pointing to the little slime, "You can train him."
Old Slime nodded with a grin. "Good, another slime with intellect."
"Who are you? I'm Little Slime," the newcomer said, introducing himself. He went by the name given to him by his Boss slime.
He wasn't nervous about Elder Slime, since the elder was just a regular blue blob like any slime.
"Little Slime…" Elder Slime glanced at the young slime and introduced himself, "Very well… you can call me Elder Slime."
Wob!—A blue blob fell beside Little Slime and introduced herself, "And you can call me Mama Slime…"
-----
The day the young slime had been waiting for finally arrived…
The sun rose into the sky, illuminating the world with black rays.
"Mama Slime, place a trap over there…" the young slime said, pointing below the fence.
"Earth Trap…" Mama Slime cast the spell, placing her tiny palms on the ground where he indicated.
A brown magic rune flashed briefly, then vanished.
"Everything's ready…" Elder Slime said, giving the signal.
They hid near the corners of the entrance—old slime on one side, Mama Slime and the young slime on the other.
"Double Presence Hide!" Slime#47 used the skill, covering himself in the aura and pointing his tiny right palm toward a corner of the fence. A small orb of aura floated from his hand and settled there.
"So that's how it is…" he muttered, realizing he could sense a person's signature from the orb.
Double Presence Hide didn't just hide presence—it faked another presence somewhere else, giving double insurance.
"Mama Slime…" he whispered, glancing at the blue blob who had also erased her presence.
In this loop, he'd insisted Elder Slime teach her Hide skill, since they'd figured out the red‑haired woman could sense mana.
Little Slime, however, was confused, glancing at them doubtfully as he bounced with the others.
But he didn't go near them because Elder Slime had warned him. "He's so scary…" Little Slime muttered.
Just one day of Elder Slime's training was enough for him to understand: the most dangerous one wasn't the red slime—it was the old slime.
----
A few seconds later—Thud!—Thud!
"They're here," Elder Slime warned like always, but this time the young slime had already sensed them before the call, as he cast, "Fireball!"
Gzz!
Thud!—The moment the burly man stepped in—Whoosh!—a flaming sphere slammed into his face like a burning boulder.
Thud!—He dropped to the ground, dead with the scorched face.
"6&ggv!" the armored woman yelled as another burly man rushed in.
"Fire Lance!" Elder Slime cast a lance of flames that—Whoosh!—rushed straight at the man's face.
Gzz!
The spell hit dead‑on. Half the man's head liquefied, skull steaming beneath it, before—Thud!—he dropped dead.
"tg^^&!" the woman roared in anger and—Whoosh!—leapt over the fence. But this time, the young slime was waiting, and his trick worked.
She landed exactly where he'd placed his Double Presence Hide orb.
She was about three meters away from him.
"Fire Vortex!" he didn't waste a single moment, casting his strongest spell.
Whooo!
A burning orange vortex of flame rose from the ground at the woman's feet.
Gzz!
The vortex flared three meters high and about a meter wide.
Gzz!
The flames burned violently.
