Chapter 14 - A Killer’s Language-ACT SEVEN

Marcus stood near Lucia Maren, exchanging small, knowing smiles. The atmosphere was light, but between them, there was something more—an unspoken understanding, a bond that had grown stronger throughout the mission. They didn't need words to acknowledge it; their eyes said enough. Even in the chaos and danger of their world, there was something undeniable between them—a connection that transcended the role of mere teammates.

The group seemed blissfully happy. Some danced, others chatted loudly, their laughter echoing in the room as they basked in the success of the mission. But none of them knew that the true danger was already closing in.

The client who had hired them—who had carefully orchestrated the assassination from the shadows—had made up his mind. He wanted to erase all evidence of the mission, and that meant eliminating the group.

From the very beginning, the client had planned every detail. He had wanted them to kill the politician, but he never intended for them to remain a threat. The translator, the key to their communication, was now the client's primary target. Without the translator, the group would be unable to communicate properly—without shared understanding, mistakes would be inevitable, their focus would slip. Chaos would take root. And in that chaos, the client knew the group would crumble.

The mirror shifted again. Suddenly, the attackers stormed in, guns blazing. The celebration turned to chaos in an instant. Shots rang out, and the group scrambled to defend themselves, but they were caught off guard. The room, once filled with laughter, was now consumed by shouts and agony.

The translator was the first to fall, hit by a bullet as he turned to shout instructions. He collapsed instantly; the life gone from his eyes before he even hit the ground. His voice, the bridge between them all, was silenced in an instant.
