Chapter 20 - A Guilt That Caused Insomnia After Death-ACT ONE

Ethan stood silently in the ritual room with a sense of relief upon completing his first task. His eyes fixed on the sorcerer filled with even more questions and surrealness upon experiencing something outside of this world.

In his mind he thought "I just walked in someone else's shoes in their life, and I made a meaningful change in it." He still couldn't shake that feeling.

He thought to himself "Soul Walk, that's what I did, and that's what I have to endure to save my family and friends." The room felt calm, yet there was an air of mystery about what would happen next.

Suddenly, Ethan noticed a shift in the room. Marcus's coffin—once glowing orange—now shimmered a serene blue.

"So… Marcus's coffin changed color after I satisfied his story," he thought, eyes narrowing. "So, orange = unsatisfied and blue = satisfied, simple enough. If my hunch is right, I'll have to do this three more times. Turn each one blue. Then maybe—just maybe—I'll get my shot too."

He let the thought settle.

"Still… bit of a stretch to call it just yet. I need more information. The more I know, the better my chances—when it counts."

The Sorcerer looked at a distracted Ethan and gestured for him to come forward. Ethan stepped closer, his heart steady but filled with curiosity. He wondered what role he would have to play this time. The mirror stood at the center of the room, waiting to reveal the next story.

The Sorcerer raised his hand, telling the soul navigator to begin. The soul navigator moved carefully, sending ripples across the glowing mirror. Ethan watched closely as the mirror began to change.

The light in the mirror shifted, slowly forming an image. The Sorcerer spoke calmly. "This is the story of Soul 3. You will watch and decide which part you will act upon." His voice carried authority, making Ethan focus even more.

As the image in the mirror grew clearer, Ethan saw a large funeral gathering. People were dressed in black, standing around a grave. The atmosphere was heavy, filled with sorrow and respect.

The camera-like view in the mirror zoomed in on one man among the crowd. He was young, with a serious expression on his face. Ethan realized this man was Soul 3, a lawyer grieving the loss of his mentor—someone in the crowd had once called this young man Javier Ruiz. Even though it was Javier Ruiz (Soul 3), Ethan couldn't shake the eerie feeling that he was staring at a reflection of himself—one with different physical features.

Javier Ruiz's mentor was a senior lawyer named Antonio Serrano, respected by many in their community. Javier admired him deeply and saw him as a guiding figure in his life. Now that Antonio was gone, Javier was left with a feeling of emptiness.

The mirror showed Javier standing close to the grave. He held a bouquet of flowers in his hands. His eyes were downcast, filled with sadness. He placed the flowers gently on the grave, showing his respect and love for his mentor. Around him, other people whispered quietly. Some of them were family members of the deceased, while others were colleagues who had worked with the senior lawyer. Javier stayed silent, lost in his thoughts.

The scene in the mirror shifted slightly, showing more details of the funeral. Javier looked around at the people who had come to pay their respects. He felt comfort in their presence but still carried a deep sadness in his heart.
