Chapter 25 - A Guilt That Caused Insomnia After Death-ACT SIX

Javier left his office early that morning. He carried the report in a file, holding it in his hand. He felt a sense of hope as he walked, believing he was finally bringing justice to Finnian.

The assassins spotted him from a distance. "There he is," one of them whispered. They moved into position, their movements silent and precise. The tension in the air was thick.

The city was quiet, with only a few people around. He was focused on his goal, thinking about the impact his report would have. Javier was holding the report tightly in his hands. The sunlight felt warm on his face, but his mind was focused on the report. He imagined the impact it would have—the truth would finally come out, and the Finnian would be free.

Unbeknownst to Javier, danger followed him. The assassins, hired by the bullies, were hidden nearby. They watched him from the shadows, waiting for the perfect moment to strike. Their weapons were ready, and they were determined to complete their mission. Javier continued walking, unaware of the threat.

Javier turned the corner, and the assassins closed in. The narrow street was quiet, with no witnesses around. It was the perfect spot for an ambush, and they knew it. One of them stepped forward, blocking Javier's path. He raised his weapon, aiming directly at him. Javier froze, his heart racing. He realized he was in danger but didn't know how to react. "Hand over the report," the assassin demanded, his voice cold. Javier held the report tightly, refusing to let it go.

He knew this report was the key to justice, and he couldn't let it fall into the wrong hands. Javier turned quickly and began running. He hoped to escape and find safety, but the assassins were fast. They chased after him, their footsteps echoing loudly in the narrow street. Javier's heart pounded as he ran. He gripped the report tightly, determined to protect it at all costs. He knew the assassins wanted to destroy the evidence, and he couldn't let that happen.

One of the assassins caught up to him and grabbed his arm. Javier struggled, trying to break free. He pushed the assassin away and continued running, but he knew he couldn't outrun them forever. Another assassin stepped in front of him, blocking his path. Javier tried to fight back, using his strength to defend himself. He pushed and kicked, refusing to give up, but he was outnumbered.

The assassins surrounded him, their weapons raised. Javier fought with everything he had, but his strength was fading. He realized he couldn't escape, but he refused to let the report fall into their hands. One of the assassins struck him, causing him to stumble. Javier fell to the ground, his body weak and injured. He held the report close to his chest, still determined to protect it.

The leader of the assassins stepped forward, his face cold and unfeeling. He took aim and fired the fatal shot. Javier gasped, his strength leaving him. The report fell from his hands onto the ground. As Javier lay there, the assassins picked up the report, now stained with his blood. Javier had failed his mission—and with it, the truth was lost to the shadows.

The mirror showed Javier's final moments. His eyes were filled with regret, knowing he couldn't clear the Finnian's name. He whispered a silent apology, wishing he could have done more.

The assassins walked away, leaving Javier alone in the street. The mirror faded, returning to the ritual room. Ethan and the Sorcerer stood silently, watching the tragic end of Javier's life.

The mirror's glow faded, projecting Javier's tragic end. Silence filled the room as the weight of his unfulfilled mission pressed on Ethan.

A smirk played on the Sorcerer's lips. "You've seen his struggle, his regret. Now tell me, Soul 6—are you ready to embrace the next trial?"

The mirror flickered, revealing the orphan Finnian in prison, while bullies like Chase thrived.

Ethan tightened his fists. "I will bring justice for the Finnian. I will finish what Javier started."

The Sorcerer's smirk deepened. "A noble choice. But the path ahead won't be easy."

With a flick of his wrist, the mirror's glow intensified.

"Your task isn't just to follow the story Soul 6," the Sorcerer said. "You must remove the regrets of Soul 3." The room dimmed as the mirror shifted once more. Ethan inhaled sharply, his resolve set. The past weighed heavily, but his determination burned brighter.
