"Wait! There must be something wrong! Someone is scheming against me!" Anker was on the verge of tears. His face had already gone ghastly pale.
"Silence!" The Guild Master glanced at Anker. "You have already embarrassed us enough before our guest.'
Under the Guild Master's gaze, Anker felt like an invisible scythe was touching his neck. If he didn't stop speaking, he would actually lose his head.
He wasn't wrong either. Even though no one had touched Anker, a minor cut appeared on his neck. A small drop of blood trickled down his throat.
The Guild Master stopped paying attention to Anker who was dragged away by someone. Instead, the Guild Master shifted his focus to the so-called witness.
"It doesn't matter who threatened you. But it was because of your lies that some of our executives believed these clearly false accusations. Anker will suffer for that, but you... You can't be forgiven for that either."
The Guild Master snapped his fingers, and the middle aged man that had acted as Anker's witness started disintegrating. A black portal opened behind the middle aged man.
A large skeleton hand came out of the portal, and grabbed the man. The skeletal hand pulled the horrified middle aged man back inside the portal. His screams were cut short as the portal closed.
This was the first time that Leo had seen the Guild Master use his abilities. Even in the outside world, barely anything was known about this man's abilities.
The Guild Master was not ranked by the Tower. But even then, there were many rumours that he was strong enough to be ranked just below Blaze if his strength was measured.
Looking at the man's strange abilities, and his overwhelming aura, Leo couldn't doubt those rumours either.
Cold sweat formed on his back. Fortunately, he was wearing a thick jacket. Just as he thought, this place was a den of monsters where each monster was strong enough to kill his current self.
Despite that, Leo didn't feel the fear that he had imagined. Instead, there was a sense of indignation within his heart.
He hadn't lied to the scheme. It was the Guild that misunderstood everything and brought him here. And then, no matter his ulterior motives, he was considerate enough to not charge any contract signing fee.
All he asked for was a single contract that could ensure his safety. The terms of the contract clearly mentioned that the Guild wouldn't try to reverse engineer his recipe.
Not only did they reverse engineer it, but they even succeeded. Their success had brought him to death's door. He had survived by a hair's breadth and he still didn't clearly understand why his composition created that elixir while theirs didn't.
In any case, the Hero Guild had broken the contract within twenty four hours of his arrival. What could he be if not angry? Was this the worth of the promise that came from humanity's so-called defenders?
"I would like to officially apologize. I already knew that you weren't a scammer, but if I hadn't conducted this trial, many within the Tower would have kept their suspicions about you. This was the fastest way to prove your value to everyone."
The Tower Master reached out his hand towards Leo. Even within the Tower, barely a few heroes had the privilege of the Guild Master asking for a handshake, and Leo had become that person on his first day.
Within the colosseum, many heroes were looking with jealousy.
For some reason, the man's words came across as even more insulting after all this. A trial where his life and death was on the line, was for him to prove his worth? Was this a joke?
Even if it was by accident, he had saved Blaze's life. Even if he couldn't create any more such elixirs, just the previous stock that he had given to the Guild alone was enough to save the lives of many heroes.
After all that, they brought him here for this public mockery? He loved to have a large floor within the Hero Tower for himself.
It also made a lot of his future plans easier to accomplish. But was that really worth it when his life and death could be decided depending on the Guild Member's moods?
They had assigned an S Rank Guard for his safety from outsiders? But who was going to save him from those in control of the Hero Tower?
Leo looked at the Guild Master's hand, but he didn't reach out his hand.
"The contract is void."
He only said one sentence as he walked past the Guild Master, leaving him hanging.
It was a sentence consisting of only four words. It wasn't even said loudly, nor was any ability used to artificially enhance his voice. But his words still fell like thunder in the ears of heroes with heightened senses.
Even the Guild Master couldn't help but raise a brow. He didn't mind that Leo refused a handshake since it was normal to be angry in this situation, but he didn't think that this man would cancel a contract with the Hero Tower?
"I know that you are angry, but I had my reasons," the Guild Master tried to explain. "I can promise that something like this will never hap-"
His words were cut short by Leo who raised his voice for the first time. "Send me back!"
"I..."
The Guild Master was at a loss of words. He never expected such an outcome. Even if Leo was angry, shouldn't he let it go?
'He is angry right now. He probably doesn't understand what he's doing. If I give him some time to think about it, and then offer more credits and better conditions, he should let it go right? He is still young after all.'
The Guild Master let out a deep sigh, as he nodded. "Take him back. Our friend here needs rest."
Just as he finished speaking, the unknown force wrapped Leo and Lancer again. Their bodies rose in the air, before flying off in the direction they came from.
"Are we really letting him go?" Gaia watched Leo's figure disappear into the distance with Lancer.
"Young people are hot blooded. Given some time, he'll realize that cooperation with us is more beneficial than his little anger. He won't be going anywhere," the Guild Master said, but he didn't understand why an uncomfortable feeling had started rising within his heart.
