Leo was flown back to the barren land, far away from the colosseum. In the entire place, there was only desert, but in the middle of a desert, there was a closed lift door which stood out at this place.
Leo and Lancer landed before the lift which opened on its own, as if sending a presence. Leo entered the list, still maintaining his long silence.
"Are you really going to leave?" Lancer stepped inside the lift before the doors closed.
"Is there a reason I shouldn't?" Leo responded, as he pressed the button to his floor.
Lancer stared at Leo suspiciously, finding it a little hard to believe. Was this person really going to leave the most powerful organization on earth? Or was this also a scheme of his? He couldn't grasp the situation.
"I think it might be for the better." Lancer didn't really want Leo to stay behind, no matter how much his invention was helpful for the heroes.
Leo didn't know but Lancer had always seen him like a ticking time bomb. If he was here, then Lancer would always have to keep an eye on him. But if he left, he could finally be free.
"Hah, you don't like me much, do you?" Leo asked, his voice accompanied by the sound of the lift opening on the 769th floor.
Although Leo was actually very angry, that wasn't the entire reason for him to give up on the Hero Tower. It was more like a self preserving technique. If he left this place, then he wouldn't have to feel like he was walking over pins and needles.
Leo entered his room and started packing his bag even though there wasn't much to pack. He only had a few cheap clothes and some cutlery.
After packing his bags, Leo left his room. As it was his first day here, he hadn't become an official citizen of this island nation. In the city of heroes, he was still only considered a temporary guest as per the law.
If he wanted to leave this city, he needed help because the city was surrounded by ocean from every side. The Hero Tower could easily escort him out of the city, but at this moment, Leo didn't want to take any help from them.
He entered the lift, and used his key card for the last time. But before that, he didn't forget to send a message.
Lancer tried to peek over his shoulder to see who Leo had texted, but eventually he failed. He was filled with curiosity, standing behind Leo in the lift.
The lift brought Leo to the roof of the Hero Tower where multiple helipads were present. Most of them were occupied by the powerful ships of the Hero Tower, but there were a few that were empty.
Leo kept his back near one such helipad and started waiting for something, occasionally looking into the distant sky.
....
"What? He is actually leaving?" The Guild Master had just returned to his office when he received updates about Leo's actions.
"Is he trying to make a show of force since we need him?" He slammed the table, standing up in disbelief.
He thought that Leo would return to his room, and wait for them to approach him to offer better terms. Even if that wasn't the case, shouldn't he try to give them some time? What was he doing on the helipad already?
"Fine! Since you want compensation, I will offer you such compensation that even a fool would not be able to reject!"
The Guild Master contacted the Financial Department. However, it wasn't Kayla but her superior that was contacted.
This matter had reached the absolute top of the Financial Department since they were going to offer conditions that would make even the Top Ten Hero Contracts look inferior.
"Is he really worth offering so much?" The chubby leader of the Financial Department asked, taking a deep breath in that made his stomach shrink a little.
This was the first time he had seen such conditions. It even made him jealous of Leo.
The conditions were truly incredible. Leo was offered the same signing amount as Blaze, the face of Hero Tower! Not only that, but he was being promoted to the upper 900th Floor Lord.
If that was it, it would still be fine. But there was also a condition that if Leo could produce another unseen elixir in the next five years, he would be promoted to a Guild Executive!
What was a Guild Executive Position? It was a position that was just below the Tower Master. It was equal to three department heads.
Most of such positions were being held by the Leaders of the most powerful nations on earth. The rest of the seats were held by the top five heroes in the Tower.
Until now, no alchemist had been offered such positions. It wasn't wrong to say that even if an alchemist worked for decades in the Tower, creating one unique elixir after another, he would never come close to that position.
The Mana Overload Elixir was an important discovery, but it wasn't close enough to be given a position on parity with world superpowers.
After all, if enough executives wanted something, then even the Guild Leader would be forced to take action. Moreover, the Executive Seats were limited. If Leo received one, then someone else had to be removed.
To make Leo an executive, they would either have to remove the Leaders of the three strongest Empires on earth, or one of the top five heroes. Neither of that was an easy decision.
"I'm not sure yet. But it can't be denied that we need that elixir for now. You know that the galaxy has been quite turbulent recently."
"We can't lose talent like that. If it wasn't for those damn executives forcing me, we wouldn't be in this situation!"
The Guild Master let out a tired sigh, as he tossed his head back. Even though he was strong, he couldn't hold the entire world in one hand. He still had to follow the rules that were established by his predecessors.
If he broke such rules, then he didn't even want to imagine the outcome.
He ended the call, and looked at the violet marks on his wrist. "To think that even I would be so helpless. If it wasn't for these damned laws, I could've had everything I wanted without having to negotiate!"
