Chapter 46 - Chapter 46: Death's Target

Chapter 46: Death's Target

While the survivors on the original Death's list were enjoying their newfound peace, Chris was already annoyed by the continuous string of unfortunate events surrounding him.

Less than an hour had passed since he arrived in this world.

He had successively encountered a series of major disasters that could have killed an ordinary person several times over: a pickup truck losing control, an electric shock while showering, a hotel fire, and a broken roof beam.

There were even potential dangers that Chris himself hadn't noticed.

For example, the dead fish thrown from the pickup truck; thousands of pounds of fish falling from a height of over ten meters could easily crush a strong man to death.

And then there was the electric shock while Chris was showering; it didn't matter, with his physique, even 240 volts couldn't kill him.

But when he noticed the electrical leak, the coincidentally eerie steel wire that wrapped around his neck made Chris realize something was wrong.

At that time, Chris already suspected he had arrived in the Final Destination world.

But what truly confirmed it for Chris was when the hotel he was staying in suddenly caught fire, turning into an inferno in just a few seconds.

If it were an ordinary person, there would be no choice; jumping from the fifth floor might even offer a chance of survival.

But Death had clearly considered this, so it gave Chris no time to react; the moment he hadn't made up his mind, the roof beam above him suddenly broke and crashed down.

It was fortunate that he was only staying in an ordinary budget hotel, not a large shopping mall.

The broken roof beam weighed at most a few hundred pounds, and even with large chunks of rebar and concrete, it was only one or two tons.

When that thing crashed towards Chris, he casually swatted it aside.

Then the hotel Chris was staying in suddenly collapsed, and he was completely buried in the hotel's ruins.

By the time he crawled out from the thick concrete, Chris was absolutely certain he had arrived in the Final Destination world.

What Chris couldn't understand, however, was how he ended up on Death's list in the first place.

While Chris couldn't figure it out, Stewie, who was watching the show back home, knew perfectly well.

Through the wristwatch on Chris's hand, Stewie had confirmed his hypothesis.

"Sure enough, that Death is the error correction mechanism of that world. Compared to Chris, this invader, those guys who originally disrupted the world seem insignificant."

Stewie took a sip of dragon blood beverage, and the abundant energy made his mind exceptionally clear, and in an instant, he understood the underlying logic of the Final Destination World.

However, the reason it happened so quickly was also thanks to the fact that their world also had a Death.

The first time he discovered that entity, Stewie had even curiously tried to capture one.

Unfortunately, just as he was about to conduct further research, that fat idiot Peter took him away for bath time.

Otherwise, he would have already gained a deep understanding of the death domain, and might even have been able to personally visit Hell or the Afterlife!

Sighing regretfully, Stewie continued to watch Chris's unfortunate encounters.

Unfortunately, Death seemed to realize that it couldn't do anything to Chris, so it temporarily chose to retreat.

This gave Chris time to collect himself.

Taking the five hundred thousand dollars in compensation from the hotel, Chris chose to check into a high-end hotel this time.

Then he took a nice bath, changed into comfortable clothes, and then quietly sat in the hotel lobby.

Temporarily unable to deal with Death, Chris was already preparing to profit from Death.

Chris could feel Death brewing a big move, but he currently had no clue about Death, didn't even know what that thing was, and had no way to counteract it.

So Chris sat on the ruins and thought for a moment, then decided to first use Death to earn compensation money, and then use the funds to hire enough professionals to help research Death.

Although he didn't know if this method would be useful, it was the only idea Chris could come up with.

However, Chris's idea was good, but he somewhat underestimated the time Death would take to brew its big move.

By the time he woke up from a nap in the hotel lobby, Death's targeted attack had not materialized.

Helpless, Chris immediately took out twenty thousand dollars, handed it to the hotel manager nearby, and said, "Extend my stay for two months, and now go get me something to eat."

"Right away, sir!"

The hotel manager didn't expect such a pleasant surprise. He had originally wondered why this distinguished guest didn't go to his room to sleep, but insisted on resting in the lobby.

But when the guest pulled out twenty thousand dollars, the hotel manager felt guilty about his previous disrespectful thoughts.

The customer is always right, and what such a generous patron wants to do is not something a mere employee like him could question.

The hotel manager took the bills and mentally kicked himself, while secretly thinking, 'I need to stop being so judgmental!'

Seeing the hotel manager's odd behavior, Chris shook his head and sighed softly. What a dedicated employee! Too bad he's kind of an idiot.

After eating and drinking his fill, Chris walked out of the hotel, preparing to see what the rules of Death's attacks on him were.

At the same time, Chris also wanted to investigate whether this world was truly the Final Destination world.

Although through these few bizarre accidents, Chris already had an eighty percent certainty that this was the Death World, to truly confirm it, he still needed to find some tangible proof.

Chris went to an internet café, paid for a computer, casually stomped out the cigarette butt the café attendant had left near the wires, and walked straight to the computer.

After searching online for the Flight 180 disaster and finding nothing, Chris immediately became puzzled.

"Is this not the Final Destination World?"

Then Chris checked the date: May 14, 2000.

Because he didn't know the exact date of the Flight 180 explosion and guessed it might not have happened yet, Chris then searched for the McKinley Speedway disaster and the North Bay Bridge collapse.

This time, relevant information appeared, and from this, Chris was completely certain that this was the Final Destination World!

However, even though he had confirmed the world he was in, Chris, who had watched all the Final Destination movies, still didn't know how to counteract Death.

Because among all the characters in the Final Destination series, it seemed only one person truly survived.

Even Iris, the old woman with the strongest precognition, the best mind, and explosive execution ability, only managed to barely survive in the deep mountains and forests by being intimately familiar with Death's operations.

As for the mysterious coroner William Bludworth in the earlier films, his true identity was revealed in the sixth film.

He was not at all the character that fans had originally predicted, like a Death's agent or harbinger.

That guy was just a lucky survivor, like Iris's descendant, whose life Iris had managed to save through her own efforts.

So after much thought, Chris decided to start with Iris, who was most familiar with Death, to see what information she had gathered over the years while opposing Death.

The North Bay Bridge incident was quite famous back then, and Chris quickly found news about Iris, who was directly involved.

Then he discovered news that after the bridge collapse decades ago, she had developed severe anxiety and had been constantly preventing her family from going out.

Chris then traced the most recent news and found her place of residence.
