Darius carefully untangled Aria's arms from around Elian. The child didn't stir—just mumbled softly as Darius lifted him and set him gently on the other side of the bed, tucking the blankets around him.
When he turned back toward Aria, her hand fell naturally against his chest. Still asleep, she shifted… and suddenly snuggled forward, pressing her face into him and pulling him closer with both arms.
Darius froze.
"…If only you were this soft when you're awake," he muttered under his breath.
He brushed a thumb over her cheek and kissed her forehead.
But his gaze drifted lower—to her lips.
His fingers tilted her chin up.
Just one kiss…
He leaned in and touched his lips to hers—just a peck, but it shot straight through him. A low groan escaped before he could stop it. Instantly he sat upright, clearing his throat harshly when he felt the very obvious reaction in his lower body.
He rubbed a hand over his face in sheer frustration.
