Lucien sat back down on the bed, his hands trailing the sheets through the darkness as he grabbed the class certificate bundle. A thought formed in his mind, and he did not think twice before trying it.
As he opened his palm, a sickening headache formed in his head. It was like a baseball bat clashing against his head.
"No energy in my core," he said, his voice strained from pain.
He sat back up as the pain reduced. "In those novels, energy will refill itself," he muttered.
Sitting upright, he sat in a lotus position, drawing energy from the atmosphere into his core. He had no prior knowledge about absorbing energy, but he followed his instincts.
In less than 30 minutes, he opened his eyes again, filled with invigorated vigor. Without waiting, he opened his palm wide as he focused on a itn image.
Energy roared to life in his hand, forming a bright orb that illuminated the room.
Lucien's face shrank. The energy consumption was too much for his body to handle for too long. 'I can at most keep this up for 3 minutes before I run out of energy,' he mused. 'I should check all of them before time runs out.'
He opened his palm slightly, letting the orb fly out, hovering slightly over his head. He brought all the certificates from the bundle, spreading them before himself.
Assassin, Mage, Archer, Warrior, Martial Artist. Those were the class certificates presented to him.
In his mind, Lucien already knew what to choose. He already planned to choose the class even before he started cultivating earlier that day.
Calmly, his fingers moved, taking one of the class certificates. He ripped it in half as a blinding light illuminated his frame.
[The Lord has acquired a new class: Warrior]
[You have received beginner equipment, a sword and shield]
[Skills unlocked]
[You have gained basic melee weapon mastery and weapon resonance mastery]
A sword appeared in his right hand, and a shield in the left. Without thinking twice, he just dropped the shield to the floor. "I don't have any use for this."
Lucien smiled. He had always been fascinated by swords, especially in the novels he used to read.
He swung the sword gently through the thin air, flexing it with a smile on his face.
'It is like the Primordial Will is reading my thoughts,' he thought.
But he also knew that it was not too far off. To him now, reading someone's thought was no longer as surprising as he would have felt a few hours before.
He dropped the sword near the shield, then rested his head on the pillow, eyes wide open as he thought of everything that had happened in just a day. From being a normal store worker to being a person who was shooting energy beams from his hand within 24 hours.
"I wonder if my boss is still alive," the fleeting thought sprang in his mind. But that was all, just a passing thought. To him, whether his boss was alive or not was none of his business.
Before long, his eyes snapped shut as exhaustion washed over him.
Levi stepped into the room shortly after Lucien had slept. His eyes caught sight of the sword and shield, then the class certificates, but he did not touch anything.
"I wanted to tell him about the things they got from that place, but he has slept," Levi whispered. "Tomorrow then," he said as he stepped out of the manor again.
The rest of the citizens were in the domain ground, lying scattered across the floor. They did not care about the biting chill of the cold floor.
There was nothing to do about it since there was only one building in the domain. Levi slept on the floor bare, shocking everyone.
They had not expected the younger brother of their Lord to be sleeping on the floor alongside them.
Levi noticed their gazes, but he just brushed them off. Unlike them, who were shivering from the cold, Levi's body was perfectly still.
Having trained in the most brutal conditions and environments, his body had long grown numb to small things like cold.
The only person who mirrored Levi was Tiara. Her body had been tempered by energy during her breakthrough, making her body stronger and more durable compared to the rest.
They all drifted into sleep as the thought of Levi left their minds.
In another domain, close to Lucien's, a woman with blonde hair that stretched down her waist, with big, round, black eyes stood, gazing down at a knight kneeling at her heels, lance piercing deep into the ground, shield strapped tightly to his back.
Beside the knight was a small, blue dragon the size of an elephant.
"My Lady, I have destroyed the goblin cave," the knight said, the calm in his voice laced with admiration and humility.
The woman looked at the knight, her eyes gentle as she opened the absurd status window again.
[Name: Max]
[Class: Dragon Knight]
[Tier: Tier 1, Stage 1]
[Skills: Lance and shield mastery, Weapon resonance, Energy strengthening, instinct synchronization, Mounted Combat, Dragon Fusion, Draconic channelling]
[Name: Orun]
[Species: Lesser Dragon]
[Tier: Tier 1, Stage 1]
[Skills: Ice dragon breath, Ice coating, Draconic aura]
No matter how many times she saw the status screen, she couldn't get enough. Compared to this dragon knight, the rest of her troops were not worth her time.
"Good job," she praised the Max.
He had wiped out an entire goblin lair that contained 20 tier 1 goblins in less than 30 minutes.
"Tomorrow morning, as soon as the sun rises, you all go to the place and bring all the valuables," she commanded the soldiers.
In a fluid motion, she stood up from the wobbly stool made from tree branches. "Good night," she said to Max as she walked towards the Lord's manor, her hair swaying under the gentle breeze of the night.
"Good night, my Lady," Max replied with a smile.
She stepped through the door of the Manor, entering it calmly. Then, she stuck her head out again.
"Lady Lily," she corrected Max before entering the room fully.
