Chapter 64 - [64] - Reference and Quotation

Upon returning to the Gryffindor common room, Albert brewed himself a cup of milk tea and once again asked his roommates if they wanted to go to the library with him to do their Charms class homework. After being refused again, he packed his schoolbag and went to the library with the three of them waving goodbye.

During class hours, there weren't many people in the library.

Albert entered and immediately spotted Sanna, who was flipping through books looking for information.

He walked over to the girl, gently pulled out a chair, sat down, and whispered, "I hope I'm not late?"

Albert was very punctual; it was exactly 2 o'clock.

"No, the Charms class homework is a bit difficult, and I haven't found much useful information," Sanna said.

Several books were placed next to her; she had arrived half an hour early but still hadn't found anything particularly useful.

Albert flipped through the thick books on the table, shook his head, and directly motioned for Sanna to head to Section C to find the necessary books from the fifth row of shelves.

Speaking of which, the nineteenth-century spell selection he borrowed last time still hadn't been returned.

However, that nineteenth-century spell selection was almost finished.

It really should be finished quickly and returned soon, as the borrowing period was almost up.

Albert pulled Charms Achievement from the bookshelf and handed it to Sanna.

The young witch looked at the book Albert handed her with surprise.

Soon, Albert pulled out the Eighteenth Century Charms Selections he was looking for, and then he and Sanna returned to the desk.

"How did you know these books had what we were looking for?" Sanna asked, surprised to find that the two books Albert chose contained the information they needed.

She then felt a bit frustrated, wondering what all her hard work searching for information had been for.

"The book Charms Achievement is actually very useful, at least for written exams," Albert explained.

"The Lumos Charm was invented in the eighteenth century, so you should be able to find relevant information in Eighteenth Century Charms Selections."

"Your mind is so sharp, why didn't you go to Ravenclaw?" Sanna asked, puzzled.

"Who knows?" Albert shrugged and said softly, "Perhaps the Sorting Hat thought I'd be better off in Gryffindor."

Once the information was found, the rest was quite simple: just transcribe the appropriate sentences.

For example, the Lumos Charm was invented in the eighteenth century (1772) by a witch named Levina Monkstanley, who was once an Unspeakable in the Department of Mysteries at the Ministry of Magic.

The discovery process of the wand-lighting charm: One day, as Levina was searching for a lost quill in a dusty corner, she lit the end of her wand.

This greatly surprised her colleagues, who all thought the spell was very useful and recorded it...

A bunch of text, basically just transcription.

For some reason, Albert suddenly missed the copy-and-paste functions on a computer, and he wondered if magic could achieve that.

If so, writing essays would be much easier in the future.

"Alas!"

Albert sighed lightly, came back to his senses, and found that he had accidentally written a word incorrectly during his distraction, feeling a bit conflicted.

He crossed out the misspelled word, dipped his quill into the inkwell, and continued transcribing.

In fact, the content of the essay was very simple: just a basic transcription from Charms Achievement and Eighteenth Century Charms Selections, along with some problems he encountered while practicing the Lumos Charm, and then the methods for solving those problems.

Albert found that writing all this content already took up a large section of parchment.

Sanna, who was still flipping through books beside him, watched with a stunned expression.

"What's wrong with you?" Albert asked, confused.

"You..." Sanna pointed to the parchment.

"Want to see?" Albert didn't mind and directly handed the parchment to Sanna.

He then flipped through the content on the Nox Charm.

The Nox Charm was not in Eighteenth Century Charms Selections.

However, Albert still found relevant records in Charms Achievement and then found related books on the bookshelf to continue transcribing.

Sanna looked at her own article, which had very little written, and then looked at Albert's neat and well-organized essay, suddenly feeling a strong sense of defeat.

So, essays could be written like this!

Sanna also knew that most of the content in this essay was copied from books, but what of it.

Albert said this was called borrowing, or quoting.

If she had to squeeze it out herself, she probably couldn't even manage a three-inch essay.

Albert finished this essay on the wand-lighting charm Lumos and the extinguishing charm Nox in an hour and a half.

Although half of the essay was copied, much of it was based on the various difficulties Albert encountered while learning Charms and the methods for solving them.

The final summary was Albert's in-depth exploration of the spells, such as being able to make the light from a wand leave the wand and store the light of the Lumos Charm, or the peculiar idea of using the Nox Charm to control surrounding lights.

And then... combining the two to create a light switch.

Bah, it was the conceptual design of a magic lamp.

If a magic lamp could be created using the Nox Charm and the Lumos Charm to produce the effect of a Muggle electric lamp, then wizards would no longer need to use oil lamps in the future!

These were the last remaining ideas, still just concepts.

Albert wrote them in his essay, actually hoping to leverage Professor Flitwick to help him complete them.

After all, Professor Flitwick is an expert in Charms, and perhaps these ingenious ideas could attract his interest.

The magic lamp task hadn't been completed yet!

"How about this?" After the ink on the parchment dried, Albert used the Duplication Charm to make a copy and handed it to Sanna.

He also pointed to some areas, telling her to write according to her own experiences.

As for the information that everyone could find, it was naturally inserted into the essay as an introduction and embellishment according to his own ideas, making it appear more sophisticated.

"I thought it would take a long time to write!" Sanna said with emotion, looking at her parchment.

Now, she somewhat understood why Albert had said that writing this essay was to deepen his understanding of the Lumos Charm and the Nox Charm.

The situation was indeed exactly like that.

From finding information to transcribing sentences from books, to finishing the essay.

At least, she knew when the spell was invented, who invented it, what impact it had after its invention, who improved and innovated on this spell, what problems she encountered while practicing the spell, how to solve them, and her own prospects and outlook for the Lumos Charm...

In any case, after writing all this, it would definitely exceed three inches, so there was no worry about not writing enough.

Moreover, the most important thing was that if she didn't understand the Lumos Charm and the Nox Charm, she really couldn't have written all this.
