Chapter 17 - I have no secrets

"Did you find the information you were looking for?"

Alexander looked at Marquite and Mont, who were clutching a parchment scroll and a data slate.

Marquite nodded, seemingly also appraising Alexander.

Mont, standing beside him, voiced their shared doubt: "Where are the weapons you wanted?"

Not to mention a warehouse full of weapons, Alexander didn't even have an automatic pistol on him.

"I've already moved everything," Alexander said with a smile.

His haul from the PDF warehouse was considerable.

The star system where Ashford is located is known as the "Shield of the Netherworld."

This star system itself exists as a shield, guarding the Baal Star System, where the Blood Angels' homeworld is located.

Over the long years, the Shield of the Netherworld has intercepted Eldar, Chaos renegades, and Ork waaghs.

The PDF here had long been honed into a formidable fighting force, and their equipment was far superior to that of a typical PDF.

From the warehouse, Alexander not only found a full five hundred Agrippina-pattern Mk III Autoguns but also two hundred M40 Armageddon-pattern Autoguns and U90 Assault Cannons.

There were even fifty Catachan-pattern M36 Lasguns, standard issue for the Cadian Shock Troopers.

This made Alexander slightly click his tongue. The Cadian Shock Troopers were among the top tier in the Astra Militarum and not something the PDF could compare with.

For a PDF outpost in Ashford to have fifty of their standard-issue Lasguns, Alexander could barely suppress his smile.

Mont looked at Alexander's barely suppressed smile and paused. He quickly walked towards the PDF warehouse, returning moments later with a shocked expression.

"It's empty! The PDF warehouse is empty?!"

Mont took a deep breath, unable to resist asking,

"Did you really move an entire warehouse of weapons? Where did you put them?"

Then he shook his head, muttering to himself, "Never mind, I won't ask about your business."

Alexander gave Mont a strange look.

He felt as if this kid had misunderstood something.

"I don't have many secrets," Alexander said, scratching his head.

"Neither does the First Legion," the winged figure of Sanguinus said faintly.

Mont didn't pick up on Alexander's words. He handed the data slate in his hand to Alexander.

"This contains the map of the Old Eight District, as I promised you earlier."

Alexander took the map from Mont's hand and saw every street of the Old Eight District clearly displayed on it.

He easily found the location of the Corpse Guild.

According to the information Old One-Eye had given him, the notebook belonging to Ignes. Kalkas should be in the Corpse Guild.

Alexander's lips curved into a satisfied smile.

Coming to the Old Eight District this time was the right choice; he had gained a lot.

He used the hat to open a tunnel leading to the back of the PDF outpost.

That was the urban area of the Old Eight District. Previously, due to the collapsed rubble, neither scavengers nor gang members had been able to enter it.

The streets in this urban area were much wider than those in the Lower Nest, wide enough for three or four vehicles to pass side by side.

Along the streets were neatly arranged tall buildings, extending continuously into the distance, swallowed by the darkness.

The entire city was silent and without light, giving off an unsettling chill.

Marquite nodded slightly at Alexander, then turned and walked with Mont into the dark streets, their figures disappearing into the distance.

Watching their disappearing figures, Alexander couldn't help but shake his head.

Whatever they intended to do, it was highly unlikely to succeed.

Even without Alexander, the two of them would eventually find a way to enter the PDF outpost, find the information they wanted, and get what they were looking for.

But in Alexander's memory, Ashford never experienced a large-scale Chaos invasion until its destruction.

This meant that whatever plans Mont and Marquite had, they would most likely fail in the end.

Even if they succeeded...

Alexander thought about the near future,

The Blood Angels, Battle Sisters, Astra Militarum, Necrons, and Tyranid Leviathan fleet would engage in a massive free-for-all in the Netherworld Star System.

It seemed that one more Chaos faction wouldn't make much difference, and Mont and Marquite, those two pathetic cultists, wouldn't be able to summon many Nurgle legions.

Moreover, in the eyes of the Great Devourer, Chaos was inedible waste, a predator trying to steal its food.

In the eyes of Chaos, the Great Devourer was much the same: soulless things, beasts trying to snatch their food.

When the two met, they would most likely fight.

At that time, it was not impossible for Chaos to defend the gate and the Tyranids to destroy the nation.

"Never mind," Alexander shook his head. This was no longer his concern.

He probably wouldn't have any more dealings with those two cultists.

Alexander collected himself and looked at the large number of firearms in his four-dimensional pocket.

[Name: Catachan-pattern M36 Lasgun.]

Alexander did a quick calculation. Aside from the two hundred Agrippina-pattern Mk III Infantry Autoguns sold to Lager's gang, the remaining weapons could be sold in the Four-Dimensional Pocket for a total of 1.6 million.

A huge sum!

Alexander couldn't help but lick his lips. If he raided another seven or eight PDF outposts, he could gather enough money for an anywhere door.

But he quickly dismissed that idea.

It wasn't that he was afraid; after all, with 1.6 million in hand, he could buy some new tools, use Body Clay to hide his identity, and Superpower Hat to teleport away. There was still a chance to steal some equipment from PDF outposts.

The main reason was that the current Governor Augustus didn't care much about the PDF. It was hard to say how much good equipment the PDF still had, and the risk-to-reward ratio was simply not worth it.

Most importantly, even if Augustus was completely slacking off, if Alexander robbed seven or eight PDF outposts' equipment at once, he would definitely target him.

In Alexander's memory, that guy had secretly amassed a squad of psyker private soldiers from somewhere.

Not just one psyker, but an organized private army of psykers. The combat power of a group of psykers was much stronger than the PDF.

Alexander also deeply suspected that the Governor's method of accumulating psyker private soldiers was not entirely loyal.

"So, what's your next plan?" said the winged figure of Sanguinus.

"First, go to the Corpse Guild and find the notebook Old One-Eye asked for."
