Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: A werewolves first fight!

Illegal hunters pov

"Commander, we're close to the site, and the readings are stable. No anomaly or changes have occurred."

"Understood, let's roll out."

The squad of four walks through the forest, searching for the escaped monster. They wear tactical gear with built-in armour made from monster parts, and their weapons vary, seemingly cold weapons like swords or axes.

But all carry a small knife, for close combat or as a backup weapon if it ever comes to that.

Two have bows, while the one at the back has a small sidearm.

The commander has an axe on his hip, one of the bowmen has long silver hair, and the other bowman has short blond hair.

The last member (the gun holder) seems to have a unique GoPro or similar camera.

"Sup chat, so I know I said I'd do a dungeon delve for my next stream, and I still plan to, but a sudden monster appears near the city forest, thankfully it's at best a rank 18, so it should be an easy mission for us." While he's talking, he is staying vigilant.

If you were to see this person's stream, it has around 500 views.

Chat:

Salt raiders: Disappointed.

Saltyvcg: We wanted to see the dungeon today.

Dungeon lover25: What type of monster is it?

Monsterfu69: Maybe it's a dryad ;).

Dr Wolf: Yooo, first time here, who dis?

"Something has been here. There are tracks in these woods."

"Looks like it either got someone or it's a shape-shifter or changer like monster, might need to swap to silver weapons."

"Great, I hate using silver weapons. They're horrible to maintain." The silver haired member said.

Following the tracks, the squad heads deeper into the forest.

Following the tracks for 10 minutes.

The commander's hand shot towards the side of his head and formed a fist.

The commander then points to the right, where, if you had enhanced hearing, you'd hear faint sounds of flesh tearing.

The commander starts to do silent commands through hand signs.

The 3 other members start to spread out and head towards the right around the clearing, the bowmen going up into the trees while the streamers stay on the ground floor.

In a fresh clearing, you can see a creature.

Hunched over a deer corpse.

"Flashbang out", Silver hair whispers into a radio.

The creature turns to the silver haired member, blood and flesh clinging to its maw.

Then a bright light bursts forth.

Two dimly glowing arrows from different directions pierce through the air and into the hide of the werewolf, digging in.

The commander's ears pick up a small step to the far left, within the bushes, but he ignores it, it's just a small animal... that's all.

The commander charges in with a dimly glowing axe, aiming for the werewolf's head.

The axe coming down suddenly changes direction as a frantic claw smashes into the axe head's side, putting the commander off balance for half a second.

The werewolf is still blind however, and is unable to take the easy opportunity that just showed itself.

Unable to see, the werewolf tries to listen to its surroundings, its ears move and shift, but the ringing persists, so instead, it swings its claws in as many directions as possible.

The commander backed up, pointing his hand outwards towards the werewolf.

The bowmen once more attack with arrows from the trees. The commander is planning his next attack, while the streamer is waiting to throw another flashbang.

Through the eyes of the streamer, the commander does a brief, strange jolt, unnoticed by their conscious thoughts.

The arrows hit their target, the werewolf realises that throwing its arms around is not working, it dashes to the left, as this is one of the directions the arrows came from.

The commander strikes, causing a deep slash on the wolf's side.

Causing it to yelp, slashing in the direction of the axe.

Its claws catch the back of the commander's axe, forcing it towards the ground.

The werewolf, almost smiling, slashed with its other claw, but it only scraped its prey.

Its smile faded.

The commander let go of his axe, dodging backwards, his body armour getting torn, saving him from a lethal blow.

The werewolf is unable to hit anything vital and starts to madly flail in anger.

The commander, unable to retrieve his axe, waits, doing his best to ignore the throbbing pain in his stomach. A small frost covers the edges of the Injury.

Noticing the frost, "The wolf's an abnormal, you know what that means."

"Ye ye, make sure it's intact and shit." The streamer's voice emerges from the radio.

The commander decides he'll observe the wolf, allowing the archers to hit it. Multiple arrows stick out of its hide.

"How long until the flashbang wears off?" The commander asked through the radio.

"A couple seconds, just about to arm another," the streamer replied.

The werewolf slowly regains its hearing. The ringing persists, but is reduced enough for it to hear the notching of an arrow.

The werewolf's ear twitches, it leaps in the direction of the sound, smashing into a tree trunk with its shoulder, then jumping up, slashing savagely at the sounds above it.

"Move!" The command can't catch up.

In a desperate attempt, the commander takes his knife out of its holster and aims, planning on throwing it.

A scream is heard as one of the squad members' legs has been pierced by the werewolf's claws, the silver haired bowman was stunned from the shaking of the tree.

Flesh hangs loosely from the bones, having no armour around the legs for better mobility, which wasn't a good idea.

The werewolf's other claw reaches further up towards the scream, as it gets a hair's breadth from the squad member's face.

An arrow embeds itself in the back of the werewolf's hand.

Changing the direction just enough for the squad member to get out of the way with only a deep scratch across her face.

The werewolf's claw gets embedded into the tree from the arrow's momentum.

The squad member rolled off the branch they were on, heading towards the ground.

Trying to stab the werewolf with the backup knife before hitting the ground.

Sadly, the force behind it was not enough to harm the werewolf, the knife shot in the direction of the commander due to improper handling.

The member slams onto their side, wincing from the fall. They struggle to get to their feet.

Their vision blurs briefly, in the corner of her eye, within the shadows, a mass of eyes stares. Before fading into the shadows.

Brushing the head trauma off. They start limping in the direction of their commander and away from the werewolf.

The wolf lands on the ground with a heavy thud.

The werewolf, hearing the retreating prey, lunges in the same direction.

Only to be hit in the spine with two knives, cutting deep, but not enough to sever.

The wolf is sent directly into the ground, the werewolf slams its claws together in retaliation, trying to hit something, and succeeds.

A heavy stomp can be heard from the commander's position. The commander turned, "How, there should only be one."

Tearing through the lower half of the commander. His whole body now becomes a two-piece. The edges of the wound are covered in frost.

{Host has killed 1 creature}

An arrow hits the wolf in the side of the face, making a strange scraping sound. It stops moving.

"SHAWN!"

"Commander…"

The other members stay silent, looking at their fallen commander, the moon shining brightly on their corpse.

One of the members slowly heads toward the top half of their commander, picking up his dog tags from around his neck.

"Why did he look away? There's nothing there."

The air is cold, and the member closest to the commander, their breath can be seen, but no one else's.

"Something not right g-" the blond bowman couldn't finish their sentence.

A shockwave of frost and ice explodes with a monstrous howl as the werewolf stands back up, panting heavily and its legs shaking from exhaustion.

The howl rattles within the brain, unending.

The desperate howl of the wolf shakes the hunters to their core, freezing them in place.

"We, we're surrounded!" The streamer pushes the injured bowman away from them, trying to get her to safety, pulling the pin on the flash bang and dropping it at his feet. pairs of sharp animal eyes surround him.

The silver-haired bowman, unable to support themselves, stares at the encroaching eyes from the shadows, shaking uncontrollably.

"What are you two doing? Snap out of it, damn it." The blond bowman aimed at the werewolf once more.

The werewolf, glaring at the blond bowman, turns its head away as a giant flash of light and horrid sound engulfs the bowman. The flashbang goes off. Blinding them.

Letting the arrow fly blindly, holding for the best, they regain their sight quickly, their gear blocking a majority of the flashbang's effect.

The blond bowman opens their eyes, seeing the back of their legs?!

They look up as they see the werewolf's maw at the stump of their neck, blood rushing into its mouth.

Chat:

Dungeon lover 25: Wtf :O

Salt raiders: Was that magic?!!

Saltyvcg: They said it was abnormal, right?

Twotch: What happened? Why are they all dead!

Dr Wolf: From my research on werewolves, people believe they cause hysteria or delirium, but it's not confirmed, there are no friendly werewolves to ask :/.

Monsterfu69: I wish that was me ;)… on a serious note, should we report this?
