"Are you excited?" Luca asked with a huge smirk on his face.
I glared at him which only made him laugh. This morning he had intentionally enticed that dumb receptionist. Which meant that she left her post and came to try and flirt with us or rather me.
It was clear when she stepped up that I was her target, though I knew Luca didn't care. He'd always preferred men.
"Good Morning Mr Astello!" she had cooed.
I nodded, not giving her any attention. Luca smiled and waved at her.
"Good morning to you too Mr Silver," she added, suddenly remembering he was there.
"Good morning Miss …" he started.
"Anabel, just call me Anabel," she finished. "How was your weekend Mr Astello? Did you do anything fun?"
I stayed silent but she didn't seem perturbed by my lack of response.
"Shouldn't you be at your desk? Isn't that what you're paid for?" I asked.
"Oh Mr Astello, You're so funny, don't worry I'm on my break," she giggled.
It's been a while since a human had made me want to gag but she was nearly there. I was seriously considering using the stairs but Luca always complained and said it could give us away as inhuman, not panting or sweating after going up ten flights.
Thankfully the elevator dinged and I had an escape. Then he walked in, Sorin James. His scent was the first thing that hit me. It was like a tropical rainforest with fragrant flowers and damp leaves.
His scent was enticing, my body was definitely reacting to it, and my trousers were starting to feel uncomfortable. However, my instincts were warning me to be wary.
I didn't fail to notice he hadn't wanted to take Luca's offered hand. I doubted it was because he was being rude, it seemed more like a defensive thing.
When he said his name I wanted to growl. He was the man I had been secretly obsessed with for years and he was so fucking innocent.
You could see it in the way he ducked his head, flushed slightly and reacted to Luca's smile. Even Mac had said that he was a little shy, and reserved. When the others ask him to look at their work it's clear he doesn't think he's important enough to give his opinions.
"Well? Are you gonna answer me?" Luca asked.
"Don't you have work to do?" I growled.
"Why yes I do, but I'm on a break," he teased. "But in all seriousness, are you excited? You've been following this guy for years."
"Go back to your desk," I ordered.
"You're no fun!" he pouted but did as he was told.
Luca hadn't been wrong, I was excited. Though that excitement had tempered a little. My reaction in the elevator had been strange, it was telling me to stay clear but my body was wanting to pounce.
Normally, I wouldn't give such a new and large project to a new employee but he was hired primarily for this. If it wasn't for that then I would allow someone more experienced to handle it and give him a chance another time but I wanted it to be him.
"Your guest has arrived," Luca called through the intercom.
"Send him in," I answered with a sigh.
Sorin James walked hesitantly into my office. I stood, buttoned up my jacket and walked around to meet him. Remembering his possible aversion to touch I didn't offer my hand, instead, I pointed to the small seating area I had for meetings.
"Sorin James, it's good to officially meet you," I greeted with my body still tense.
His body relaxed slightly when he took his seat, I imagined he was relieved I didn't want to shake hands. Well I did, but he was my employee. I needed to make sure he was comfortable if this project was going to work.
"It's nice to meet you too sir," he answered. "I'm sorry I didn't introduce myself to you earlier. I didn't know …"
"Please, don't worry about that. I understand completely," I interrupted to reassure him.
His shy smile was stirring my dick and if I wasn't careful he would see very clearly how affected I was by him.
It was ridiculous. I'm over three hundred years old and it was like I was a young man again experiencing arousal and attraction for the first time.
Luca would often change his partners. Sometimes he would have a one-night stand or he would have a boyfriend for a few months, maybe a year. I had the odd fling as I travelled but in the past few decades, I'd grown tired of it.
That was until him, no one had made me react like this in a very long time, not since I was human if I was being honest. After I became a vampire I would react but it took more to make it visible.
Luca opened the door and brought us both a drink, when he left, the gust of wind from the closing door wafted his scent even more in my direction and I knew why I was tense.
'He's a witch'
"Mr Astello? Are you ok?" he muttered.
'What the hell is a witch doing here? Did they send him to spy on me or trick me?' I thought not realising he'd spoken.
"Sir!" he called out a bit louder.
I flinched a little before finally focusing on him. He looked … scared.
'What the hell is going on? Why would he be scared of me? I'm the one who should be worried.' I thought.
"Should I leave?" he asked timidly. "Erm … I'm sorry, I'll just go."
Sorin bolted for the door and I didn't stop him.
'Does he not know?' I thought as I stood, headed for my desk and searched for his file on my computer.
I was looking over his background check, something I insisted on for all employees, since many only wanted to work here either to bag me, bed me or kill me. Luca walked in just as I started reading about his history.
"What happened?"
"So he was orphaned as a baby, that could be why," I muttered to myself.
"That could be why what?" he asked. "Why did Sorin look like you attacked him when he left?"
"What! I didn't attack him!" I shouted.
"Woah, I only said it looked like, calm down. What happened?"
"He's a witch," I told him.
"Did he attack you?" he asked.
"No," I responded.
"Did he threaten you?"
I shook my head.
"Did he do a spell or something?"
"No! I don't even think he knows he's a witch. His file says he was orphaned."
"Ok so what's the problem then?" he asked as he looked back at the door as if he expected Sorin to be there.
I sighed, "Just go get him back!"
Luca saluted and left quickly.
'Being raised by nuns could mean that his family hadn't wanted him or had wanted to protect him. Growing up with no knowledge of magic could be a smart move if someone was after him or could be very dangerous, especially if his powers grew out of control.'
