Chapter 60 - Bedroom Talk
Quicker than she could protest, he had carried her in his arms. Her grip around Arik tightened, her breathing hard as his cedarwood cologne washed over her senses.
Knowing hums and whistles spread across the room as he left and headed to the bedroom.
Her cheeks heated with embarrassment and a growing rage.
This was her game.
He had no right to participate in it.
He had no right to turn it on her. To play along.
This was her punishment for him and not the other way around.
When she heard the click of the bedroom door close, felt his hand against it, heard the jingling of the keys, and then the lock clink into place, she expected him to put her down.
But he didn't.
Instead, he moved across the room and headed to the bed, that smile still on his face. It was strange to see him wear that expression for as long as he had.
Her heart was drumming rapidly in her chest as the music flowed from outside.
