Chapter 17 - Currents Beneath Stillness

Scene: Pavilion Outer Sanctum, Dawn Tide

The Pavilion's coral towers shimmer with the first kiss of dawn. Yet despite the tranquil waves, there is unease in the air. Word spreads like sea-wind through silk halls: The Crown has awakened — and with it, so has something far older.

Feng Xian, still half-adrift from the visions within Zaryss, returns to the surface with Nai'Esha, Mirth weave Yan, and a wounded Jade-Scythe disciple. The waters behind them churn strangely, as if reluctant to release them.

Sect Leader Myrllan awaits at the Tide spire, flanked by her four Heir Disciples, each displaying restrained suspicion or interest.

"You trespassed the Veil of Sealing," Myrllan says, voice calm but edged. "And yet… you carry no coral mark of death. Tell me, Flame bearer—what did you awaken?"

Feng Xian bows respectfully. "Not just a Crown. A warning."

Behind his eyes, the vision from the Leviathan Spirit still pulses: shattered tridents, a burning sea, a silhouette of a massive serpent-dragon rising from below… and the Crown's seventh pulse, syncing to his heartbeat.

🌊 Internal Pavilion Fracture Begins

The Pavilion, once distant and monastic, begins to fracture along ancient lines. Now, the four Heir Disciples respond differently to Feng Xian's revelation:

Rei of the Moon Pool Path: Compassionate and cautious. She believes Feng Xian's tale, sensing his link to the sea's deeper will.

Vael of the Abyssal Spear: Proud and sharp-eyed. He demands the Crown be turned over to Pavilion authorities, calling Feng Xian a destabilizing force.

Lurra of the Shell script Sect: Scholarly and inscrutable. She is more interested in the glyphs etched onto Feng Xian's arm from the Zaryss mural.

Korrin of the Wave Tide Fang: Silent, but secretly sent by Myrllan to test Feng Xian in battle soon.

Myrllan, calm as ever, declares:

"The Pavilion has not crowned a Tide bearer in two hundred years. And now the sea stirs... Let the waters judge him."

Channel the Crown's resonant frequency without breaking their spirit.

Endure ancestral sea-memories and ghost-wrath of past Crown bearers.

Face an echo of the Seventh Leviathan, now half-merged with Feng Xian's fate.

📜 Plot Hooks That Now Begin to Stir

Dark tide Cult Movements: Agents of the Cult have learned the Crown stirs — and send a Coral Shade Assassin to infiltrate the Pavilion under guise of a trader or archivist.

Sky veil Message: A message arrives by falcon from far above — the Sky Veil Sanctum has detected a storm-warped beacon. The Seventh Crown's awakening is felt even by the clouds.

Feng Xian's Beast borne Flame shifts — briefly flickering with sea-essence, hinting that his flame may mutate if he stays here too long…
