"Father refused to enter into the celestial realm again. He said it's too dangerous and he doesn't want to leave my mother and I alone in this world."
Restraining her intense bloodlust, Peculiar calmly explained.
Amon scratched the back of his head in deep thought before offering the little words of comfort he could.
"I'm sorry for all that's happened so far."
Peculiar's pretty eyes went wide hearing Amon's warm, comforting voice.
For a fleeting moment a strange emotion settled in her heart before it quickly faded.
Not knowing what it was, she smiled sweetly while donning her own mask before replying.
"I've learnt to live with it. I just need to get stronger. I heard there are miraculous gifts that are even capable of bringing one from the dead. If I'm strong enough to find someone with such a celestial gift, I can finally help my father get better."
Sensing the confidence in her words, Amon nodded.
'Perhaps in the future I might be able to create such an ability…'
Staring at Peculiar's bright eyes through the holes in her mask, Amon felt doing it would at least make her happy.
The tension dissolved and Peculiar hastily changed the topic.
"Here, let's go and find the bandits." Peculiar paused briefly then continued silently, "stay behind me while I scout the surroundings so you won't get surprisingly attacked."
Amon nodded, feeling it was a reasonable thought, and gripped his wooden sword.
…
Both children walked through the woods, their feet brushing lightly against the rough ground.
Silently, a shadow followed them from above the trees, ensuring their safety during their venture.
After walking for a little bit, Peculiar stretched her hand to halt Amon's movements.
Amon paused immediately and noticed Peculiar placing a hand to the section on her mask where her lips should be.
Her eyes were filled with seriousness and Amon watched her turn toward a particular direction before disappearing.
Dumbfounded, Amon could only glance around before quietly leaning towards a tree.
In the meantime he pulled his status screen.
[Name: Amon Adam
Age: 5
Unique Aspect: Limitless Physique
Primordial Path: Mortal Vein
Celestial Gift: Primordial Genesis
Creation Points: 103
Strength: 4
Agility: 3
Vitality: 3
Perception: 1]
Perhaps due to his sword training over the past month, Amon's strength had increased by 1 point.
He had already learned from his father that 10 was the standard for a normal adult human.
Having almost half of that, he could only liken it to either his Mortal Vein strength or his Limitless Physique.
Then there were his creation points that had increased by so much.
His father made it a habit for Amon to be dealing with little creatures he captured at the end of the week.
Having lasted over 3 months, Amon had gradually accumulated a substantial number of points.
Of course, this was only because his parents didn't want to capture too much.
They were afraid of affecting his mentality too much with so many killings.
This was a cruel world.
They were aware of this fact, but Vela didn't want her son to grow up into a cruel person.
Muttering silently in his mind, Amon quietly crafted something within his thoughts.
It felt abstract and flickered in and out of his will like something immaterial.
However, the status screen seemed to have detected what he was doing and runes materialised in front of his eyes.
They twisted and twisted for a few seconds before forming a line of words.
[Detected the creation of a celestial gift. Do you wish to proceed with creation?]
[Note: creating a gift will take up one's celestial core and one can only choose to eliminate the gift before obtaining a new one.]
Seeing the runes, Amon was filled with quiet amusement.
'In essence, if I didn't follow the method of forming multiple cores I would have been doomed in the first place.'
Musing to himself, Amon quietly analysed the situation so far.
'I just need to form more cores to obtain more abilities. And I also need to find a way to evolve the Primordial Dragon so my creations will be of higher rank.'
Having so much to do, Amon was exasperated.
But still, he consoled himself internally.
'One step at a time.'
Muttering 'yes' internally to the runes, Amon saw the runes change into something else.
[Created new gift: Invisibility.]
[Rank is automatically set to F Rank by default.]
Just as Amon was about trying to figure out his new ability, he heard the sound of twigs snapping.
Turning around, he noticed Peculiar materialising out of thin air.
She glanced up at him, her expression seeming excited.
"We're in luck. There are roughly thirty people there and none of them possess celestial gifts, they are merely ordinary humans. And they have some hostages with them."
Reaching the last part, Amon could hear the disgust in her words.
Shaking his head calmly, he voiced quietly, "we should attack, right?"
"Yes." Peculiar nodded then proudly declared, "I've even once dealt with more than ten bandits all by myself."
Amon noticed she was expecting him to praise her so he just shrugged nonchalantly and bluntly said:
"Are we going or not?"
Stupefied, Peculiar nodded and followed Amon in a daze.
She soon overtook him after regaining her composure and led the way as they walked.
Passing through a few trees with markings, Amon noticed the trees thinning out in the location they were walking in.
Finally, they soon reached a clearing with tents holstered up together.
The tents were gathered in neat rows and Amon counted ten.
In front of the tents were miscellaneous things and a few meters away from the tent was a cage with a group of people sobbing inside.
Amon frowned in disgust at the sight, then his attention shifted to scanning the surroundings for the bandits.
"They are inside…" Peculiar whispered.
Although Amon was curious about what bandits would be doing inside their tents at this time of the day, he didn't let his curiosity get to him.
Gripping the wooden sword tightly, he glanced toward Peculiar to see how she would start up the situation.
Peculiar spun her spear in an arc and walked toward a tent.
She entered like a silent devil and within a few seconds a scream rang out.
From within the tent, three men ran out with one of them clutching his head that was dripping blood tightly.
Peculiar's serious gaze swept them and, taking advantage of the fact that the others hadn't yet come out of their tents, she disappeared.
Amon glanced down and noticed footprints rapidly forming on the ground and realised that Peculiar was approaching the man.
Before he could realise what was happening, the bandit felt a heavy object crash heavily onto his head.
He clutched his head in pain but before he could even let out a yelp, the heavy object came crashing down once more.
'How ruthless!' Amon lampooned with an amused chuckle.
After dealing with the man, Peculiar materialised once more.
At this moment the crowd of people had formed around the two.
"What do we have here?" one of the bandits roared, "I've heard about you little rat, running around here playing saviour… hehehe."
His laughter was especially creepy and his eyes scanned through Amon and Peculiar with a gaze that seemed as though it could swallow them whole.
Peculiar felt the tension in the air and without hesitation walked back to Amon.
With their backs facing against each other, she gripped her spear tightly.
"Are you ready for this?"
Amon chuckled halfheartedly and nodded, also straightening his stance with the sword in his grasp.
"Of course. I was born ready."
With that, Peculiar disappeared.
Although she was worried about Amon's safety as well, she could only decide to protect him without knowing what his celestial gift was.
She threw a brief glance at Amon.
Only for him to disappear too.
"What?" her mouth fell open, dumbfounded.
