Chapter 9 - Where the Sword Meets the Staff

"Alright, that's enough about that boy's reward,"

Irene typed quickly.

"Now my next question… what is Lady Avalon's relationship to Arthur?"

The moment that message appeared on the screen, everyone in the group seemed to wait for the answer.

At the Tower of Avalon, Lady Avalon smiled gently — her lips curving into a small, secretive expression.

She looked at the floating phone before her, then spoke softly, as if savoring the moment where her secret would be revealed.

"Well then, Kuroneko. Go ahead and explain," she said, taking a slow sip of her cola.

"I'd like to hear how you describe me this time."

---

[Kuroneko]:

Alright!

Lady Avalon is the one who assisted in the birth of Arthur Pendragon.

She was also his teacher — in swordsmanship, leadership, and some royal magic.

On top of that, she served as the court mage when Arthur ascended the throne.

---

[Yamato]:

EH?! So Lady Avalon was like King Arthur's main teacher?!

That's so cool! 😲

---

[Hatsune Miku]:

Kyaa~ that's amazing, Lady Avalon!

So you're not just elegant and mysterious, but also the mentor of the King!

So awesome~ ✨✨

---

In the Tower of Avalon, Lady Avalon straightened her posture with elegance.

Her soft smile slowly shifted into a pleased one.

Her silver hair shimmered under the pale blue light, and if there had been an audience, they would have clearly seen—

yes, the immortal sorceress was absolutely glowing with pride.

"Oh, there's no need to flatter me so much, Miku… but well," she said, looking at her reflection in the crystal glass,

"I am quite magnificent, aren't I?"

She leaned back in her stone chair, adding proudly:

"Hmm, they should really call me 'The Grand Instructor of Avalon.'

Doesn't that sound splendid?"

---

[Irene Belserion]:

Wait, this person had that big of a role?! 😳

---

[Lady Avalon]:

How rude, Irene-chan.

What kind of person did you think I was? 😤

---

[Irene Belserion]:

A weirdo. 😑

---

[Lady Avalon]:

Moo~ Irene-chan is so mean!! 😭

I am an elegant sorceress, not some court clown!

---

[Yamato]:

Ehehe~ but well, we can't deny it. 😅

You do tell weird jokes all the time.

---

[Hatsune Miku]:

Right! 😂

Remember when you said you could "predict the future" and it turned out you were just forecasting Avalon's weather?!

---

[Kuroneko]:

Ahahaha yes! And the prediction was always the same:

"Light mist and eternal stillness."

---

[Lady Avalon]:

You're all terrible!! 😭

I was just trying to lighten the mood~!

---

A wave of laughing emojis filled the chat.

In her tower, Lady Avalon stared at her phone with a mix of irritation and amusement.

"Humans… truly love mocking genius," she muttered dramatically.

But before she could reply, another message appeared.

---

[Irene Belserion]:

Hold on, something doesn't add up.

---

[Yamato]:

Eh? What is it, Irene?

---

[Irene Belserion]:

You, Lady Avalon — you're a sorceress, right?

---

[Lady Avalon]:

Of course! ✨

I am the greatest sorceress of all time, you know~

Even my hair is overflowing with natural mana~ 💫

---

[Irene Belserion]:

Then explain this:

You're a mage, so why were you the one who taught swordsmanship to a King of Knights?

Leadership, I can understand…

But swordsmanship?

---

[Kuroneko]:

Ah, that question.

---

Lady Avalon paused.

In her tower, she stared into her phone camera with a dignified expression (or rather: a very dramatically serious one).

She straightened her back, crossed one leg over the other, and began typing slowly and gracefully.

---

[Lady Avalon]:

Ah yes, that classic question again.

The answer is quite simple, Irene-chan.

A true Caster…

must not only understand magic,

but also the expression of the world's will.

And in the world of kings…

that will is often expressed through the sword. ⚔️

She paused for dramatic effect.

---

[Lady Avalon]:

Besides~

a Caster who can't use a sword…

is a bad Caster! 😎✨

---

Silence.

Then — as if an entire dimension burst:

---

[Hatsune Miku]:

PFFFTTT HAHAHAHAHA!! 😂😂

That's the first time I've heard a Caster say that!!

---

[Yamato]:

HAHAHAHA!! So if I can't shoot something, I'm a bad fighter too?! 🤣

---

[Kuroneko]:

Ahahaha this is peak Lady Avalon energy.

We are absolutely making this a group meme.

---

[Irene Belserion]:

You know, sometimes I really don't know whether you're a genius… or insane.

---

[Lady Avalon]:

Both, darling. 💋✨

---

A few seconds later, another message appeared.

---

[Lady Avalon]:

Unfortunately, that boy only received Arthur's body.

If he had also received the sword… oh, that would have been so much more interesting. ⚔️

---

[Yamato]:

Sword?

Wait, does his sword also have something special about it? 🤔

---

[Lady Avalon]:

Of course, dear.

It's no ordinary sword.

A single swing of that blade can split darkness and ignite light across the world. 🌟

But well… at least he has the King's body. That alone is extraordinary.

---

Among the glowing screens, Irene Belserion fell silent.

Her eyes narrowed — not in irritation, but curiosity.

"A sword that can split darkness…" she murmured to herself.

She was about to type something, but another message appeared first.

---

[Kuroneko]:

Hey, Lady Avalon…

how about you or Irene train Kido to become a mage instead? 🌙

---

[Irene Belserion]:

Huh? Train him to be a mage?

What are you getting at, Kuroneko?

---

In the Tower, Merlin laughed softly.

"Oh? So that idea finally appears," she said, spinning her glass of cola lightly.

Her smile made one thing clear:

A new game was beginning.

---

[Kuroneko]:

Look…

Kido's body — or rather, Arthur's body — has a Dragon Core and near-limitless mana.

If properly guided, he could become a remarkable mage.

But only you two — Lady Avalon and Irene — are capable of training him. ✨

---

In the Tower, Lady Avalon narrowed her eyes, then laughed lightly.

"Hahahaha… interesting, truly interesting," she said, her voice echoing softly.

"Arthur taking up a staff rather than a sword. This world certainly knows how to entertain me."

---

[Irene Belserion]:

But wouldn't that be wasting his sword talent?

If he really is Arthur, wouldn't ignoring his swordsmanship be foolish?

---

[Kuroneko]:

Not necessarily.

His sword skill is still there — that's part of Arthur's memories and instinct.

But Arthur's body also has incredible magical potential.

The Dragon Core is far more stable than Artoria's.

If we compare them…

Arthur = 100% synchronization with his Dragon Core

Artoria = around 85%

If trained properly…

Kido could surpass Servants.

Or maybe even match a Grand Servant.

---

[Lady Avalon]:

Hahahaha!

Kuroneko, you truly dare to think big!

But I do like your way of thinking. 💫

Very well, I accept.

After all — I know that body inside and out.

You could say I built its foundation myself.

If that boy wishes to learn magic…

I shall guide him until he surpasses all before him.

This… will be fun. 😏

---

Kuroneko stared at her screen for a long moment.

Her faint smile hid a hint of worry.

Lady Avalon's words did not sound like the beginning of simple "training."

They sounded like the beginning of destiny.

---

[Irene Belserion]:

…Very well.

I'll consider it.

If he's truly worth my time… I may find myself interested.

---

Meanwhile, atop the Tower of Avalon, Lady Avalon rested her chin in her palm, deep in thought — before a mischievous smile slowly spread across her lips.

"Hmmm~ if Artoria's Caster form is called Castoria, then…"

She tapped her chin lightly.

"For Arthur's Caster form…"

She paused — then burst out laughing.

"Casthur? Castart? Wahahaha—!!

Oh, I love that!

Casthur, the King of Magic!

How grand that sounds!"

Her laughter echoed through the timeless tower.

Avalon's light danced gently in the air beside her —

and somehow, even the fae realm itself seemed to wait for the day

the King of Swords would finally lift a staff instead.
