Yuuto stared at the screen of his flip phone, watching as new messages kept popping up at an incredible speed.
---
[Hatsune Miku]:
"So… this will help me in battle and for performances, huh."
It was clear she was reading the explanation file Kuroneko had sent.
---
[Kuroneko]:
"Yes. I'll send you the full data later about the angel Gabriel from Date A Live."
---
[Lady Avalon]:
"Hmmm~ so we have an angel in our group now, huh?"
---
[Kuroneko]:
"This is different from religious angels.
But it fits Miku.
The original user was also a singer… and her name was also Miku.
Maybe this is fate, isn't it?"
---
[Hatsune Miku]:
"Haha… so she and I are both Miku, huh?
If so… if I get the chance, I want to meet her.
Maybe we could sing together."
---
[Yamato]:
"That's a great idea! And maybe later you can sing with Uta here too!"
---
[Hatsune Miku]:
"Oh, right! I've watched her videos. She sings really well…"
---
[Lady Avalon]:
"Okay, that's enough about Miku's gift.
Now it's Yuuto's turn~"
---
Yuuto typed slowly.
[Yuuto]:
"Alright. I'll do my login first."
---
[Irene Belserion]:
"If you get something… don't accept it immediately.
This time it might not be a normal gift."
---
[Lady Avalon]:
"Exactly. Report to your teacher first~"
---
[Yamato]:
"Hahaha! Hopefully your mapo tofu curse ends today, Yuuto!"
---
[Kuroneko]:
"Seriously. If you think the gift looks suspicious, tell the group first.
I can trace its origin."
---
[Hatsune Miku]:
"Good luck, Yuuto!"
---
Yuuto stared at his screen for a while.
He unconsciously smiled a little.
"They really are… too much," he murmured softly.
But he knew they were being sincere.
He began typing.
---
[Yuuto]:
"Alright. I'll try."
---
He closed the screen and took a slow breath.
"What am I going to get this time…?"
Silence filled the warehouse, with only the wind blowing through a gap in the wall.
Yuuto pressed the Login button slowly.
---
Yuuto stood in the center of the room, flip phone in hand.
[Ding]
A notification appeared—different from before.
[Login Reward: Genuine Fae Bloodline]
Yuuto stared at the screen for a few seconds without saying a word.
"…Genuine Fae?"
His brows furrowed slightly.
"I think I've heard this before… but where?"
Suddenly, a familiar memory flashed in his head.
Wild fae screams.
A moving forest.
Laughter with no mercy.
Beautiful destruction and mesmerizing chaos.
Yuuto rubbed his forehead.
"Ah… right. A race that's… extremely unstable and chaotic."
He sighed.
There was a bit of tension in his voice.
A holographic prompt appeared in front of the phone.
[Receive gift now?]
[YES] [NO]
Yuuto immediately pointed at [NO].
"Of course not. I don't even know what effect this has on my personality."
He pointed at himself, as if scolding the screen.
"Sin Pride alone is already troublesome.
Let alone this—a race that doesn't have human morals at all."
He prepared to press "NO."
But—
KLANG!
A sound of a falling can echoed from a shelf at the back of the warehouse.
Yuuto glanced over.
He raised an eyebrow with a smirk.
"Heh… you think I'd fall for the same trick?"
He lifted the finger that was nearing the [YES] button and held it back.
He remembered the previous incident.
When Mahiru knocked on the door, his attention broke and… YES was pressed by accident.
"I learn from experience," he said proudly.
He looked again at the [NO] button.
His finger lowered slowly.
…But right when his finger was about to touch—
TAP.
A small sound.
The hologram flickered.
YES ⇄ NO
The positions of the buttons swapped in less than a split second.
Yuuto froze.
"…What?"
Too late.
TAP.
His finger touched the new position.
[YES — reward received.]
Wild light burst out from the screen, like aurora mist appearing out of nowhere.
Yuuto stiffened, his breath knocked out of him.
"Hah?! That—that's cheating! I clearly pressed—"
His words stopped.
His vision tilted, the world spinning slowly.
Strange sounds began ringing in his ears—
soft chimes, insect-like whispers, and gentle laughter not from the human world.
Yuuto's balance collapsed.
"Ha… this is… damn you…"
His knees buckled.
For a moment he could see the room—
but it looked too alive, like the walls were breathing.
Then—
THUD.
Yuuto collapsed to the floor, unmoving.
His eyes slowly closed…
and the world sank into silence.
---
[Irene Belserion]:
"Hey, brat. Why is it taking so long? What did you get?"
[Lady Avalon]:
"Hello Yuuto~? You there?"
[Yamato]:
"Maybe his reward was mapo tofu again and he's embarrassed."
[Kuroneko]:
"…could be."
Minutes passed.
No reply.
---
[Hatsune Miku]:
"This isn't right… Yuuto usually sends something."
[Lady Avalon]:
"Miku, can you check on Yuuto?"
[Yamato]:
"Yeah… I'm afraid his reward might be dangerous."
[Hatsune Miku]:
"Okay, I'll check now."
[Kuroneko]:
"I'll check from the system side… maybe there's an odd notification."
Before Miku could move—
A new message appeared from Yuuto.
---
[Yuuto]:
"No need. I'm fine."
---
[Hatsune Miku]:
"Yuuto! Are you really okay!?"
[Kuroneko]:
"Why did you reply so late!? We thought something happened!"
[Irene Belserion]:
"So, brat… what did you get today?"
---
[Yuuto]:
"Oh that. My reward?
Mapo tofu again. Hahaha.
Looks like luck isn't on my side."
---
The group returned to "normal."
[Lady Avalon]:
"Unfortunate fate, my student."
[Yamato]:
"Hahaha! The mapo tofu curse won't let you go."
[Hatsune Miku]:
"But Arthur's body and Pride Sin are good enough, right, Yuuto?"
[Kuroneko]:
"Hang in there. Someday you'll get a rare gift again."
[Irene Belserion]:
"Hmph… why cheer up a brat like him."
[Yuuto]:
"Haha… no need to cheer me up.
Okay, I'll continue my sword training."
---
Silence filled the room.
Yuuto's flip phone was still open…
but the hand holding it wasn't Yuuto's.
A silhouette of a girl appeared—made of pure light, her face blurred.
She held Yuuto's phone.
"…It's done," she said, her voice flat but echoing.
Next to her, another girl sat while holding Yuuto's unconscious head in her lap.
Her body was different—
soft white-silver mist-like light.
She stroked Yuuto's hair gently—
like a mother caring for a child.
"Did the message send?" she asked.
Her voice was soft.
The first figure nodded.
"It did. They won't suspect anything, and Merlin won't interfere."
Her voice was cold, emotionless.
The second figure smiled faintly, even though her face was made only of light.
She slowly placed Yuuto's head on the floor, as if placing something fragile and precious.
"You've worked hard," she whispered to the unconscious Yuuto.
Then she stood up.
Both figures began to fade.
But before they disappeared, they looked down at Yuuto one more time.
Then, together, they said:
"Good luck… our first Apostle."
The moment those words were spoken—
their bodies shattered into glittering fragments, vanishing completely.
And right after the last spark of light was gone—
Yuuto's transformation began again.
Soft golden and green light seeped out from his skin, like glowing leaf veins spreading across his body.
