CHAPTER 24 — THE INTRUDER WHO LEFT NO SHADOW
The mansion was supposed to be impenetrable.
To the world, Damian Knight's home was a fortress wrapped in wealth and iron security — a place where no one entered without being seen, scanned, or documented.
Yet someone had done exactly that.
And they had done it without leaving a shadow behind.
Mara felt her pulse quicken as the guard's words echoed in her mind:
"The footprints lead IN."
Damian's expression turned darker than the morning sky. His arm automatically tightened around her waist, pulling her subtly behind him, his instincts shifting into something sharp and protective.
"Where exactly?" Damian demanded.
The guard motioned for them to follow. "North boundary wall, sir. Near the service path."
Damian nodded once. "Let's go."
His hand never left Mara as they moved across the estate. She could feel his tension through every step — the rigid set of his shoulders, the barely contained fury in his stride.
