Rise of the Feline Society Chapter 17 - The Waiting Game
William stood there his face still contorted in a mixture of sadness and rage. Out of everything he thought would've happened, he didn't expect this outcome. His best friend suffering because of his actions. This wasn't supposed to happen. None of this was supposed to happen.
He leaned over onto a desk his heart still beating fast but the minute had passed.
"1 minute has passed," the system said. "The second threshold ability has ended and stats have returned to normal. Five-minute cooldown has begun. First threshold skill is still active."
William was so angered by what Amos was doing to Jack that he didn't notice that he had activated a second threshold. He looked at the system abilities page. He would've smiled seeing that he had practically gained a trump card. Unfortunately, because of this specific circumstance there was no smile on his face. He started to pace still taking in the sheer cruelty that Amos was currently putting Jack through.
Amos said that he'll text me at 7pm so what am I supposed to do, William thought. He is in trouble and suffering because of what I did. So how do I find him?
William clawed at his face trying to think of a plan and his nails naturally extended cutting his face.
"You have been injured," the system said. "Minus 2 Health Points. Healing will commence. Minus 4 Energy. Energy: 131 of 150."
Just like all of the other times, his face which now had streaks of blood all over it started to heal. William didn't care to much as he just grabbed his bag storming out of the room to the bathroom to wash up his face leaving a destroyed classroom behind.
He entered the bathroom washing his face as he decided what to do next.
I can't exactly look for him, William thought. He could be located anywhere in the city. From the video he was not in the restaurant or the backroom of that place. William splashed water on his face as he continued. All I can do now is play in my club and see if I can upgrade to level 3, which will give me a stat point I can allocate to be strong enough to save Jack.
William placed his hair in the faucet trying to cool himself down since the water in the face wasn't working too well. That's when a feeling washed over him as the water consumed his entire head. He was in a state of fear as his head shot out of the faucet and he fell on the floor, his heart racing.
"As a Felkin," the system chimed in. "You are afraid of water. This effects the most when your head is entirely in water, you are in deep water, or in water under a high stressful situation."
William's anger immediately changed that of shock with a mixture of fear of what the system had told him. He was afraid of water.
"I am afraid of water," William murmured to himself. "I really am like a cat."
He got up off the floor still feeling a little off as water was dripping off of his hair and onto his clothes. He grabbed a few paper towels from the dispenser and dried off his hair mostly. He picked up his bag that had fallen on the floor slinging it over his back as a thought crossed his mind.
I have to go to the Rageblitz club, William thought as a groan escaped his lips. I guess I can go and knock some people for exp, they don't matter like Jack does.
He paused as he realized what he was thinking. His thoughts weren't his own usual thoughts. They were darker like when he thought about killing Felix without batting an eye.
William brushed that thought aside as he made his way over to the club. He walked down the long school hallway and down the stairs at the end until he was in the Rageblitz room. There was a match already playing and he could see his sister Sophie kicking a guy in the chest as she snatched the ball from him then climbed through the course to the goal. On the side Coach Grayson turned his head noticing William coming in. He breathed a sigh worried that William had chosen a different club and lost one of his new recruits.
"William!" Coach Grayson shouted. "Where were you?"
William stood there as he struggled to find an excuse but the coach interrupted him.
"Never mind and just join your sister's team. Just drop your stuff and hop in."
William put his bag down opening it up for a moment to eat some chicken tenders but realized that he didn't buy more than he needed for lunch. He just bought enough to fill him up during lunch.
I guess I'll have to grab some after practice so I can have full energy for whenever Amos decides to send the text. Anger flashed across his face for a brief moment but quickly vanished like it was never there.
"Hurry up!" Coach Grayson yelled at William. "Unless you want the other team to start winning.
William looked up noticing that the ball was no longer in his sister's hands and was held by a skinny boy who was making his way through the course. He closed his backpack and started to sprint over to the course.
Just as he was halfway there, Coach Grayson yelled at him a question. "Where is Jack?"
William's face hardened as he answered. "He's absent today sir, I think he's sick," William lied. He of course was not going to tell anyone especially his coach that Jack was currently getting tortured right now.
William sprinted forward activating his Agile Reflexes skill as he leapt into the course after the skinny boy.
"Agile Reflexes skill activated. Minus 5 energy," the system said. "Temporary boosts dodge chance and speed for a short time, allowing the cat to evade attacks effortlessly. This skill lasts for 5 minutes."
He ran like a cat through the course like he had only been playing this sport since he was a child. He caught up to the skinny boy who was just about to kick his teammate out of the way when William grabbed the skinny boy's leg yanking him back. The skinny boy yelped as he dropped the ball and without hesitation William snatched it switching directions as he started to make his way over to the goal.
"Wow," Coach Grayson mused. "I'm glad he chose this club."
As William was on his way towards the goal the system began to speak.
"Daily Quest Completed: Help someone out from danger. 5 exp has been awarded. Exp 200 of 200. Congratulations, you have reached level 3. Exp 0 of 365. Your body has improved that a stat point has been awarded and because of the system, it will allow you to allocate your stat point at your discretion. A new skill has been unlocked."
A new skill, William thought as he passed the ball to his sister. I wonder what that would be?
