Chapter 39: The Enhanced Adamantine Sealing Chains
Boom!
The ruins of the building burst apart as a long, crimson form erupted from underground.
It was immense—towering as high as a skyscraper.
The Ultimate Summoning Beast had surfaced completely. Its red body writhed, covered in a countless number of slimy, wriggling tentacles.
The sight alone was enough to trigger anyone's deepest disgust.
From its original mass of flesh, the creature had now transformed into a full-fledged nightmare.
The Land of the Sea really lost its mind, Alex thought dryly. Did they actually think they could control something like this?
What stood before them was nothing less than a biological disaster—one that could easily wipe out its own creators.
Beside Konan, a tightly wrapped "mummy" began to move, muffled groans escaping from within.
Konan flicked her hand, recalling her paper bindings to reveal Uzumaki Honoka beneath.
"Haah… I could barely breathe…" Honoka gasped, taking a deep breath before turning to Konan. "Thank you for saving me."
Then she saw the towering monster and her expression hardened.
"That creature has already evolved into its complete form. If it continues to grow, it'll become a catastrophe for the entire ninja world."
Even as she spoke, dozens of tentacles shot out from the beast in every direction, striking deep into the forests of Summoning Island.
Giant centipedes, scorpions, gorillas—all the native summoning beasts were seized at once. None could resist; the tentacles coiled around them, and the tiny fanged pores along their surfaces dug in to drain blood and flesh.
One by one, the massive beasts shriveled to dry husks.
Rivers of crimson life essence surged through the tentacles and flowed into the creature's body.
Its colossal form swelled once more—its growth seemingly without limit.
Honoka's face paled further. "If this continues, it'll keep getting bigger, stronger… unstoppable. The beasts on this island will be gone soon—and after that, it'll move to the nearby islands. The people of the Land of the Sea will become its prey… then the creatures of the ocean… then the entire world."
The thought made her chest ache with guilt. The monster's creation was partially her doing.
Konan frowned. "You're saying this thing can grow infinitely?"
"Highly likely," Honoka answered grimly. "It hasn't even reached its true limit yet."
"The Ultimate Summoning Beast was made by combining the strengths and genes of every other summoning beast we could find. Its potential is immense."
A bitter smile crossed her face. "We researchers thought we could control it. What arrogance…"
She stared at the monster with a resolute expression. "I don't know who you are, but thank you for saving me. Now please, get away from here. I released this monster—it's my responsibility to stop it. I won't let it harm the world any further."
Her voice softened into a whisper. "I don't want anyone else to die because of me."
Then, without hesitation, she leapt forward, landing before the monstrous creature.
"You abomination… you should never have existed. This was my sin—one I'll correct myself!"
Whish! Whish! Whish!
"Adamantine Sealing Chains!"
Honoka shouted as nine golden chains erupted from her back, shooting forth at blinding speed.
They wrapped around the Ultimate Summoning Beast in an instant, binding its massive frame.
Thanks to Alex's earlier healing, her chakra reserves had fully recovered—and perhaps due to her near-death experience, her Uzumaki bloodline had awakened to a deeper level.
Her Adamantine Sealing Chains were now far stronger than before.
Where she had once only been able to produce five, she now manifested nine—just like Kushina Uzumaki herself.
As one of the Uzumaki clan's greatest hereditary techniques, the chains' power to restrain was unmatched.
Even the complete Nine-Tails had once been immobilized by them—let alone this creature, which was still far from that level.
But this was clearly Honoka's limit.
"D*mn it… I can hold it—but I can't kill it…" she gritted her teeth, forcing the chains to constrict.
Blood splattered from the creature's surface, raining from the sky—but the damage barely mattered.
Its regenerative ability was monstrous; whatever injuries the chains caused were instantly healed.
Honoka's face grew pale again. "Still not enough chakra… if only I had more…"
Holding the beast in place was already all she could manage. To exert killing force would require far more chakra than she had.
Behind her, Konan watched in quiet awe as nine golden chains stretched across the heavens.
"So this… is the power of the Ōtsutsuki lineage—the Uzumaki bloodline…" she murmured.
Even though Honoka's own combat strength was far below jōnin level, her bloodline alone allowed her to restrain such an enormous monster.
Konan recalled the old stories—how when the Uzumaki Clan still thrived, even a single jōnin could subdue rampaging Tailed Beasts with ease. She had once doubted those tales; now she believed them completely.
The Uzumaki sealing arts truly were the nemesis of colossal creatures—especially the Adamantine Sealing Chains.
Even a Bijū could be bound helplessly within them.
"The power of a bloodline limit… it's truly an insurmountable wall for ordinary shinobi…"
[Indeed,] Alex agreed. [The shinobi world revolves around bloodlines. Every powerful kekkei genkai is connected, in some way, to the Ōtsutsuki.]
Konan's expression softened into a rare smile, as radiant as a blooming violet hydrangea. "Fortunately… I have you."
With Alex's power, even the limits of bloodline could be broken. The strength of such clans would one day flow within her as well.
A bloodstained paper sheet floated before Alex—sampled earlier from Honoka's wounds.
With the Chimera Technique, he could refine it into pure Uzumaki bloodline essence. But now… he had a better option.
Alex's gaze turned toward Honoka's back, where nine golden chains blazed with divine light.
Her bloodline had evolved; her chakra and vitality were far more potent now. A fresh sample would be far superior.
[Konan, lend Honoka a hand.]
Without outside help, Honoka would exhaust herself before destroying the creature. Regardless of whether its growth potential was as terrifying as she claimed, it was far too dangerous to leave alive.
Konan nodded firmly. She raised her hand—and vast swarms of paper surged forward, sweeping toward the Ultimate Summoning Beast.
