[Rin's voice, echoing faintly]:
"Obito… I'll always be watching you."
"You'll save the world one day… and I'll see it all."
"So smile, okay? You look better when you smile."
Those words—the warmth, the laughter—
now replayed in Obito's mind like a broken film reel.
Only now, every memory shattered into ashes.
He stared at the body lying in the rain.
Rin's lifeless eyes reflected the lightning in the sky,
and Obito's trembling lips barely formed her name.
Rain poured down his face.
No one could tell if it was water—or tears.
The Birth of Despair
A cold wind howled across the battlefield.
The Mist-nin surrounding the scene froze.
Because from the shadows of the forest…
a boy stepped out.
His eyes glowed a deep, furious crimson—
the tomoe spinning faster, faster—
two… then three… and then—
the pattern fractured, twisting into something far darker.
A Mangekyō Sharingan.
At that exact moment, far away, Kakashi's left eye—
Obito's gift—
shone the same cursed pattern before he collapsed from chakra exhaustion.
And Obito Uchiha lost himself.
The wind became a storm.
The rain turned to knives.
Thunder cracked like the wrath of the gods.
He stumbled forward through the mud, every breath a roar.
With every step, the earth trembled beneath him.
[Mei Terumī]: "His chakra… it's suffocating."
[Gaara]: "This isn't rage. It's despair made real."
The Demon in the Rain
"...This can't be real," he whispered.
"This kind of thing… I won't accept it!"
A volley of shuriken cut through the storm.
They pierced his body—
and passed straight through.
The Mist-nin froze.
"What—what kind of jutsu is this?!"
Obito's head snapped up.
His eyes were no longer human.
He stepped forward.
The mud cracked beneath him—then exploded outward.
"I said I WON'T ACCEPT THIS!!!"
He lunged.
The ground burst open, wooden spikes erupting from the earth.
One Mist-nin barely had time to scream before a root impaled him through the chest.
Blood splashed across Obito's pale mask.
He didn't even flinch.
[White Zetsu]: "Mokuton… Wood Release?! So that's why he chose you…"
The remaining Mist-nin panicked.
"Fall back! There's too many anomalies! Take the girl's body—"
That one sentence broke the last thread of Obito's sanity.
"Don't you dare… touch her."
The boy's silhouette blurred into white lightning.
When he reappeared, three Mist-nin were already cleaved in half.
Blood rained through the storm, painting the sky red.
Another leapt toward him, blade raised.
It passed harmlessly through Obito's chest—
then struck his own ally instead.
Obito's body flickered, intangible one moment, monstrous the next.
He moved like a ghost wearing a god's fury.
Cracks spread through the battlefield,
blood mixing with the rain until the soil itself turned crimson.
The Mist-nin began to scream.
"Run—RUN!!"
Too late.
Roots exploded from the ground, skewering everything they touched.
Dozens of bodies hung suspended on twisted branches,
their blood dripping like rain from a cursed tree.
[Sarada]: "Even through the screen… I can feel his despair."
[Boruto]: "He watched the girl he loved die—and couldn't stop it…"
[Shikadai]: "So this is what war does to people."
[Kakashi]: "…I never wanted to kill her."
In a small apartment, Kakashi Hatake stared at his trembling hands.
He could still feel it—
the warmth of Rin's body impaled on his Lightning Cutter.
He never meant to…
She had leapt forward herself.
The Birth of the Devil
The rain fell heavier.
Thunder rolled.
And as the blood pooled at his feet,
Obito whispered—almost gently:
"…I understand now."
He raised his head.
The moon above shone a pale, bloody red.
"This world…"
His voice cracked, hollow and cold.
"...is hell."
The mask on his face cracked open.
Through the fissures, tears mixed with blood.
He knelt beside Rin, cradling her in his arms.
Her hair clung to his fingers, her skin already cold.
"Rin… wait for me."
"I'll build a world where you can smile again."
"A world without pain… without war…"
Lightning flashed behind him.
The field of corpses glistened like mirrors of scarlet glass.
And in that reflection, a demon was born.
[Itachi]: "To think… such pain could awaken such power."
[Indra]: "Loss and rage are the twin gates to the Mangekyō."
[Sasuke]: "Tch… stop staring at me, I was ten, alright?"
[Shisui]: "Sure, little bro. Keep telling yourself that."
The image froze:
Obito standing alone in a lake of blood,
Rin in his arms, the storm raging around him.
And above, the full moon—
reflecting the birth of the man who would one day destroy the world.
