Chapter 290 - The Storm is Coming

Woo… woo…

On the already collapsed platform, air currents rotated clockwise, slowly at first, then picking up speed, quickly forming a tornado. This wind Dragon drew all the surrounding flames, filling every inch of the wind column.

The monster was in the eye of the storm.

Lex looked and saw that the woman, missing one side of her chest, had scales like Dragon scales appearing on her burnt skin. These scales quickly turned fiery red, and at the same time, invisible wind blades sliced across her body, making the scales screech, sparking, and peeling off her skin.

She struggled to resist the damage from the wind blades and flames, and seemed capable of surviving between the two.

This was the ability of a Rose Bishop. Beyonder of this sequence could use flesh magic, including body regeneration.

And she began to counterattack.

She raised an arm towards Miller, and that arm suddenly shot out like a cannonball, piercing through the flames and whirlwind, reaching Bishop Miller in an instant.

The Bishop's cassock swelled violently, and a gust of wind, like a wall, slammed out, blocking the arm and causing it to explode in mid-air, scattering countless pieces of flesh. They landed on the ground, on gold artifacts, and on pillars, corroding blood-filled holes in all these objects.

The corrosive marks spread rapidly from their centers!

"Roldor!"

Hearing Miller's shout, Roldor unhesitatingly raised the Spiritual Blade, which had already turned to scale '3' and was operating at overload. Painful whispers echoed in Roldor's ears. While enduring these whispers, he used the ability of the spirit currently within the blade.

All abilities!

The thick-lipped Captain of the Punishers's body rapidly expanded, turning into a giant two to three meters tall, and a pair of huge bat wings suddenly unfurled behind him. At this moment, Roldor's skin was dark and sinister, and goat horns curved and extended from his head, covered in countless mysterious patterns.

When his bat wings were fully spread, they were wreathed in pale blue flames, emitting a strong smell of sulfur.

It turned out.

The spirit currently being used in the Hidden Blade Staff was that of a demon!

This was the strongest spirit in the staff. Only by turning the knob to scale 3 could Roldor use its full abilities.

Once incarnated as a demon, Roldor spread his arms, and pale blue fireballs, like a thousand cannons firing simultaneously, blasted from above his head, covering the area on the platform.

At the same time, Roldor maintained clear eyes, staring at the platform, while uttering extremely foul demonic words.

"Die!"

A figure stumbled out of the flames on the platform and rolled onto the ground. From Lex's perspective, the woman was clutching her chest in pain; the arm she had used as a cannonball had grown back at some point.

She was uncontrollably spitting out blood with mottled red rust, mixed with fragments of internal organs. If it were any other Beyonder, without using a Spell like a substitution technique, she would probably be lying down by now.

But she, possessing the characteristics of a Rose Bishop, still raised her head, stubbornly looking at Roldor, and her lips moved rapidly, as if speaking, but no one heard her make any sound.

A look of struggle flashed in Roldor's eyes. He suddenly stopped his attack, as if being controlled. But at this moment, a sharp whistling sound echoed in the hall. Beside Bishop Miller, several spears formed by whirlwinds appeared at some point. The Bishop pointed at the woman, and the wind spears shot out one after another, easily piercing her Dragon scales protecting her body, destroying her flesh, and interrupting a Spell she was casting.

Roldor let out a long breath, and then the spiritual long blade transformed. It became a magnificent long blade made purely of flames—this was the 'Lava Sword', capable of directly severing thick stone pillars with a single strike, leaving the cut surface looking as if it had been melted.

Clutching the 'Lava Sword', Roldor lunged at the monster, using the demon's power and speed to launch a furious assault on his opponent.

It seemed the Captain of the Punishers had gained the upper hand.

After firing all the wind spears, Bishop Miller shook his head, which Lex found a bit puzzling.

"What's wrong, Bishop?"

Hearing Lex's question, Bishop Miller gave a wry smile and said, "We alone cannot completely eliminate this monster. Our spirituality will be exhausted, and Roldor's state cannot last. You also consumed a lot in that last attack, didn't you?"

"But that thing, just the vitality of a Rose Bishop is enough to sustain it until we run out of all our spirituality and means. But don't forget, it also has the abilities of a Dream Walker and a Gatekeeper."

"So right now, we are only superficially in a good position. But it is waiting for an opportunity. Waiting for the opportunity to kill all of us…"

Hearing the Bishop's words, the short Adventurer Green couldn't help but shrink back in fear: "Then what should we do?"

Bishop Miller didn't answer, but instead asked, "Do you have faith?"

Green shrugged: "I am a follower of the Lord of Storms."

Hana made the sign of the cross on her chest four times and said, "I believe in the Night Goddess."

When Miller looked over, Lex shrugged: "I am an unbeliever."

Although the original owner believed in the Night Goddess, what does that have to do with me, Lex?

Miller nodded: "Very good, Mr. Rayleigh, and Mr. Green, you will pray with me later. Especially you, Mr. Rayleigh, I need you to radiate your spirituality to the greatest extent."

"Although you are an unbeliever, the spirituality you radiate will become a firefly that attracts the attention of the gods. We need the Lord of Storms to pay attention to this place, to observe the evil that is breeding and spreading here!"

With that, Bishop Miller took out a sealed iron box from his cassock. He carefully opened it, and Lex saw a section of white finger bone inside, like high-quality white jade.

And around this finger bone, tiny electric currents occasionally leaped.

Bishop Miller called over the remaining Enforcers, only letting Roldor entangle the monster, and then solemnly said: "Next, you will follow me in chanting. Remember, use Hermes."

Lex and the others nodded, and then they saw Bishop Miller, with a devout posture, holding up the section of finger bone, and spoke in Hermes.

"King of the Sky, Emperor of the Sea"

"Lord of Calamities, God of Storms!"

"Your followers implore your attention,"

"Implore your attention to this area, where evil is spreading, and innocent and good people are being harmed."

"Oh, Lord of Calamities, God who controls storms, we implore you to send down lightning to drive away evil, and strike your enemies fiercely."

"Storms above!"

According to the Bishop's request, Lex radiated his spirituality to the greatest extent, solemnly chanting in Hermes. Vaguely, he felt a subtle and obscure connection between himself, Bishop Miller, that sacred finger bone, and an existence far beyond reality.

When he and everyone else chanted the last line simultaneously, he felt a violent aura appear at the top of the hall, as if a terrifying storm was about to descend.
