Chapter 7 - The kind Nurse

Oh, uhh, my name is...

At the time I didn't know what to do. The body I was in wasn't mine, and until I arrived here, I didn't know anyone here, so would it be wise to use my human name?

Arghhhh!!!!

What do I do? What if she thinks I'm some kind of fraud? I have to think of something fast before I get arrested for identity theft. The nurse put her hand on my head and gently patted it before I could say anything. She smiled down at me with a gentle, almost angelic smile, and my injury was all but forgotten as warmth swiftly filled the room.

"BONK!!!"

Hina... sweetheart, You appear to be here for your afternoon appointment. What have you gotten yourself into with a wound like this, hmm?

I just asked for directions, so it's not like I did anything wrong. How does someone get stabbed as a result of that? Or that would be my explanation, but it's not like it wasn't entirely true. The nurse must be familiar with the girl who previously owned this body, or else why would she be so pushy about knowing why I got hurt? It's the doctor's job, yes, but she seems a bit too comfortable and concerned for me outside of professionalism.

She was a young adolescent girl whose body was clearly weak and frail, which explains why the nurse was familiar with her. I awoke in a daze after pulling a stunt that resulted in my death on a train full of people. I hope they don't come after me again, but it appears that I've learned something about my situation.

I looked up, said hello to the nurse, and then mentioned that I was walking by when I unexpectedly ran into a stranger who stabbed me with a knife. Fortunately, the wound wasn't deep in my vital organs, so can I receive standard care for something more serious?

"Yes, sweetheart, I will immediately address that. While I take care of you, simply lie down on the bed. Once I cast a non-pain spell on you, this won't hurt at all. When I sew your stomach shut, I swear you won't be able to feel your gut getting sealed up."

"EX-EXCUSE ME???"

"HEALING SPELL??"

My body instantly sprang to life out of appall at the nurse's words with a look of shock and suspicion. I mean... who wouldn't feel suspicious after hearing what the nurse just said? "Um, Miss, I know I'm a child, but that doesn't mean you can put me at ease with some kind of fairy tale thing. Those only exist in books; there's no such thing as magic."

The nurse's expression remained unchanged despite my rude remarks. Instead, she leaned in my space closely, sat beside me, gently placed her hand on my head, and encouraged me to return to the cozy white bedding.

"There, there. It seems the injury might've caused some memory loss, Hina. We can't have your mom finding out you got injured like this; it'd break her already fragile heart, and while you're here, I won't tell her that you've caused trouble and got injured for her sake again Honestly, if things were a bit better for you and your mom, maybe you wouldn't have to steal from people all the time just to get by, silly girl. The next time you need money or food, just come by me. Don't cause trouble like this. Getting beat up was the first, now getting stabbed. Geez, what next, a broken leg??

The nurse seemed to care about the person Hina a lot, and it looked like she knew my mom very well. I should make a mental note to come back here for more information with better protection next time, hehe...

"Alright, let's get started. Oh healing god from up above, hear my call and prayers. Help give me thy power and strength enough to heal this child; rain your blessings down on me. Hear me!!! Hear my voice at command."

It was like magic. My head started to feel warm and fuzzy. When I was in school, I used to have a hard time falling asleep. I would lie awake all the time, sometimes working on assignments or listening to depressing music on repeat until my eyes gave out and I fell asleep. Sometimes I'd resort to sleeping medications, but they never had any effect on me... but somehow at this moment my body wasn't giving me a single ounce of trouble and was falling asleep on its own, but before I could, I caught a glimpse of objects moving around. A green magic glow permeated the air, carrying threads, needles, ointments, disinfectants, and wound cleansers.
