Chapter 23 - We Meet Again?

Without thinking much on the strange encounter I just had, I simply scratched my head while walking back to the vending stall before Big Sis came back and scolded me. I doubt she would, but she seems like the type to, and after the argument she had with the older one, I'd hate to be the next one. What an embarrassing situation, I thought, because even though it felt kind of awkward at times pretending to be someone else living someone's life, and getting the world class treatment by doing nothing uts funny really back in my old life things were never the greatest becuase if i wanted aproaval i have to scrape for it like left over table scraps no matter what i did it was never good enough even when i started working my ass off just to suite thier demanding they never stopped always with the pressure and no support so i started taking life as a joke if im such a clown in my family and to my own mother whats the point of being so serious all the time but here its different everyones equal no one fights no one blames each other or pin any responsibilty on one sole person alone and i also cant forget working together as a team and to be honest i dont want to return to my old life or world but i still have to figure out why and how i got here that mission still hasnt died down yet i will continou my journey with determination and the familial bond i now share with these people who I've never met in my entire life.

After pushing past the crowded group of people i finally made it to the vending stall that had the blue cloth draped over it to protect from the sun i was able to find my way around wuicklt depite it being my first time due to the landmarks I placed on the wooden posts i was lucky no one stole them becuase the landmarks i used were coins glued to the posts found them on the ground its a wonder what people throw away even the poor oh well i wont complain much about it since those coins were my ticket out for a stroll to clear my head and find my way back and sadly the results might not be what i wanted ebcuase i ended up doing more damage than good by adding to the cluster of thoughts that was already weighing my head down and now this mysterious man that pops out of nowhere really i wonder who he and if killed his duaghter if so may her little soul rest in peace and find its way home to the heavens above and im saying and thinking all of this while waiting for big sis to come back and you know ive been calling her big sis the whole time i got here but havent learned her name yet it feels a bit weird for me to say that twenty four seven all the time so when she comes back ill try to bring it up and ill ask it like i still havent recovered all my memories i cant let her think im a vermen infesting her home and life nooo absolutly none of that.

I looked up, hearing the faint voice of someone calling my name. It was big sis coming with a handful of artifact books, scrolls, and some extra food supplies, and as she carefully laid them on the floor, they made a noticeable thud when they hit the dirt floor. I was surprised with how heavy they were. She's so incredibly strong, like a superhero. I'm lucky to have a strong big sister around. Maybe she can lift me sometime after all. I am now in the body of a kid, so it can't hurt to go back to the good old days when everything was fine and not so harsh.

"Ah, Maya, there you are, my cute, adorable little sissy. I'm so exhausted running up and down grabbing some extra stuff, but I just don't understand why Mom would want these items. I mean, she's never fooled around with magic scrolls and books before, so I don't see why she kept sending magic spells every minute; it was torture having to do all of this in one go."

To be fair, she really did look like someone who kept working a nine-to-five job every day, and maybe even worse with how messy her hair was along with how much she was panting and breathing heavily, and wait a minute... if I remember correctly, Mom went out after we left for the market and didn't take the magic tell paper with her, so if not Mom, then that must mean the person behind that pretending to be Mom while sending big sis on those errands must be...

"Kariyuku!"

I turned my head to the side, feeling bad for Big Sis, seeing how he played her like this, and I'm guessing it was for the argument they both had at the breakfast table. I can already picture his smug expression on his face, laughing his butt off behind the scenes, and I know it's a bad thing not to tell the truth, but I might have to pretend like I didn't figure out this little bit of information because she will kill him. It's best she found out through Mom because eventually when we get home, she will ask her about the extra shopping things.

"Alright, this is a lot of stuff to carry, and I won't be able to manage this, so I will have to use my portable expandable interdimension box."

I looked up at Big Sis with curious eyes. What's a portable box thingy, and what does it do? And it's like she was reading my mind because she then turned to me before giving a detailed explanation on what it does.

"You must be curious, little sis, about what this does and why I have it. You see, I got this for my birthday from Mom a year back to make shopping a lot easier. It works like a vacuum; it has many tiny little dimensional pockets that can suck up and hold as many things as you desire, like an endless black pit. You can put anything you desire, no matter how big, and it will hold it all. All I have to do is open the box, cast a tiny spell, and boom, just like that, all the groceries, artifacts, scrolls, and books are gone into the little box, and to get them out, you do the same but by saying the spell backwards. Oh, and just in case you ever need the box, the spell goes something like this."

"Interlude the shape into dimensions and open up a world of endless space. See how simple that was?"

simple??? I looked back at her to see she had a cheerful smile. "Is she kidding? I thought to myself it was more than simple; that was so freaking cool—the small box just sucked all the things she had into one tiny small box. Can you believe that? I don't know what to make of this despite already being nearly mauled and eaten by that monster.

Alright, little sis, it's time for us to go home, but not on the train this time. I had a long day, and I won't be able to take another step, so we will be doing another mode of transportation.

I was thankful she said that. If anything, I didn't like the train ride. For one, it was the crowd of people, which I always hate, and two, the smell was too ripe for my nose. I couldn't stand the smell, so I forced myself to sleep half the way, and thinking about it now is making me want to vomit on the spot. And I wouldn't have to wait long because with the snap of Big Sis's fingers, she opened a portal right before us, and I reached up and grabbed her arm, feeling a little nervous and overwhelmed by the sudden change in time. It stopped for a moment, and it was only me and her who could still move and speak, so in the moment, I asked her, "Big Sis, what's your name? I can't remember due to the incident. I'm sorry to bother you.

I look down, afraid Big Sis would think anything bad while preparing to be hit due to reflex and always getting hit for the slightest mistake or slip-up in my old life. I've only met Big Sis for a few days; I can tell she's not like that, but can you blame me for thinking that? When I'm used to being tormented and abused mentally every day, you wouldn't know how happy I was when she took my hand from her arm and placed my hand in hers, holding it tight while looking at me with the smile of an angel as she said to me in the sweetest and softest voice I've ever heard.

"My name is Ayumi, little sis, and never you forget it next time, silly. Now let's go home, shall we?"

I felt a sudden warmth again of family bond and belonging, as if I'm in the right place. There's no need to doubt my feelings anymore; what I'm feeling is genuine love and care for these people, and it's not because of the body's owner but because of how they treat me, like I'm more than just family, as if I am their entire world, and so I closed my eyes and let big sis Ayumi lead the way into the portal back to our family at home.

We finally made it home after a few minutes, but it was already late. I told big sis Ayumi that I wanted to stay outside for a while to catch my breath after everything that happened today...and I still didn't tell her about the strange man and the words he said. "I don't want to worry her anymore about my condition, so let this be my one secret," I said to myself while walking to a tree before holding on to the branch at the bottom grabbing it, and hauling myself up in the tree, sitting on the branch while looking at the stars that shine so bright in the sky when suddenly I heard the rustling of trees. That was soon followed by a shadow-like figure in the darkness, who then revealed himself to me as soon as I closed my eyes and fell asleep, but before that, I heard him say.

"Ah, we meet again, little human."
