Upon seeing George, Toria's heart tightened with fear. She hadn't forgotten that just a few hours ago, she had flooded Leo's apartment.
"Hehe, Assistant George, what a coincidence," she said with a forced smile, already pulling out her phone to quickly find Elder Madam Carter's number and send her a message.
But just as she sent the message, George snatched the phone from her hand. "Assistant George, what are you doing?" Toria feigned anger.
Without even glancing at Toria's phone, George handed it to the bodyguard behind him and said calmly,
"This way, please."
He then led Toria to the side. As the car door opened, Toria bent down to get in and saw a man sitting inside, looking relaxed with his eyes closed as if he were napping.
Her heart pounded loudly in her chest. She swallowed nervously and forced a flattering smile.
"Young Master Carter, you... wanted to see me?"
The man slightly turned his head, lazily opening his sharp eyes to look at her.
"Have you thought about how you want to die?"
His words were few but carried a chilling weight, spoken as casually as if he were commenting on the weather.
Yet, he was deciding the fate of Toria with a kingly disdain.
"Hehe hehe hehe... Of course, I want to... live a long life."
Toria forced a smile, while inwardly cursing Leo's ancestors up to eighteen generations.
The man intertwined his fingers over his abdomen, his long fingers tapping rhythmically on the back of his hand. He spoke loudly, "George, drive."
"Huh? Wh-where are we going?"
Toria's heart raced with panic.
The time it took her to ask the question, George had already gotten into the car and started the engine.
Leo closed his eyes again, saying nothing. She turned to George in desperation, "Assistant George, where are we going?"
"The hospital."
"The hospital?"
Toria's face turned pale, her heart pounding with anxiety.
Thinking about how Leo had threatened her, she grew even more terrified.
She prided herself on never being afraid of anyone all these years, but she had to admit, she was truly scared of Leo.
It's over, it's over…
Toria leaned weakly against the car seat, too drained to even put up a fight. She was waiting for a call from Elder Madam Carter.
Ring, ring, ring—
The sudden ringing inside the car startled Toria as she saw Leo pick up his phone, filling her with both surprise and hope.
She leaned over, glancing at the screen. It was a call from Elder Madam Carter.
"Grandma, help me! Leo is going to... mmph..."
Toria barely had time to shout for help before Leo grabbed her neck and covered her mouth.
"If you don't want to die, shut up!"
Leo's piercing gaze shot towards her, filled with a chilling, murderous intent.
Toria nodded vigorously, like a nodder.
Since Elder Madam Carter had called, she felt there was nothing left to fear.
"Grandma, what's up? Holding the phone to his ear, Leo asked.
"Where are you, you rascal? Where are you taking that girl Toria?"
Leo: "..." Silence.
"Don't you dare stay silent. I'm telling you right now, if anything happens to that girl Toria, I'll die right in front of you!"
"Grandma, she's just an insignificant person."
"She may not matter, but I care about the child she's carrying! How many days do I have left as an old woman? I just want to hold a grandchild and see you get married."
"And what makes you think she's qualified to marry into the Carter Family?"
"She's pregnant, so she must stay."
"Whether there's a child or not is still uncertain."
"Then wait. Wait for two months and get it checked. But if you dare harm a hair on her head during this time, I'll bash my head in and join your grandfather."
"…"
"Hand the phone to Toria."
Elder Madam Carter instructed Leo, whose brow furrowed slightly as he gripped the phone tighter. What kind of spell did this damn woman cast on Grandma?
After a moment of hesitation, he released Toria and handed her the phone, putting it on speaker.
"Toria, dear?" Elder Madam Carter called out. Toria wiped her mouth where the man had covered it, her angry little face showing a hint of a smile. "Grandma?"
"Oh, dear, how are you?" Toria tilted her head proudly towards Leo, raising an eyebrow with a look of smug satisfaction.
Then, she suddenly stopped smiling and burst into tears. "Waaah... Grandma, Leo bullied me... waaah... I'm scared..."
Watching Toria switch her expressions so quickly, with acting skills that could rival a professional actress, Leo's eyes narrowed, becoming even more piercing and cold. If it weren't for his grandmother's orders, he might have strangled this troublesome woman already.
"Oh dear, don't cry, don't cry. Rest assured, Grandma has already scolded him. He won't bully you again, I promise."
"Mm-hmm... Toria believes Grandma. But... but..."
"But what?"
"Leo took my phone." "Hmph, that brat is really out of control. Alright, Toria, don't cry. If anything happens, just come to Grandma, okay?"
Even though Toria had only been around for three days, Elder Madam Carter had to admit that Toria was smart, diligent, and overall a good girl. The only downside was her plain appearance, which wasn't particularly attractive.
It wasn't that Elder Madam Carter thought Toria was ugly; she just believed that Toria was more suited for a simple, domestic life. However, with such an appearance, it would be hard to win Leo's heart, making the marriage difficult to arrange.
"Okay, thank you, Grandma."
"Now, give the phone back to Leo."
"Mm~"
Toria responded softly and handed the phone back to Leo.
He turned off the speakerphone and held the phone to his ear.
"Grandma?" "You still remember I'm your grandma, huh? You think you're all grown up now, don't you? Do you even see me as your grandma anymore? How dare you bully that girl? Why don't you just fly to the moon while you're at it?"
On the other end of the line, Elder Madam Carter was fuming with rage.
"Give the phone back to Toria right now. From now on, I'll video call her every day. If I find out she's even slightly mistreated, you can prepare to bury me, you hear?"
"Grandm..." Beep, beep, beep…
Leo didn't even get to finish his sentence before Elder Madam Carter hung up. Clutching the phone, his knuckles cracked menacingly, and his face darkened like a brewing storm.
Toria watched Leo closely, observing his every move. Seeing his extreme anger, she knew that the old lady must have warned him not to bully her anymore.
With that thought, Toria finally felt a sense of relief.
"Give her the phone."
"Yes, boss."
George, who was driving, reached out and handed the phone to Toria.
"Thank you."
Toria quickly expressed her gratitude. Just as she took the phone, a call came in. The screen displayed the name "Grandma Carter."
As she looked at the caller ID, Leo noticed it too.
