Chapter 12 - I'm Really Pregnant

After hanging up the phone, Toria felt a warm sense of comfort from Grandma Carter's kind words, reminding her to reach out if she needed anything. Toria gratefully agreed and ended the call.

"Stop the car."

As soon as she hung up, Toria immediately called for the driver to stop.

Leo's cold eyes turned to her, his hand gripping her chin and forcing her to look at him.

"What, you think having Grandma's support means you can do whatever you want?"

"No."

Toria brushed his hand away, showing no interest in his charm. "Leo, you might be handsome and rich, but not everyone is a gold-digger eager to marry you. You don't need to flatter yourself."

"As for this situation, it was purely an accident. I know you don't want me to get pregnant, and frankly, I don't want to have your child either."

"In two months, when I go for a check-up, you can have George accompany me. If the results show that I'm pregnant, we can arrange for an immediate termination. After that, we go our separate ways."

Listening to her serious tone, Leo's lips curled into a smirk.

"Do you think I would believe anything you say?"

A cunning and deceitful woman with such 'acting' skills—how could he possibly trust her? "Believe it or not, it's the best option, isn't it?" Toria smiled confidently. Her bright smile made Leo feel a surge of disgust.

"Stop the car!"

The car came to a halt, and Toria politely said, "Goodbye."

With that, she pushed open the car door and slammed it shut, causing the vehicle to shake slightly. Inside the car, Leo rubbed his temples, finding Toria extremely troublesome.

"Tap her phone immediately and have someone keep an eye on her from a distance."

"Yes, boss," George replied.

He didn't ask any questions.

Having worked with the boss for many years, he knew exactly what was on his boss's mind.

It was simply a concern that during these two months, Toria might find another man or use other means to get herself pregnant.

...

For the next month and a half, Toria didn't see Leo again

.

Her life returned to normal. At night, she worked as a security guard at Velvet Club.

During the day, she delivered food or cooked meals to take to her foster mother in the hospital.

As for her foster father, he remained in a coma.

One day, while delivering food, Toria received a call from a private investigator.

"Miss Kingsley, I've found the owner of the car involved in the accident," the investigator said.

The driver who caused her foster parents' car accident had fled the scene. After an investigation, it was discovered that the car involved was supposed to be scrapped, making it nearly impossible to trace the driver.

The private investigator managed to find the car and extracted blood samples from it for DNA comparison.

It turned out that the driver was a criminal suspect.

From that moment, Toria was certain that someone from the TurnerFamily had bribed the officers handling the case.

Otherwise, how could a private investigator find out something that the police couldn't?

"Where is the person?"

"I'll be in New Orleans in two hours. I'll contact you then."

"Alright, thank you for your hard work."

After hanging up the phone, Toria murmured, "Dad, Mom, the truth is about to come out. I will get justice for you."

Meanwhile, at the TurnerFamily residence.

Grace received a phone call. After hanging up, she looked nervously at Harvey and Chloe, who were sitting on the sofa.

With a worried expression, she said, "The driver from the car accident has been found by Toria's private investigator. Do you think she already suspects it was us?"

"What? How did Toria catch him? Didn't you say you hired someone reliable?" Daisy's face showed panic.

This matter concerned the TurnerFamily's reputation, and she couldn't afford to be implicated. She was especially worried about the negative impact it could have on her.

Harvey's face darkened. "Chloe has just started getting closer to Young Master Carter.

We can't let Toria find out that we had anything to do with this. If the truth comes out, the TurnerFamily will have no place in New Orleans."

Grace added, "Yes, I'm worried about this too."

Harvey furrowed his brows in deep thought. "The person has already been found by Toria's people. If we don't want the truth to come out, that person must die."

Grace hesitated, "But what if Toria already knows?"

Chloe's face turned icy, with a hint of malice. "Then she must die too! If she doesn't, the TurnerFamily will never have peace."

Grace and Harvey exchanged a glance, their faces full of helplessness.

Although Chloe's methods were ruthless, if Toria found out about this, she would undoubtedly tell Elder Madam Carter. At that point, their family's hopes of climbing up to the Carter's Family would be utterly dashed.

"Alright, I'll figure something out." Harvey, restless and uneasy, got up and left.

Two hours later, on her way back from delivering food, Toria received another call from the private detective.

"Have you already arrived in New Orleans? Where am I supposed to find..."

She couldn't contain her emotions and sounded a bit agitated.

"Miss Kingsley, hello. This is Dina, the assistant to the private detective.

My boss asked me to inform you that we are dropping this case."

"What? I've paid you seventy to eighty thousand dollars, and now you're just dropping it?"

Toria was furious. "The detective in charge of your case was ambushed on the way back to New Orleans. His car was involved in an accident, and the driver was taken away. My colleague was severely injured and is currently in the hospital undergoing emergency treatment."

"How could this happen? Where are you? I'll come to see..." "No need. Goodbye."

With that, the call abruptly ended.

Toria's mind went blank. She stopped her scooter and sat down under the shade of a tree by the roadside.

The sky, heavy with dark clouds, suddenly erupted with lightning and thunder, and a heavy downpour began.

The large raindrops pattered on her safety helmet as she sat there, motionless.

The Turner Family again! They had gone too far this time!

Toria was burning with anger, but at the same time, she felt a tinge of fear towards the Turner Family.

She sat by the roadside for a long while. Just as she abruptly stood up to leave, everything went black, and she collapsed.

In the Hospital.

The unconscious Toria was taken to the hospital by people arranged by Leo to watch over her.

Not long after, she woke up from her unconsciousness. Opening her eyes, she saw the hospital equipment around her and a nurse changing her IV drip.

She raised her hand to rub her dizzy head and asked the nurse,

"How... how did I end up here?"

The nurse finished changing the IV and replied, "You're pregnant. You fainted from exhaustion."

"What? Pregnant? That's impossible. I just had my period a few days ago." Victoria Kingsley shook her head vigorously. She and Leo had only been together a few times that night. Could she have gotten pregnant that easily? This... seemed too easy.

"Nonsense. That was a sign of a threatened miscarriage, which caused the light bleeding. You're a grown woman; how could you not know you're pregnant?"

"Threa...threatened miscarriage?"

Toria Kingsley's mind went blank, a loud buzzing sound filling her head.

Just then, the door to the hospital room swung open, and Leo, whom she hadn't seen in over a month, appeared in her line of sight.
