Chapter 7 - CH…6 punishment

The sky hung heavy above the cliffs, a thick blanket of gray clouds choking the fading light. The wind howled like a wounded beast, tearing at Alex's jacket as she stood at the edge. Below her, the ocean raged—waves slamming against jagged rocks with a force that could shatter bone, devour anything foolish enough to fall into its grasp.

Cold seeped through her skin, through the bruises and cuts decorating her body—her shoulder bleeding, her waist torn open, her thigh numb from pain she no longer cared to feel. The world had already taken everything from her. Now she was simply returning the final piece.

She stepped forward.

The drop swallowed her whole.

Air rushed past her ears, then froze. The ocean hit her like a wall. Darkness cracked open inside her lungs as the current dragged her deeper, spinning her through icy chaos. She didn't fight it. She didn't want to.

So this is drowning, she thought, her body limp as the sea wrapped around her like a cold shroud.

This is what Liz felt… when she died.

Her chest ached—whether from lack of air or grief, she couldn't tell. The memory of Liz's small hands clutching hers, her laugh, her trust… it cut deeper than any wound.

I deserve this. I failed her. I failed my sister. I couldn't protect the only family I had left. She died because of me…

The darkness crept closer, curling around her vision. The world muted, softened. She let her eyes close. She was ready—ready to vanish, to sink, to be swallowed whole by the judgment she had earned.

The current pulled harder, dragging her downward.

And then—something touched her.

A pair of hands—cold, impossibly cold—slid around her from behind. Fingers like shadows curled across her ribs, holding her with an intimate, suffocating gentleness. Darkness moved with purpose now, spiraling, pulsing.

A voice, low and inhuman, brushed the shell of her ear, vibrating through the water, through her bones.

"You are the perfect candidate."

Her mind struggled to understand. Her heart stuttered.

"A broken soul… and one that has abandoned itself to death."

The hands tightened, pulling her deeper, deeper into the void.

"I will take your soul as my vessel."

I don't care, I just want to die and have it all over.

And the sea swallowed the last of her breath.

Alex thought the darkness would be the end.

The cold ocean had claimed her, dragged her down, crushed the last breath from her lungs. She had embraced death, welcomed it. But death… had not welcomed her.

She opened her eyes to nothingness.

A vast, infinite void stretched in every direction—black, silent, endless. She drifted weightlessly, as if suspended in ink. No horizon. No sound. No time.

Her heartbeat was the only thing that proved she still existed.

"Is this… what comes after death?" she whispered to herself, her voice trembling in the emptiness. "Is this hell? Am I meant to float here forever?"

There was no answer. Only silence so complete it pressed against her skull.

She closed her eyes again, trying to surrender to the void. But time here was a cruel thing—stretching, twisting, losing meaning. Days? Months? Years? She couldn't tell. She had no body to measure exhaustion, no sun to mark the passing of hours. Only the sound of her breathing… and the relentless echo of her thoughts.

When she finally felt her mind begin to slip—fraying at the edges—a voice cut through the darkness.

"Alexandra Winston."

Her eyes snapped open.

A blinding white light pierced the void. Alex raised her hands to shield her face—the shock of brightness almost painful after so long in darkness. Slowly, her vision adjusted.

And she saw her.

A woman of light stood before her, glowing as if carved from the heart of a star. Her hair was white as fresh snow, flowing behind her like it moved in an unseen breeze. Her eyes were piercing blue, ancient and knowing. A long, luminous gown shimmered around her.

The woman smiled softly—too softly, and said.

" name: Alexandra winston

"Age: twenty-eight.

Cause of death: drowning.

I am Seraphielle," she said, her voice echoing like chimes in a cathedral. "A divine judge. Today is your reckoning."

Alex stared at her, emotionless.

Seraphielle continued, "You lived a life of service. You protected many. But everything collapsed when Elizabeth Winston died. In your grief, you committed grave sins. You spilled the blood of many—children, the elderly, the innocent. Tell me, Alexandra… are you remorseful?"

Alex's voice was cold, hollow.

"I wasn't remorseful when I killed them… not even when they died in my hands. And I am not remorseful now."

The goddess tilted her head, a shadow of disappointment crossing her glowing face.

"You should have healed. You should have moved forward. Instead, you embraced vengeance. Many innocent souls were lost because of you."

"There are no innocent people ," Alex spat. "And if I had another chance, I'd kill them again. Every one of them. They took the only person I loved, and cared about,.

Seraphielle's voice softened with sorrow.

"What guilt did the children bear? Why kill them?"

"Because their fathers were present that day and helped kill Liz" i killed their children right before their eyes" So they could feel what I felt," Alex answered without hesitation, her tone icy, merciless.

The goddess's glow dimmed slightly.

"So… you seek no forgiveness? No redemption?"

Alex's eyes burned with fury.

"Forgiveness? From you?"

She laughed—a hollow, brittle sound. "I'd rather burn in hell forever than beg for mercy from a god who was never there."

Her voice cracked with rage.

"Where were you when I begged and begged—for help as Liz died in my arms? I prayed until my soul broke, but no one listened. Everything I became is because of you."

Alex lunged forward—but her body didn't move. She was frozen, trapped in place by invisible chains.

Seraphielle sighed, her expression filled with ancient grief.

"Your soul is far from salvation. You have taken too many innocent lives. And ending your own life… that too is a grave transgression."

She stepped closer, raising a hand toward Alex's forehead.

"But even now, a single request for forgiveness could spare you from your fate. One word, Alexandra. Ask, and you may be given another chance."

Alex glared at her, voice low and venomous.

"Go to hell."

The goddess closed her eyes for a moment. When she opened them again, her expression was resigned.

"…Very well. I have chosen a punishment suitable for you. One you will come to understand in time." your punishment will be (.........…)

Do what you want , alex said in cold voice " i dont fucking care

Her voice shifted—becoming gentle, almost mournful.

"We will meet again soon."

The void around Alex began to tremble. Shadows twisted. The world shattered into darkness as something pulled her consciousness downward—ripping, dragging, swallowing.

And Everything went black.
