Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

"Why would you take the boy in, Lady Mito? He disregarded Hashirama-sama's will of fire—a child like that whose thinking is flawed and with that type of power … It might be better if we nip him in the bud before he has time to grow," Hiruzen said with a solemn voice.

It's not as if he hated the boy, but a blade that can be used against its own master isn't a blade worth keeping.

Mito sighed, "It's this type of thinking that worries me about what will happen to the village when I pass."

Looking at Hiruzen, Mito's eyes softened. "Monkey, you have a kind heart, and you wish to protect this village with everything you have, and that is why Tobirama named you Hokage. But this village wasn't created to brainwash others into what we believe and kill them if they don't. No, it was made to show people what could be if we did things a bit differently than the preconceived notion of war and killing. It was to bring people together and share different ideals so we could then grow and blossom. But if one had evil intentions to destroy what we built, only then would we resort to killing."

"But—" Hiruzen tried to rebut, but Mito didn't give him the chance.

"Even now this village is made up of people with different ideals, for example, the Uchiha." At this name, Hiruzen tensed, recalling the teacher's distaste for those people.

This, not escaping Mito's eyes, called her to sigh once again. "Even your teacher, Tobirama, knew the strength the Uchiha contributed toward the village. Was wary of their difference in ideals, prioritizing those they loved above all else and manifesting immense power when that love was lost. Of course he was, but did he try to destroy them in their entirety to achieve it? No, he just did his best to work around their ideals and make it so their ideals didn't hurt the village," Mito said, smiling at the memory of her brother-in-law's constant vigilance toward the Uchiha, watching, plotting, and paranoid of them but never hurting or killing. Okay, hurting maybe, but killing no

"So you're saying we allow the boy to keep his ideals as long as they don't hurt the village," Hiruzen posed.

"Yes, Monkey, but did you also pick up on the other thing he said?" Mito posed in return.

Hiruzen sat thinking for a few seconds about his conversation with Hiruko, "That he just wanted a family and that he'd protect that family no matter what," Hiruzen said.

"Exactly, Hiruzen, and that's why I gave him a family so when the day comes when we are in trouble, as long as his loved ones are here, he'll give it his all to protect them and the village in return." Mito said with a prideful smirk at her plot.

'Plus he was really cute, and I really want to try dressing him up in cute clothes. Aww, all the possibilities.' Mito said, internally thinking about thousands of outfits she would make Hiruko try on.

'Arata would never let me when he was a kid, always saying he wanted to hang out with Dad and see him use wood release. Ugh, I'm getting mad just thinking about it. Know what? I'm going to punch that brat when he gets back.'

Turning back to reality Mito waved to Hiruzen. "Bye, Monkey. Also, Hiruko is to join your team; you can keep those other three. Just add him to it, got it?"

'Do I even have a choice?' Hiruzen thought as he frowned, not outward, of course; Mito would kill him if he did.

"Yes, Lady Mito-sama," Hiruzen said, standing up to bow, and with that, Mito walked out in the Hokage's office , thinking about all the things she was going to do with Hiruko.

"Achoo." 'Come on, who's talking about me again?' Hiruko said, slightly irritated, he had just arrived home and realized he was out of food. Luckily Lady Mito would be picking him up the day after tomorrow on Saturday.

She said this was to give him time to pack up his things and that they would go out with Tsunade, her son, and his wife, who were coming back from a mission, in order to celebrate my adoption.

Just as he was thinking about how much his life was going to change from now on, a luminescent screen appeared in front of him.

[Host, you have completed the mission.]

[You have earned 1 random Devil Fruit.]

'Don't install them yet system.' Hiruko said quickly,

[Reward integration will be put on hold.]

'So it actually worked.'

"Anyway, Hiruzen must've finally decided to take me in as one of his disciples, though I wonder, did he add me on top of the OG 3, or did I replace someone?" Hiruko said after a couple minutes of thinking it through, he came to the conclusion he must've been added to the original three.

"Tsunade is too important to be taken out, being the granddaughter of Tobirama, Hashirama, and Lady Mito. I'm sure Hiruzen already sees Orochimaru's potential and intellect, and though Jariyah has the most possibility of being thrown out of the OG 3, I still doubt he would be." Hiruko analyzed from the already given facts and intuition.

"Anyways, now that my spot in the sanin group is secured, it's time to focus on my strength." Hirukos said, determined to grow stronger.

"Before I install the other rewards, though, I need to think about my previous ones." Hiruko said before starting to go over his rewards from the starter pack.

"The paper art, as I've tested in battle, is useful. It allows me to dodge physical attacks by relaxing my body and taking on the properties of paper; however, speed and reaction speed are factors, so I should probably train both of those. How effective it is against jutsu is also something that needs to be tested."

"My swordsmanship knowledge, on the other hand, still needs to be tested, but I don't have a sword to use, so I'll have to put that on the back burner, but I can still improve my physique," Hiruko said, but then he thought of something.

"Should I seek out Sakumo? He could help me train and would serve as a good sparring partner," but then he put away that thought. "Even if I wanted to, Sakumo has already graduated, and the odds of me running into him around Konoha are small," Hiruko said before moving onto the next thing.

"Next, the Press-Press fruit gave me a noticeable boost in my physique, strength, and chakra, though the boost in strength and physique was negligible, giving me just enough ability to react to Tsunade's pouches and dodge but not actually match her whatsoever. However, the boost to my chakra took me from the very bottom of genin-level chakra to Chunin, sitting me just a bit under Jariya and Orochimaru. Though this might not be for long since I have three more Devil Fruits waiting."

"Observation Haki It's useful for sensing emotions and intent. It seems to work on people like Mito and Root, but it seems if I'm not strong enough to sense the exact places of people, if they are stronger than me by a lot. Not only that, but I haven't tested it in battle," Hiruko said with a bit of a frown before moving on.

"And last but not least, the Will of D, weirdly. It's the only thing that didn't give me memories of how to use it or caused no noticeable change in my body, so what can I do but ask the system? System: What is the Will of D?" Hiruko posed

[The Will of D is a sort of passive skill; it gives the bearer enhanced willpower and impeccable leadership, and their actions will affect the whole entire world.]

'Well, that's incredibly vague. Anything else?'

[I am sorry host but that is all]

'It's fine; anyways, let's crack open our rewards. Go ahead with the system.' Just as those words were spoken, Hiruko felt a pain 20x worse than both previous ones combined; blood poured from his nose and ears, and just like that, his vision went black.
