'Visionary? Why does he keep saying random terms without explanation.'
"Bram! Close the door tight and get every one of the policeman to back away, at least a distance of two houses."
"Got it."
Obeying the blue haired man, Bram ran out of the house, demanding that the police force move away.
Crouching down, the blue haired man picked up one of the severed hands of Graham, before turning around to look back at me.
"You, get out of the house too."
"What? Why?"
"What happens from now on will be dangerous. It is best if you leave for your sake."
'Hah. You think I will fall for that? You just want me out so I don't discover your secret!'
Hell bent on uncovering the truth, I rebuked him.
"So what, I can take it. I also help to kill the wraith you know, not the one Bram and the other two damaged but the wraith that chase after Victor and me!"
"Even so it is still too dangerous--"
"Graham was a close friend of him. Whatever you are doing is clearly involved with him so please... Just let me watch."
Cutting him off, I once again pushed for me being able to stay and watch.
He showed an angry expression at me, but then he seemed to come to a realisation, and in the end decided to say nothing, giving me his tacit approval.
'So it does seem he has a heart...'
My story about Graham must have resonated with him a little, causing him to allow me to stay and watch.
It was then Bram entered back into the house, shutting the door tightly.
"Boss what is going to happen now?"
Bram, as curious as I was about what the blue haired man was going to do, slowly made his way to us, making sure not to step on any blood or body parts.
"We are going to enter the mirror world, pass me the key."
Obeying him, Bram took out the rusted key from his pocket, handing it to him.
"Click"
The familiar sound of the invisible keyhole turning resounded through the air. Beside it, ripples appeared within the air, forming an invisible door.
"Bram you will stay out here and guard the door. Make sure no one enters and god forbid see this door."
After seeing Bram nod in approval, he walked in, followed by me.
I felt the light wash over me once again before being transported into an unfamiliar environment.
Looking around, it seemed like we were brought into one of the abandoned houses in the mirror world; the sight of rotting wood and the floorboards creaking from below us was evidence.
"So what is the hand for?"
Still confused about what was happening, I turned to him for answers, but unsurprisingly he gave me none.
He just threw the hand onto the ground ahead of him.
The hand flopped onto the ground, causing a loud thud to resound through the entire house.
"What are you doing? He may be dead but that is no way to treat a corpse."
Feeling annoyed at his lack of respect for Graham's hand, I walked forward before bending down to pick the hand back up.
'At least give the man a proper burial instead of throwing his corpse randomly all over the place.'
Just then, before I could pick it up, a large figure dropped down out of nowhere, smashing into the hand, flattening it.
"What the?"
Looking up at the thing that crashed down, my face instantly paled. Falling onto my back, I squirmed backwards, trying to get away from that thing as fast as possible.
"I-I see-see you..."
The thing opened its mouth, and out from it was a voice eerily similar to Graham's but distorted somehow.
On its body, countless eyes emerged, all of them staring straight at me.
Observing me.
I could tell it was analysing everything about me in that moment. The same look as I had when I was dealing with my patients.
The annoying stare that seems to pierce through everything.
"What is that!?"
I screamed in fear, looking upwards to the blue haired man who now wore a serious expression.
"A remnant."
Without saying anything else, he charged forward at the creature, extending his hand out.
The creature, sensing the oncoming attack, turned its attention towards him before jumping backwards with incredible force that caused the floor underneath to break.
"Purify!"
At that moment, a blinding white light emerged from his hand, covering the room.
"ARGHH! IT HURTS."
The monster imitating Graham's voice cried out in pain, as black blood seemed to flow out from its countless eyes.
In contrast, the warm light covered over me like a blanket, wrapping me tightly in its embrace, making me feel a surreal sense of calm that seemed to ease the terror within my very soul.
'How is he doing that? I don't see a charm in his hands!'
My world already flipped upside down the other night when I found out supernatural creatures were real.
I was also very surprised at those charms and the rusted key, but I lumped it as them using some medium to channel supernatural powers.
But this? The blue haired man was not using any charms; in fact, he wasn't even holding anything! The same white light that came from the purification charm seemed to flow out from his hands.
Snapping back to reality, I watched as the monster reared its hind legs again like a clockwork machine, springing forward towards the blue haired man and I.
With a speed slightly less than a bullet, it would have most definitely killed the both of us. However, just before it could reach us, a luminescent green barrier with markings etched all over it covered the both of us.
"Piang!"
When it collided with the barrier, it was as if it was hitting a metal shield, causing a loud ringing sound to reverberate outwards.
Though the barrier managed to deflect the attack, it also sustained some damage as cracks formed around the impact site.
Without hesitation, the blue haired man took this opening to move in, striking the monster with a punch.
The area hit by his fist exploded, splattering black blood everywhere, chunks of the monster's greenish-decayed flesh melting from the holy light.
'Such great strength!'
Though most of the damage was done by the light, the impact from the strike itself caused the flesh of the monster to vibrate, causing ripples to travel all throughout its body.
The fight continued with the monster jumping upwards to smash through the roof to avoid the light, but as it reached the ceiling, it collided with another green barrier, causing it to crash back down.
The blue haired man then stepped on the monster's body, pinning it onto the ground.
"Please... Mercy..."
The distorted voice of Graham could be heard once more, pleading for its life. At times it sounded like a male, other times like a female, its emotions oscillating between crying and laughing.
The blue haired man, paying no heed, prepared to launch a final decisive strike towards the monster.
"Wait! If it is pleading for life could it be that Graham is still alive?"
As if he did not hear me, he plunged his fist down into the monster.
"Purify!"
White light started to burst from the monster's body. At first, white light shined out from its eyeballs, causing them to melt and fall out of their sockets, then white light started to pierce through the greenish flesh, poking holes all over it.
"ARGHHH! IT HURTS! HELP ME, AMONNN!"
It was then I ran over in an attempt to stop him from killing Graham, trying my best to pull out his hand from Graham's body.
"STOP! Do you not hear him? He called my name. Graham is alive!"
'Dammit how is he this strong.'
No matter how much I tried, the arm did not budge, firmly lodged within Graham's body. I felt tears start to form in my eyes, dripping down my cheek.
"Please..."
At this point Graham's body was already 80% disintegrated, only a small fragment of him was left. However, he continued to ignore my pleas, knocking me away before grabbing that final fragment and crushing it within white light.
Witnessing this, I fell to the ground, my legs giving out from beneath me.
"Why--"
"Your friend was already dead."
"How are you sure of that!"
Screaming out, I did not want to accept his explanation.
The voice I heard was real.
The pleas from Graham in his dying moment were real!
So what right does he have to judge whether Graham is dead or not!
"Tell me!"
The surroundings became dead silent, only the sound of me breathing heavily could be heard.
It was then the blue haired man, the man who never once showed any emotions other than anger and disgust, made a face I never thought he could.
A face filled with pain and self-loathing.
A face filled with pity and sorrow.
"I'll let you in on a little secret. Those who walk the road to enlightenment and becomes visionaries, when they die, if they are not properly set at peace their lingering soul will transform into a spiritual monster devoid of life. In short a remnant of their past self."
Looking up at him, I knew those feelings were genuine. He wasn't lying.
"Why... Just why..."
Without saying anything else, he walked past me, exiting through the door that led to the physical world.
I was left there all alone, grieving over the death of Graham.
