Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Satisfied Vanity

Faced with Hiratsuka Shizuna's surprised gaze, Sawamura Sayuri simply smiled.

"Shizuka, isn't that right?" Sayuri Sawamura took her laptop out of her backpack.

Also taken out of the backpack was a recently popular light novel.

It's a novel in the most common Japanese fantasy style, and the male protagonist on the cover has a silly yet very sunny smile.

"Like these male protagonists in novels and comics, you might say they're foolish, but they have very lofty ideals and a very firm will, and they put their ideals into practice."

Sawamura Sayuri's finger lightly traced across the novel's cover.

"People like this almost never exist in reality, which is why people create such characters in novels and comics."

She pursed her lips slightly, raised her head a little, and looked at Hiratsuka Shizuka.

"Therefore, I think the ideal of this child named Yukino Yukinoshita is very noble."

"At the very least, ordinary people wouldn't have the same idea or the determination to prepare to put such an ideal into practice."

Upon hearing Sawamura Sayuri's words, Hiratsuka Shizuka fell silent.

However, she had to admit what her senior had said.

Are the protagonists in novels and comics created precisely because they are things that real humans cannot do?

Therefore, Yukino Yukinoshita's ideals cannot be described as foolish; rather, they can be said to be...

"It's a pity. Although Yukinoshita's ideals are very good, this world is cruel."

Sawamura Sayuri fell silent upon hearing her junior's words.

Because she cannot deny the cruelty of this world.

As Hachiman Hikigaya once said, not everyone in this world can succeed after trying hard.

Sometimes, these efforts only become stepping stones for those who succeed.

Because success requires a bit of luck, and also some sacrifices.

Those who put in all their effort but lack a bit of luck can only become stepping stones for those who succeed, and sacrifices on the road to success.

Moreover, people are weak and ugly.

The more outstanding a person is, the more likely they are to be ostracized by others.

Some might say that as long as you are so outstanding that others can't see your back, they will no longer be jealous of you or ostracize you; they will only admire you.

However, this is wrong.

Because there's a saying: "Beyond half a step is genius, beyond a whole step is madness."

People who are slightly better than you can inspire a competitive spirit, leading to competition or even conflict.

Then, if you are even more outstanding, you will be admired and revered by ordinary people.

Because in their eyes, you are a genius, a genius worthy of admiration, a genius who can achieve what they can see but cannot do.

However, once your excellence surpasses their perception, they will begin to ostracize you.

Because your abilities have far exceeded their expectations, you have been treated as an outcast.

"Hey, Xiaojing, what do you want me to do for you after saying all this?"

Sawamura Sayuri pulled herself out of her reverie and looked at Hiratsuka Shizuka sitting beside her.

"I guess I want you, senior, to help me change this child."

Sawamura Sayuri raised her eyebrows and looked at Hiratsuka Shizuka with wide eyes.

Her delicate pink lips trembled slightly, but she ultimately closed them.

"What's wrong, senior?"

Hiratsuka Shizuka paid close attention to Sawamura Sayuri.

Therefore, she immediately noticed her senior's hesitant expression.

"No, it's nothing."

Sawamura Sayuri stood up from her seat and smiled at Hiratsuka Shizuka.

"Xiaojing, could you continue showing me around the school? As for that thing you mentioned, I agree."

"Okay, thank you so much, senior!"

Having received her senior's approval, Hiratsuka Shizuka broke into a bright smile.

"I'll take you on a tour of the entire school right now!"

Seeing her junior's sunny and handsome smile, Sayuri Sawamura's heart skipped a beat.

Faced with such a cute junior, her long-dormant inner otaku almost revived.

However, her life as a woman over the past few years has changed most of her soul, both physically and internally.

At least, Sayuri Sawamura knew that in her previous life, she couldn't imagine what it would be like to wear sanitary napkins down there.

Of course, they would never accept women's clothing like skirts as readily as they do now.

As a private school founded by a large conglomerate, the school has very complete facilities.

Both the library and the stadium are excellent.

The school was so big that Hiratsuka Shizuka and Sawamura Sayuri had only explored half of it when they heard the school bell ring.

"Seeing these students so full of energy, I can't help but feel young again."

Standing at the end of the corridor, watching the students pouring out of the classrooms, Hiratsuka Shizuka sighed.

"Xiaojing, you're still young, you're only over thirty."

Sawamura Sayuri covered her mouth and chuckled softly. She looked up and gave Hiratsuka Shizuka a funny glance.

"You're already thirty."

However, Hiratsuka Shizuka's tone was very calm.

She turned to look at Sayuri Sawamura, her gaze so complex and enigmatic.

Sawamura Sayuri blinked, her mind completely blank.

Hiratsuka Shizuka sighed inwardly and stopped looking at Sawamura Sayuri.

She withdrew her gaze and looked towards a classroom at the other end of the corridor.

In Class 2-G, she looked at Sayuri Sawamura.

"Senior, would you like to go and see your daughter Eriri's class?"

Sawamura Sayuri's eyes lit up as she looked towards the classroom.

"Let's go, let's go take a look!"

As a well-known cartoonist, being an art teacher here naturally comes with certain privileges, such as the ability to choose which classes to teach.

Along the way, Sayuri Sawamura, walking alongside Shizuka Hiratsuka, attracted the attention of countless students.

In particular, the boys' gazes were basically following Sayuri Sawamura's every move.

Even though the boys had lowered their voices, the buzzing sound still lingered when many people were discussing it together.

"Senior, you're really popular!"

Faced with Hiratsuka Shizuna's teasing gaze, Sawamura Sayuri helplessly spread her hands.

Even after so many years, she still couldn't accept such praise with ease.

Although being watched by others satisfied her vanity.
