Chapter 493: Bolo Breath Incinerates the Heavens
The purple-skinned captain's eyes bulged. He couldn't believe what he was seeing. A full-power volley from their Energy Blasters couldn't even break the target's skin? It defied all logic. Even a full-grown giant dinosaur would have been roasted alive.
"Shoot! Keep shooting! Don't stop!" the captain roared until his voice cracked.
The grunts raised their weapons again, but Kaido had lost his patience for playtime. He was here to show off for the Shop Manager. If he couldn't even wipe out a few lackeys efficiently, where would Kaido of the Beasts put his face?
He gripped the long handle of the Hassaikai with both hands. The dark red lightning of Conqueror's Haki began to surge madly around him once again. This time, the power was even more violent. The air popped and cracked, and the blue grass of Namek tore apart under the invisible, crushing pressure.
Kaido kicked off with his right leg. The rock at the bottom of the crater was pulverized into fine powder. His massive body blurred into a black phantom, moving far faster than the naked eye could track.
In less than half a second, he leaped out of the pit and appeared directly in front of the captain. His colossal frame bore down like a mountain, completely engulfing the alien in shadow.
The captain didn't even have time to raise his gun. All he saw was a giant spiked club, wreathed in black lightning, rapidly expanding in his vision.
"Thunder Bagua!" Kaido roared.
The Hassaikai swept out with apocalyptic force, shattering the air itself with an ear-piercing sonic boom.
The captain didn't even manage a scream before his upper body was smashed into bloody paste. The terrifying impact didn't stop there; it carried through, catching the three grunts behind him in the violent shockwave.
The sickening crunch of shattering bones rang out in rapid succession as four living aliens were instantly reduced to a mist of crimson blood. Severed limbs scattered everywhere. The gale blew the blood mist away, leaving behind a deep trench hundreds of meters long. At the end of the trench, several small hills had been cleanly sheared off.
The remaining ten or so grunts were paralyzed with terror. The Scouters on their ears popped and shattered one after another, burying glass into their cheeks and necks, but no one cared about the pain.
This display of pure, physical violence completely shattered their understanding of reality. In their minds, only powerful energy waves could cause such devastation. Leveling a mountain with a wooden club was a fairy tale.
"Monster! Run! We have to report to Lord Dodoria!" the crocodile-headed grunt shrieked in terror, frantically mashing the flight button on his combat suit.
The others followed suit, their feet leaving the ground as they desperately tried to flee into the sky. Once they were airborne, this brute-force native wouldn't be able to touch them.
Kaido looked up at their retreating backs, scoffing dismissively.
"Trying to run? I haven't even warmed up yet."
Kaido's chest expanded massively as he sucked the surrounding air into his lungs. Deep within his throat, a blinding light ignited, compressing terrifying, extreme heat.
He didn't even need to shift into his Azure Dragon form. With his currently enhanced physical body, he could directly unleash his dragon techniques.
He opened his maw.
"Bolo Breath!"
A massive, devastating pillar of blazing fire erupted outward, shooting into the sky with the power to incinerate everything in its path. The green sky of Namek was bathed in a fiery orange glow.
The fleeing grunts were caught by the flames in mid-air. They didn't even have the chance to struggle. Their durable combat armor melted the instant it touched the heat, immediately followed by their flesh.
Without a single scream escaping the inferno, over a dozen aliens were vaporized entirely. Not even ashes remained.
The sky returned to a deathly stillness. Only the acrid smell of burnt ozone proved that a one-sided slaughter had just occurred.
The Namekian elder stared blankly at the scene, the child in his arms having stopped crying. They looked at Kaido as if he were a true demon god.
Kaido exhaled a puff of scorching white steam and hauled the Hassaikai back onto his shoulder. The weakness of this trash didn't even spark his interest. They couldn't even make him break a sweat.
He turned around and walked toward the paralyzed elder, ready to force the location of the Dragon Balls out of him. Once he got the Dragon Balls and offered them to the Manager, he would definitely receive a reward far greater than that Sky Dragon template. He was going to rub it in Doflamingo's scheming face and Akainu's self-righteous mug. He would show them who the Manager's strongest, most capable enforcer truly was.
But just then, Kaido's Observation Haki picked up a different presence. This energy signature was noticeably stronger than the grunts', and it reeked of nauseating malice.
He stopped and looked up at the distant clouds.
A rotund figure was flying toward him at high speed. It was a pink-skinned, overweight alien with a head covered in grotesque fleshy spikes, wearing an oversized white combat suit.
The fat alien hovered in the air directly above Kaido. His cold eyes swept over the terrifying trench on the ground, then the fresh pool of blood, before finally locking onto Kaido.
The alien tapped the Scouter over his left eye. It beeped softly, but didn't explode like the others, because Kaido had already reined in his Conqueror's Haki.
Looking at the pitifully low reading on his screen, the alien's lips curled into a cruel smile.
"And here I thought it was someone important. Just a wild monkey with a little brute strength. How dare you kill Lord Frieza's men? Today, the great Dodoria will show you the true meaning of cruelty."
Dodoria hovered in the air, looking down at Kaido in the crater. He tapped his green Scouter, which chimed with a short beep. The power level displayed was a mere 5,000.
Because Kaido had completely retracted his aura, in the eyes of an army entirely reliant on machines, he was nothing more than harmless trash.
Dodoria grinned, revealing a mouth full of sharp teeth. The fleshy spikes on his face bunched together, making him look exceptionally repulsive.
"I thought it was some hotshot. A piece of trash with a power level under ten thousand actually dared to kill Lord Frieza's men."
Kaido slammed the Hassaikai heavily into the ground and looked up at the pink blob.
"Frieza? That's exactly who I'm looking for. Since you seem to be in charge, you must know where the Dragon Balls are."
The question infuriated Dodoria. In this vast universe, few dared to speak Frieza's name so casually, let alone treat the great Emperor of the Universe like some two-bit pirate. It was an unforgivable sin.
Dodoria raised a thick arm, aiming his palm directly at Kaido. A blinding pink Energy Wave rapidly expanded in his hand.
"Ignorant monkey. If you don't even know of Lord Frieza, then take your stupidity to hell! Maximum Power Energy Wave!"
