Chapter 20 - Unique Superpowers

Sigurd and Frigga appeared on the Rainbow Bridge.

Frigga looked at Sigurd, who seemed happy to be back in Asgard.

"Sigurd, are you okay?"

Sigurd looked at his sister-in-law's serious face and couldn't help but sigh.

"Everything is okay. I just had a sudden burst of anger when I felt someone spying on us, which I don't like. Although I know that's how the world works, different races spy on their enemies.I don't like people targeting our family."

Frigga looked at Sigurd and immediately understood that his biggest weakness would be his family.

"Sigurd, you should control your emotions. Although we are strong, when enemies are of the same strength, this might become your biggest weakness."

Sigurd heard Frigga's suggestion.

"Sister-in-law, you don't have to worry about family becoming my weakness. My biggest strength is my family."

Odin, who had felt the presence of Sigurd and Frigga when they appeared on the Rainbow Bridge, came to receive them and heard their conversation.

"Correct, our biggest strength is family. When there is no one else in the world to support you, only family will support each other."

Then he looked toward Frigga.

"What happened that made even my brother worried?"

Frigga looked at Odin; she knew her husband was the same type of person, but she explained everything anyway.

Odin listened patiently as the story unfolded. He knew why Frigga was worrying about Sigurd, but he knew his brother better than anyone.

"Don't worry, Frigga. I know my brother way better than anyone. He will never be in a situation where he feels weak at all. He has always been prepared for every outcome, so you don't need to worry."

Sigurd saw his mother coming. He thought she might be worried.

"Look at my boy, finally he has killed someone. Although it was just an ant, it's still his first kill." Bestla was talking to her sisters and walking toward Odin and Sigurd.

"So I will personally throw you a party for my son's first kill. May you bless my son; he will be a war god on the battlefield."

Sigurd listened to his mother's words; he was so speechless he couldn't even say he wanted to stay. He thought his mother might be worried about his safety, but instead she was throwing a party for his first kill.

But deep down, he knew she was worried; after all, she had lost two sons, but she liked to hide her pain with humor.

Bestla came in front of Sigurd.

"Youngest, you are running everywhere. You went travelling for a few years, then you came back. Now don't even think about going out of Asgard."

Sigurd looked at his mother.

"Mother, don't worry. For at least a few centuries, I won't be going anywhere. Now let's go from here, otherwise everyone is going to laugh."

Bestla heard her son's words, and there was deep relief in her eyes.

"Let's go today. I am going to cook personally for everyone, so don't try to run. Especially you, Odin, don't think you can run away just because you're married."

Then she came near Frigga.

"Frigga, let's go. I will teach you that favourite thing Odin likes."

Sigurd heard his mother, but he knew he couldn't escape. Although they were immortal, his mother liked to cook for her children when she was very happy.

Odin himself was helpless; even his father couldn't speak in front of his mother. So where did he get the courage?

This is what family looks like. Sigurd felt very satisfied with his present life. Although he couldn't remember his past life, he thought this was the best thing to have happened to him—to be born as Sigurd Borson.

Although there were great responsibilities and future threats, what he lived right now was the best part of life. After all, struggle would always be there, but having a family who loved you was the best.

Then he thought of the enemies Asgard would face in the future.

"They'd better not destroy my family's peace."

Three days passed just like that.

Sigurd looked at the three people standing in the middle of the fighting area, where crowds were cheering for their favourite warrior.

He saw that a lot of people from Vanir had also come to support Heimdall. This move was also meant to increase the bonding between both sides.

"Brother, your chosen warriors are going to lose. You know that, right?"

Sigurd said to his brother with a smirk.

Odin looked at his brother's face but didn't want to speak. His wife had already told him about Heimdall's power, and he knew no one was better than him to be the guardian of the Bifrost.

He looked at the three figures fighting with each other and saw that Heimdall was a good fighter. He could see that Heimdall could easily sense the position of an enemy's strike. Still, all three candidates were of the same calibre, but Heimdall had the upper hand.

The competition wasn't only about fighting but also about their unique power, which would help in guarding the Bifrost.

"Agnar the Fierce, an Asgardian warrior in the army, has the strongest lungs, which help him blow the Dragon Horn of Asgard for warnings.

"Gotron the Agile, as his name says, is very agile and quick in movement. He also defeated seven storm giants with his power.

"Heimdall of Vanir, a Vanir warrior with super strength, can see as far as creation exists. He is the son of the Nine Goddesses."

As the announcer introduced the powers of each one, the Asgardian citizens at first thought Agnar the Fierce would be the guardian. But when they heard of Heimdall's power, they knew he was the perfect choice.

Odin stood up from his position.

"Everyone saw the beautiful fight of all three warriors. I personally enjoyed the bravery of each, but our primary goal is to get the most suitable warrior to guard and control the Bifrost."

"So, everyone already knows who is more suitable, but I hereby announce that Heimdall, son of the Nine Goddesses, will be the guardian of the Bifrost."

God-King Bor stood up from his throne and came to the front.

"Today I will announce two things. First, Heimdall is the guardian of the Bifrost, as Odin has announced, so congratulations to you, and to your mothers, the Nine Goddesses."

As Bor spoke, he looked toward the Nine Goddesses.

"You have given birth to a great son, Sisters."

The Nine Goddesses looked at Bor with a smile.

"Thank you for your compliment, Bor. We still hope you will take care of the child."

Then Bor turned toward the audience again.

"Today, two members of my family made me proud. First, my daughter-in-law, for her vision in selecting a candidate to enhance the security of Asgard so that we can give our citizens peace. Second, my youngest son, who personally secured a huge amount of rare metal. This will be used both for the defense of Asgard and to manufacture weapons and armor for the Asgardian army, which will decrease army casualties."

When the citizens heard the words of their God-King, they started to applaud loudly and chanted, "Long live the God-King!" Different chants of support were heard throughout the arena.

Sigurd looked at the citizens. He knew that he had a lot to learn from his father and brother about gaining the trust of the Asgardian people.

Sigurd went back to his place, where he started to learn in-depth about Rune magic. He believed his magic would become very powerful once he fully learned to use all its power.

As Sigurd practiced, time began to pass by.
