"You said that you had the biggest section of the fields." I stared out at the fields. "How does one person get so much?" I asked.
"Accident, actually. I was tending a typical plot when one of the beasts that take care of the one next to mine died. His family couldn't manage it and so they offered it to me to tend."
Cuau smiled sadly. I could guess that the beastman that died had been a good friend.
"Were you close?" I asked.
"Yeah, Aeon was a constrictor beast like me, but his family was a lot kinder to him. Growing up, I went over to his hut a lot. My mother would rather forget I existed and there were times they forgot to leave food for me." He touched the stone under him.
"We put this stone here for both of us to rest on whenever we were out here."
"You'll have to tell me more about him sometime. It sounds like you have a lot of good memories with him."
