Chapter 7 - System’s Shop

With hope for the future, Yao Zhi's mood was lifted.

Now that she had points, she decided to check the shop. With a click, she opened it. Unlike the auction platform, the shop could be used to buy and sell things. She also had a warehouse to store items.

The warehouse looked similar to an in-game inventory with ninety-nine slots per tab and each tab could store one type of item with the maximum number of ten thousand. At this moment, she had a total of five tabs in her warehouse.

Thinking about the supplies in her spatial bag, Yao Zhi stored all of them into the warehouse, including the spiritual spring jade bottle and the spatial bag itself.

Then, she checked the shop to buy things. First, she clicked on the food selection list and saw that a bag of rice weighing twenty-five kilograms only cost twenty coins.

She checked the prices for half an hour before saying, "I thought the price of food would be expensive. Unexpectedly, it's so cheap."

Recalling the items from her beginner pack, she realized that the most valuable one was the spiritual spring jade bottle. Besides food, there were seasonings, beverages, daily necessities, and even raw materials such as iron, gold, and silver.

When she saw the price of silver, her eyes lit up.

One gram of silver was sold for eleven coins. One tael of silver was equal to 37,5 grams. If she bought one tael, it would cost four hundred thirteen coins.

According to historical records, one tael of silver was equal to ten qian, and one qian was equal to one hundred wen. One bronze coin was one wen.

So, if she bought silver from the shop and exchanged it for coins, she could earn a huge profit by auctioning it off on the platform.

As she reached this conclusion, she couldn't help but burst out laughing. But the silver sold on the platform was 99,99% pure. She had to find out the purity of the silver used in this era before buying any.

Since she had money now, she bought some seasonings such as salt, sugar, soy sauce, fish sauce, sesame oil, and more.

Then, she bought a cheap soap bar for washing clothes and hands, shampoo, body soap, and facial soap. She also bought toothpaste and a pack toothbrush. When she was done, she had spent 67 points. After shopping, she still had 1,233 points left.

Feeling satisfied, she closed the system and focused on extracting the lard. Half an hour later, the lard was ready. She cleaned an earthen jar and poured the lard into it. Then, she used another jar to store the lard residue.

Although she didn't like eating lard residue, adding it to vegetable dishes would make them more fragrant.

After she made a simple vegetable dish with lard residue, she filled small jars with some seasonings before storing the rest in the shop's warehouse.

Just after she scooped steamed rice into a bowl, she heard Wang Shen's voice coming from the front yard. "Yao girl, are you at home?"

Feeling curious, Yao Zhi covered the food with a piece of clean cloth before going to check. Seeing Wang Shen holding a bamboo basket, she asked, "Aunt, do you need anything?"

When Wang Shen saw the unfit apron tied around her waist, she smiled and asked, "Yao girl, I came to send the medicine to you. Did I bother you while cooking?"

Yao Zhi shook her head and replied, "I just finished making lunch."

The moment Wang Shen heard this, her smile brightened as she said, "Yao girl, I'm going to visit my son. Do you want to visit your husband? We can go together."

Just thinking about walking so far already made Yao Zhi feel tired. "Aunt, I'm afraid I will disturb my husband. It's better for me not to go," she refused without hesitation.

Wang Shen thought she was embarrassed about what happened before and afraid to go. She understood her worries, but since Yao Zhi had married Fu Chen'an, she couldn't avoid him forever.

"Yao girl, your husband is worried about you, but he can't come back. If you visit him today, he will be more at ease after seeing you doing well," she tried to persuade her.

Thinking about her nominal husband's high-risk job, Yao Zhi hesitated for a moment before nodding. "Then please wait for a moment, Aunt. I will cook two more dishes for him."

As soon as she heard this, Wang Shen beamed and took out a bowl of medicine from her bamboo basket. She handed it to her and said, "Okay, take your time."

Looking at the black concoction, Yao Zhi took a deep breath, and finished the medicine in several gulps. Afterward, she returned the bowl to Wang Shen and went to the kitchen.

Wang Shen had never seen Yao Zhi cook, so she followed her to the kitchen.

Seeing this, Yao Zhi poured a cup of water for her and pointed at a small tool in the kitchen. "Aunt, you can sit here while I go cook."

"You go do your thing," Wang Shen nodded and accepted the bamboo cup.

With her sitting there, Yao Zhi used an earthen jar as a cover and took out a slab of pork belly from the shop's warehouse.

The moment Wang Shen saw the pork belly, she was surprised. She glanced at Yao Zhi and sighed.

Indeed, she was too young to know how to live frugally. Using so much meat for one meal, her husband would have to sell his underwear to feed her!

Not knowing what Wang Shen was thinking, Yao Zhi cut the meat and braised it. At the same time, she used an iron pot to make soup. She bought three eggs from the shop for one coin. Since the ingredients were cheap, she was generous.

She cracked the eggs into a bowl and beat them before she poured them into the soup while stirring slowly. After adding some green onions, the egg drop soup was ready.
