Chapter 310: Mad Black!

Black was furious and miserable all at once as a storm of chaotic thoughts crashed through his mind.

The next second, he felt a light tap on his head — Darren's hand.

"Woof! Woof! Woof!"

Look at this! Look!

This little Voldemort is already patting dogs at such a young age. He's definitely not a good person!

"You… stop yelling, there are so many people watching!"

Darren said helplessly.

This Black was absolutely insane.

Ever since Darren mentioned he was in Slytherin, he had turned into a completely different person — no, a completely different dog.

He was barking like mad at him, and if he weren't being held, he might've tried to bite him already.

People in the street were starting to look over.

Most of them had disgusted expressions.

Not at Darren.

At Black.

Because Black's current appearance — a huge black dog — was considered extremely ominous by the wizarding world.

A symbol of misfortune.

"Woof! Woof! Woof!"

Black didn't understand any of that.

Hearing Darren's voice, he thought Darren was scared, so he barked even louder — desperately hoping that some wizard would jump in and "rescue" him from this Slytherin child.

And right in Black's expectant gaze—

That same male wizard from earlier reappeared.

He looked at Darren, awkward, and said, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I was only joking earlier. My name is Salazar .

Honestly, I think all four houses are the same — especially after graduation. And there are some very excellent Slytherins!"

Salazar?

Darren remembered the system saying Salazar Slytherin wasn't dead.

Could this man be him?

He didn't say it aloud.

Instead he simply looked surprised.

"Hello, Salazar. You share a name with our Slytherin founder.

And of course, we Slytherins are wonderful — my housemates are all very kind, simply the most adorable classmates in the world!"

[Ding, Fatherhood Value +20]

[Ding, Fatherhood Value +10]

[bite...…]

…Fantastic.

So Slytherins aren't even worthy of the word kind now?

And Salazar — Darren literally praised your house, your founder, your students.

How are you not even a little moved?

Of course, that was all internal.

Darren kept his cheerful expression.

Meanwhile, Salazar's mouth twitched.

Him.

He absolutely wasn't going with this kid!

"Woof! Woof! Woof!"

Save this dog!

Someone, anyone!

There are onlookers everywhere — how can everyone just stand there while this poor dog is suffering?!

How can you all be this heartless?!

Black's cries finally worked.

Besides Salazar, other witches began speaking up.

Black was instantly excited.

But then he heard one of the witches say with clear delight:

"You must be Darren Potter, right? I've heard all about you. I like you very much. After learning about your story, I cried for a long time and even wrote you a letter."

"But Dumbledore forbade me from bothering you… thankfully, you seem well now."

"However, this kind of dog is very unlucky. Give it to me—I'll throw it out for you."

"You're still just a child. If it bullies you or bites you, I'll be heartbroken!"

The witch looked at Darren with concern.

She didn't even glance at Black.

Any other dog, she might have looked at twice—

but a big black dog like this?

Just looking felt unlucky.

Black's expression twisted into a hideous grimace.

A woman completely intoxicated by this boy!

"Don't worry, everyone… I'm quite capable. And I don't plan to stay with him long."

"I just wanted to take him somewhere quiet and give him some food. He's so thin—clearly starving."

"I know the color black symbolizes misfortune and bad luck, but he's still a life. I couldn't just watch him die."

"I'll be back soon."

[Ding, Fatherhood Value +100]

Darren accepted the Father Value.

Then he picked Black up with both hands.

Black immediately used his tail to cover his backside.

He furiously cursed this little brat in his mind for being so vicious.

He nearly got himself censored!

"Woof! Woof! Woof!!"

Black was enraged.

He barked madly at Darren.

Darren just patted his head soothingly.

"All right, all right, you troublemaker."

He sighed and carried Black toward a quieter alley.

Salazar didn't interfere this time.

He'd realized the child was still completely unbothered.

Impressive.

No wonder this kid wasn't afraid of anything—he was strong.

And that Animagus who supposedly hurt Darren?

Impossible.

The Animagus couldn't even escape the boy's grip.

Salazar muttered a few complaints under his breath.

Then he slipped away.

Enough of this.

He needed to return to his studies.

He had even promised to answer the boy's questions later.

What a nuisance.

After so many years, he suddenly had to study Refined Magic Theory again.

That voice echoed everywhere, describing that place…

Salazar left quickly.

Meanwhile, Black—carried deeper into the alley—was utterly despairing.

Oh no.

He was going to die a terrible death.

This little brat was going to torture him.

This was karma.

They had bullied Snotnose back then, and now Darren of Slytherin wanted revenge.

"Seriously? I just brought you here, and you're this scared? Do I look that fierce?"

Darren touched his own face, confused.

He was genuinely starting to wonder if he looked intimidating.

Black curled his lips.

How could this kid look fierce?

He looked too much like Lily—handsome, soft features, gentle expression.

Especially his eyes.

If you were a girl, you'd probably drown in that gaze.

Fierce?

With a face like this?

Even if he got angry, it wouldn't be scary.

But…

Black was terrified.

Especially after learning Darren was from Slytherin.

He couldn't help associating him with Voldemort.

Even if he did look frustratingly handsome.

No—handsome??

Annoying! Annoying was the right word!

Black was furious with himself.

How could he even think this brat was handsome?

He should get rid of him as soon as possible!

He briefly considered transforming into human form just to scare him away.

But if he transformed and still couldn't beat the kid…

He might genuinely become socially withdrawn.

Plus, if he appeared in his human form right now, the Ministry of Magic would immediately arrest him.

He wasn't ready to turn himself in.

Black's eyes darted back and forth, looking for an escape.

Just then—

something incredibly fragrant drifted past his nose.

His mouth started watering uncontrollably.

He hadn't had a decent meal in days, scavenging only garbage.

"Try it. See if you like it."

A gentle voice, tinged with laughter.

Sirius almost opened his mouth instinctively.

But then he remembered—

the kid was a Slytherin.

How could food from a Slytherin be safe?

Maybe there was poison in it.

Maybe he'd die in agony after eating it.

"Woof! Woof!!"

Black barked wildly, knocking the food out of Darren's hand with his paw.

"Why? You seem starving. Why won't you eat?"

Darren's voice was full of confusion and innocence.

Black found it nauseating.

Why should he eat it?

This brat definitely poisoned him.

"How about this."

Darren patted his head softly.

"Is it because you don't like this food? I'll take you to buy something better."

"Actually… I'm hungry too, but I'm out of money…"

He pulled a few Galleons from his pocket, looking helpless.

"This is all I have left. I still need to buy my books. After that, whatever I have left—I'll use it to get you food."

Black froze.

How many Galleons?

How could this kid be so poor?

Wasn't the Potter family wealthy?

Even if all their businesses fell apart after James and Lily died—

Surely the child wouldn't be down to a handful of Galleons?

But he was a dog now.

He couldn't speak.

And he was convinced Darren was pretending.

So he quietly looked around again, planning his escape.

"We'll go out now, buy the books, then buy your food. But we can't leave you here alone."

Black's eyes lit up.

The kid was leaving to buy books?

Perfect.

Hurry up.

As soon as the kid walked out of sight—

he would run.

And he wouldn't return to Diagon Alley again before school started.

Black gently lifted his paws and even rubbed his head against Darren's arm, trying to act obedient.

See?

He was so well-behaved.

So this kid should hurry up and leave!

If he had to spend another second with this child, he'd be Dog Forever
