Chapter 13 - [13]: Midterm Exam

Time flew by like a white steed, and the day of the exams arrived before Akira knew it.

This was the first major event he had faced since transmigrating, and before this, aside from accompanying Wakana to make clothes, he had been in a state of adaptation, not even communicating with his classmates.

Although it was already university, he felt the pace was pretty much the same as in his previous life.

Wakana, like him, was part of the after-school group, and the two of them shared the same work rhythm.

Akira was constantly leveling up his skills through his after-school part-time job, while Wakana was slowly bringing clothes that only existed in games into reality.

The two of them shared a unique tacit understanding.

Akira patted Wakana, who was looking down at his textbook. "How are your exam preparations going?"

A hint of helplessness appeared on Wakana's face. "I didn't have quite enough time to review, but luckily, with Akira-kun's help, my grades should be maintainable this time."

After speaking, Wakana lightly patted his neck to clear his head.

May 22nd, Tuesday, Exams.

The exams Akira had been preparing for since his transmigration had finally arrived.

The exams lasted for four days, from Tuesday, May 22nd, to Friday, May 25th.

Three exams would be held every morning.

The first-year university students at Akira's university were taking Mathematics 1 today, a subject in which Akira excelled.

Ever since his reading skill had leveled up, he always had strange intuitions when solving problems, especially math problems.

This ability had greatly helped him in his mathematics studies.

The exam room was quiet and still. The teacher walked in gracefully with a stack of test papers and answer sheets. When the starting bell officially rang, the test papers and answer sheets on the podium were slowly handed out to the waiting students.

The sound of rustling papers, the scratching of pens, and the fluctuating breathing due to the difficulty of the test filled the classroom for a moment before it returned to silence.

Akira received the test paper and scanned all the question types, finding that they weren't innovative, and immediately had a good idea of what to expect.

As usual, the beginning consisted of multiple-choice questions based on basic concepts, which Akira filled out calmly and unhurriedly.

He knew he had a tendency to be careless, so instead of checking at the end, it was better to be careful from the start.

Then came the application of mathematical knowledge, including trigonometric functions and solving equations.

Akira didn't find the questions difficult; all the knowledge points tested were within his review material and had long been thoroughly considered in his mind, becoming second nature.

When the bell for the end of the exam rang, Akira finally breathed a sigh of relief and handed his test paper to the teacher who came to his seat to collect it.

He rested for 15 minutes before preparing for the Basic Biology exam.

After Basic Biology, it was Health.

When the final bell rang, Akira wiped the sweat from his forehead and let out a sigh of relief, feeling as if a great weight had been lifted.

His persona as a university academic ace was finally maintained.

Although this was just a small goal, he had successfully achieved it through his continuous persistence.

Akira's heart was filled with an uncontrollable sense of pleasant surprise.

After the exams, there were no more classes in the afternoon. Akira walked up to Wakana, who was still in a daze at his seat, and lightly tapped his desk.

"Wakana, what are your plans next?"

Wakana stiffly raised his head. "Go home, make clothes."

Seeing Wakana's face full of fatigue and despair, Akira somewhat wanted to tell him the truth.

But the thought was dismissed in an instant—how could a boy retreat in the face of difficulty?

After all, Wakana had already made up his mind to finish the cosplay outfit in two weeks, and there would be no benefit in exposing this misunderstanding now.

He could tell that the reason Wakana was still holding on was the drive to finish the clothes; once that drive dissipated, it would be difficult to muster it again.

Marin, stretching after the exam, saw the two talking and walked over. "Gojo-kun, Akira-kun."

"Hello, Kitagawa-san!" Akira said with a smile. "How did your exams go?"

"Ah, I'm the type who crams at the last minute! As long as I pass this exam, it's fine! I don't have that many demands." Marin laughed heartily and openly, then turned her head and said, "How about you, Gojo-kun? How did you do?"

"Eh?" Wakana remembered what Akira had told him last week about pursuing Marin, and he somewhat dared not look into Kitagawa's eyes. Lowering his head, he said, "It... it was fine, no problems."

Marin looked at Wakana with a puzzled expression. "Gojo-kun, what's wrong? Why are you looking down? Is something the matter?"

"No, nothing! It's my own problem," Wakana said softly.

"Kitagawa-san, stop teasing Wakana. He's already shy," Akira laughed heartily. "He doesn't even dare to look into your eyes."

"Akira-kun!" Wakana struggled.

"Eh?" A mischievous smile appeared on Marin's face. "Does Gojo-kun think I'm too beautiful? Are you so shy that you can't even look up at me?"

"Gojo-kun! Gojo-kun! Look at me!" Kitagawa's sultry voice rang in Wakana's ears.

Come and show Gojo-kun the charm of an adult woman!

Akira watched the two of them converse as if no one else was around, momentarily unable to distinguish whether he was in reality or in front of a screen.

Why can't you two get along so harmoniously?

"Kitagawa-san, stop teasing me!" Wakana shrieked.

Seeing white smoke gradually rising from Wakana's head, Marin finally reacted. "This can't be real!"

"Why is his reaction so strong?!" Marin looked shocked.

Seeing the two, who had already ignored him, Akira couldn't help but advise, "Wakana, aren't you still going home?"

"Yes!" Wakana immediately straightened up, remembering the important matter, and the blush on his face slowly faded as he sternly began to pack his things.

"Sorry, Kitagawa-san, I still have things to do." He then left with his backpack.

Marin watched as Wakana, whom she had just been teasing, left the classroom in a hurry, like a changed person.

"Sugoi, that was fast," Kitagawa exclaimed.

"Indeed," Akira sighed. He also greatly admired someone as diligent as Wakana.

"Akira-kun, are you friends with Gojo-kun?" Marin turned her head and asked.

"Yes."

"Then do you know what Gojo-kun has been busy with lately? I feel like he's been avoiding me." Marin's mood visibly darkened.

Akira knew that Wakana was going back and forth between two places because of making clothes, so he didn't have much time to explain to Kitagawa-san.

He knew all this, but there was no need to say it.

"Does Kitagawa-san know about Wakana's grandpa?"

"Hmm, is Gojo-kun going to see his grandpa?"

"Probably, since Wakana and his grandpa are so close," Akira said, looking down.

As he spoke the deceptive words, Akira felt a lump in his throat.

Time, please pass quickly.
