Yuigahama's phone suddenly rang
a video call.
It was Ryan.
Her heart went to war with itself.
Is Ryan calling to scold me?
Is he going to break up with me before we even start?

But while her brain panicked,
her hand instinctively pressed accept.
Ryan's handsome face appeared on the screen
and all of Yuigahama's frantic emotions just…

She simply stared at him, silent.
After a few seconds, Ryan couldn't stand the staring.
"Why are you staring at me like that?
So shocked by my beauty you forgot how to talk?"
Yuigahama blushed and nodded.
"Mm…
So, um… Ryan, why did you call?"
"As your boyfriend,
can't I call just because I want to see you?"
Yuigahama froze.
Her entire body heated up.
He said boyfriend…
He wants to see me…
He said I'm cute??
She whipped her head to the side, too embarrassed to show her face.
Ryan noticed her slightly red eyes.
"Hey… were you crying?
Did someone bully my Yui?
Your eyes are all red."
That made her heart explode with warmth and embarrassment.
She wiped at her eyes quickly.
"It's nothing…
I was just so happy you accepted me that I forgot to reply.
And then I panicked and thought you'd hate me…
but then you called, and I wasn't scared anymore."
Ryan couldn't help laughing.
"HAHAHAHA "
Yuigahama puffed her cheeks like a pufferfish.
"Mou! What's so funny?!"
Ryan wiped away a tear from laughing too hard.
"Don't mind it.
I just didn't expect you to be this sensitive.
You don't need to worry
I'm very tolerant of my girlfriends."
"As long as you don't cross any bottom lines,
I rarely get angry."
Yuigahama felt her heart settle.
Then, outside her room
"Yui! You're going to be late for school!
Come eat breakfast
and talk to your boyfriend-kun after school!"
"Got it, Mom!"
She turned back to the screen.

I need to go get ready for school.
I'll call you tonight, okay?"
"Go ahead.
I'm about to get breakfast too."
They hung up.
Ryan stared at the chat log with a smile tugging at his lips.
Suddenly
A voice behind him:
" Ryan.
Are you going to breakfast?"
Ryan nearly jumped out of his skin.
"When did you get there, Chigiri?!
You scared the hell out of me!"
"I just came.
You were too focused to notice me."
"So, are you coming or not?"
"Of course I'm eating!
I wanted to sleep more,
but now I'm wide awake thanks to you."
Chigiri called Kunigami and Aryu,
and the four went to the cafeteria for breakfast.
Just as they grabbed their trays
"Wait.
I think I saw someone familiar."
Ryan spotted a very distinct bowl-cut head.
In Blue Lock, there weren't many "kappa-heads."
And yes
it was indeed who he thought.
Ryan waved an arm.
"Oi! Barou I mean, Bachira!
Over here!"
Bachira turned, surprised.
"Hikooo!
I thought you guys were ahead of us!"
"Nah.
There's a 24-hour wait between rounds.
So who'd you team up with?"
"I'm with Isagi and Nagi!
We also stole someone!"
"Oh?
Where are they?"
"They're sitting already.
I was grabbing milk."
"You wanna join us?"
"Of course!
Haven't messed with
I mean, greeted Isagi in a while."
Ryan signaled Chigiri, Kunigami, and Aryu.
They followed him across the cafeteria.
A few steps later
Ryan saw Isagi sitting with Nagi
and another player he didn't recognize
most likely the teammate they snatched.
He gestured for the others to wait behind.
He put down his tray quietly,
crept up behind Isagi.
Nagi noticed first and stared blankly.
Ryan pressed a finger to his lips
shh.
He tapped Isagi's shoulder
and immediately moved to the opposite side.
Isagi turned
no one.
But he already knew.
The only person childish enough to pull this stunt
"... Ryan.
I know it's you."
Ryan popped out from the other side.
"Aww, I thought you'd be surprised.
We haven't seen each other in sooo long!"
"It's only been a few days."
"So you don't want to see me.
Fine.
I'll leave."
He dramatically walked away
Then walked RIGHT back with his tray
and the other three behind him.
They all sat together
and began introducing Aryu and Kunigami to the new team.
Breakfast began
The reunion complete.
