GREY'S POV
I walked into the doctor's office with my chest tight, my palms cold even though I kept wiping them on my jeans. I didn't know why I was nervous, Seraphim had only collapsed. It was probably stress, nothing too serious, at least, that's what I kept telling myself.
"Grey, come in," the doctor said, smiling too warmly for my liking, he slid an envelope across the table,"I think you should see this."
I hesitated before picking it up, the paper inside felt heavier than normal, like it knew something I didn't, I unfolded it and scanned the words, each line blurring before sharpening again.
Then my eyes widened, I looked up at him and looked at the paper again, no, no, this couldn't be right, I murmured to myself.
The doctor nodded at my expression, still smiling like he'd delivered good news.
"I ran a pregnancy test on Mrs Seraphim. She's about two weeks along. Congratulations."
My throat dried instantly, I forced a smile, stretching it so hard my cheeks hurt.
