Axel stared at the beautiful, attractive woman in front of him who looked to be in her mid-twenties. His eyes blinked a few times, and he finally rubbed them.
"Um… my mother?" Axel asked.
"That's right, Axel. You and Desmond are my sons," the woman answered.
"Me and Desmond? Who are you?" Axel asked, putting his guard up.
"Eilif Ramara, I am your mother. I am the legitimate wife of Quentin von Aldrich who was exiled here," Eilif replied, smiling.
Axel tensed up. He definitely knew the name Quentin von Aldrich—a noble with the title of Count, Desmond's and Axel's father, whose position was set to be inherited by Desmond in the game, before Desmond decided to enter the mystic hunter academy and after killing Axel, according to what he told the protagonist.
"So… you are really my mother?" Axel asked, confused. "This was absolutely not in the game… wait, could Desmond have become an Elder Vampire because he met his mother? Is that really the story? Too bad I didn't find the code when I dissected the game and the game developer who wrote that story disappeared somewhere," Axel wondered to himself.
Suddenly, Eilif was standing right in front of Axel and immediately pulled him into a hug. The five revenants behind Axel instantly jumped back and "hissed," like vampires. Eilif looked at the five of them and smiled, then she released the hug and held Axel's shoulders, still smiling.
"You brought some interesting creatures here," Eilif said, smiling so her fangs were clearly visible.
Eilif looked at the clothes Axel was wearing, and also the sword and pistol he carried, then she took a step back. She stared at Axel with a hand on her chin, her face looking serious.
"You're strong, but you're not strong enough yet to fight Balval the Demon King," Eilif murmured.
"Hmm? Balval?" Axel asked. "Wait a minute, Balval is the final boss in the game, the demon king who intends to conquer the world," Axel thought to himself.
Eilif suddenly opened her gown. Axel, seeing this, immediately turned his eyes away. The five revenants immediately stepped forward, intending to stop Eilif from exposing herself, but Eilif only lowered her gown slightly, then turned around to show her back.
"Look, Axel," Eilif said.
Axel opened his eyes. He was immediately shocked to see a magic symbol, the kind used to enslave someone, carved into Eilif's back. The five revenants saw Axel's reaction and immediately studied Axel's face with worry and curiosity. After that, Eilif put her gown back on and turned back to face Axel, smiling sadly.
"I am going to give my power to you. I don't want to be his slave anymore. Ever since your father exiled and abandoned me in this castle, I was captured by Balval and enslaved by him. Every day I had to do things I didn't want to do, and when I felt you arrive, I came to meet you immediately," Eilif said, stepping closer.
"I see… so… this castle belongs to Balval? Zargax's Flying Fortress?" Axel asked.
"You know this castle. That's right, this castle is called Zargax, the dark castle located beneath Zargax Crypt, the castle founded by my first husband 1,000 years ago before he was killed by Balval," Eilif replied, sad and looking down.
"Mother," Axel murmured, feeling a little pity for Eilif.
Axel held both of Eilif's hands. Of course, Eilif looked up at Axel's face. She let go of his hands and stroked Axel's face, smiling. Her eyes truly showed she was a mother desperate to see her son. But then, "boom… boom," hearing heavy footsteps echoing through the castle, Eilif's face twisted in fear. She glanced back at the throne room, then back at Axel, her face showing panic.
"Axel, quickly stab my heart," Eilif urged, grabbing Axel's hand that held the sword and guiding it toward her chest.
"What?" Axel asked, shocked that he suddenly had to kill Eilif.
"Hurry," Eilif answered with a panicked, terrified look.
"Um… but… I haven't quite…"
"Crep," suddenly, the five revenants behind Axel pushed Axel's hand, so the sword in Axel's hand instantly pierced Eilif's chest, with the blade coming out the back.
Of course, Axel's eyes were wide, his mouth agape, unable to say anything. Eilif immediately stepped forward so the sword went deeper, then she hugged Axel, fresh blood spilling from her mouth, but her face looked calm.
"Thank you, Axel. Accept my power," Eilif said.
Eilif immediately pushed Axel back, then her body began to burn, but Eilif kept smiling. While burning, Eilif spread her arms out. Blood particles poured out from Eilif's entire body, then gathered above, forming an increasingly large, spinning red glowing orb. Eilif's body immediately turned to ash along with her tears. Of course, Axel's heart clenched, seeing what happened in front of him.
"Hurry, Axel," the five revenants behind him screamed.
Axel raised his hand toward the spinning, large, fluid-like orb of blood-light floating in the air.
"Absorb all,"
The blood-light orb was immediately drawn into Axel's palm, which was still trying to process what had just happened. He turned to see the five revenants behind him emitting bright light again and looking confused. His status screen opened, asking him to fill in the names of the revenants.
"Ugh… the timing is just perfect… whatever, I'll just give them their names back. They don't remember anything about their past anyway and are new people now. The same names shouldn't be a problem," Axel muttered to himself.
He immediately typed their names individually, matching the faces he knew so well. Immediately, the revenants were swallowed by light again, but this time the color of the light was blood-red. Axel also saw his hands enveloped in the same light, and he felt himself floating. His already open status screen changed in front of him, and his eyes immediately widened.

"Boom," large footsteps were heard approaching, getting louder. Axel, who was floating in the air, turned back. His eyes widened, seeing a massive, muscular demon, like a gym-goer, with black-red carved skin, goat horns curving out of its head, its lower half like the hind legs of a large bison, its face sporting a beard of fire and burning red eyes. He looked at Axel, who was still floating in the air.
"Oh, boy. He's the final boss of the game and he seems very pissed… this really sucks," Axel thought to himself.
