Chapter 10 - Who are you?

Several months pass, and Marin continues her training under the supervision of Ronak, who is surprised by her unexpected speed of progress.

Ronak after the training: Amazing… You can now meet His Majesty.

She raises an eyebrow as she strokes the stray cat in her arms.

Marin: Hmmm… but I still don't know the nature of the Prince's curse.

Ronak sighs deeply.

Ronak: It's a curse that covers his body with black marks that weaken his Mana energy. The problem is that he is the only heir to the kingdom's throne, and that is why the Temple is tasked with finding a cure, no matter the cost.

She gently kisses the cat's head.

Marin: I see… I'll do my best. But in return—as we agreed—you will help me find my friend and return to my world when I finish my duty.

Ronak: That depends… If Rook chooses another lady other than you, then we will return you.

Edgar arrives and throws a bag of food towards her.

Edgar: Take this. I stole it for you… what a kind soul I am!

Marin narrows her eyes.

Marin: Why do I feel like it's… poisoned?

Ronak intervenes calmly.

Ronak: Didn't you say you repented?

Edgar eats a piece of the food nonchalantly.

Edgar: Repented… but the side effects are still present.

Marin eats her food while looking at the garden.

Marin: When will I meet the Crown Prince, then?

Ronak: Next week. He will come to cleanse parts of the curse, and then we will test your effect on him.

Marin reaches out and ties Edgar's hair in an annoying way.

Marin: Alright… I need to prepare.

In the evening, she puts on her nightgown and gets into bed, reading some novels while talking to herself:

I wonder if Lilia is okay… I hope they haven't hurt her. I wish she had returned to Korea alone instead of me being stuck here in an unknown world…

After hours of reading, she closes the book, turns off the lights, and lies down to sleep.

In the middle of her dreams, she sees a woman with dark skin and medium-length black hair, wearing clothes similar to what Marin saw on Indians in her world. Her features were vague, but in her hand, she was stroking a massive body… Marin raises her gaze to find a giant polar bear, identical to a statue she saw in the church.

Yes… it was Rook.

Her thoughts suddenly stop when the woman turns towards her. The features of her eyes were not clear, but her smile was evident.

Marin wakes up at seven in the morning, wiping her forehead.

Marin: What was that?… That woman…? No, no. Just a dream, nothing more.

She washes her face and puts on her clothes, then goes out to find Edgar lying on the grass. She smiles and presses her foot onto his stomach.

Edgar flinches.

Edgar: You!!! Is this an assassination attempt?!

Marin laughs lightly.

Marin: My God, so sensitive! Did just one tap hurt you?

He points to the sharp heel of her shoe.

Edgar: Of course! And you're walking around with a knife on your foot! I bet you could cut someone's head off with it!

Marin sighs and tilts her head slightly.

Marin: Fine, fine… I'll make you some pasta as an apology. Now, where is Ronak? We need to continue training.

Edgar raises an eyebrow.

Edgar: You're taking this training way too seriously. Take a break, at least.

She smiles confidently.

Marin: I want to see the end of this Saintess game.

The week passes… and the long-awaited appointment finally arrives.
