Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: The Awakening of Divine Sight

Hayato glanced at the system.

The three enhancement opportunities had all refreshed.

As for what to enhance, he already had an idea.

He got up, left the main hall, and came to the outside of the Temple's Mountain Gate.

The main gate of a Buddhist Temple is usually three gates standing side by side, a large gate in the middle and a small gate on each side, symbolizing the "Three Gates of Liberation."

The Gate of Emptiness, the Gate of Formlessness, and the Gate of Actionlessness.

The "Three Gates" are also called the "Mountain Gate."

Some Temples only have one main gate, which is also called a three-gate style Mountain Gate.

The Three Gates are often built in a palace style, hence they are also called the "Mountain Gate Hall."

The famous Hum and Ha Generals in Buddhism stand separately on both sides of the Mountain Gate, looking imposing.

The two Vajra strongmen have majestic appearances and faces full of wrath.

They wear jeweled crowns, are naked from the waist up, hold Vajra rods in their hands, and stand with their legs apart.

The strongman on the left has an angry face with an open mouth, representing the "Ha General" who utters "Ha," while the strongman on the right has a wrathful face with closed lips, representing the "Heng General" who utters "Heng."

The main difference between the two door gods lies in the opening and closing of their mouths.

The Buddhist Vajra Hum and Ha Generals are the common names for the two door gods of Buddhist Temples, and they are themselves a type of Vajra-holding deity.

Hayato looked at the two statues carved on the stone wall, and he now planned to enhance these two statues.

Hum and Ha Generals are Guardian Vajra who protect Temples and Buddha Law from external demons.

As long as the enhancement is successful, with these two Guardian deities protecting, there is at least no need to worry about ordinary thieves anymore.

Moreover, the Three Gates are connected as one, so only one successful enhancement is needed to meet his requirements.

"I hope my luck isn't too bad."

Hayato muttered softly; the success rate of enhancing more powerful items was lower.

Enhancing an entire Mountain Gate, this difficulty was second only to the buddhas in the main hall.

Whether he could succeed with three chances, he himself wasn't sure.

However, he had to give it a try.

Enhance!

He silently chanted in his heart, and a ray of light enveloped the entire Mountain Gate.

As expected, the first enhancement failed directly.

For the second enhancement, Hayato, just in case, added a bit of metaphysics.

First, he bathed and changed clothes, then lit incense and bowed to the Buddha.

After completing the set of procedures, he began the second enhancement.

Swish!

Accompanied by a golden light that only he could see enveloping the Mountain Gate, the originally unremarkable Mountain Gate suddenly became majestic and solemn.

On the stone wall, the two glaring Guardian Vajra were even more like they had come alive.

Gnashing their teeth and showing fierce expressions, they looked as if they could walk out of the stone wall in the next second.

With the momentum of thunder, they would punish those with ill intentions.

[Guardian Statue – Hum and Ha Generals]

[Guardian deity enlightened by Buddha Law, protecting the Temple. Where the statue stands, evil is repelled. Those with ill intentions or who slander the Buddhas will find it difficult to enter the Mountain Gate.]

Looking at the two lifelike Guardian Vajra, a hint of satisfaction flashed in Hayato's eyes.

From his line of sight, he could faintly see a barrier formed by Buddha light, enveloping the entire Yakushi Temple.

Anyone who enters the Temple to worship will surely have their mind questioned by these two Guardian Vajra. If they have ill intentions, they will flee in panic.

They wouldn't even be able to enter the Mountain Gate.

Moreover, even ordinary Evil Spirits would likely find it difficult to cross the threshold.

The entire Temple had become half a cultivation holy land, a forbidden area for ghosts and monsters.

Now there was no need to worry about things being stolen within the Temple.

He originally thought it would take several more enhancement opportunities to successfully enhance the Mountain Gate.

He didn't expect his luck to be so good, succeeding in just two tries.

Looking at the remaining enhancement opportunity, Hayato didn't hesitate and directly used it on himself.

He now had means to subdue demons, but no way to find Evil Spirits.

Therefore, he planned to enhance his eyes.

The enhancement system could enhance everything in the world, including anything with form and substance.

Every flower, every blade of grass, every tree, every stone.

But whether this "everything" included himself, he wasn't sure.

After all, the system hadn't explained it to him either.

However, he guessed it was possible.

After all, if it could enhance everything, there was no reason it wouldn't include himself.

"Let's try it and see."

Hayato's expression was calm. Of course, it would be best if he could enhance his own body.

If not, he wouldn't lose anything.

Anyway, at most, he would waste one enhancement opportunity.

With three enhancement opportunities a day, he could afford to waste one.

Enhance!

Swish!

A ray of light flashed before his eyes, the dazzling light making Hayato unable to help but close his eyes.

After a moment, he slowly opened his eyes.

Had it failed, or succeeded?

Looking at the scene before him that was as usual, Hayato felt a little disappointed, thinking that this enhancement had failed.

However, it wasn't without good news.

At least one thing was confirmed, which was that the system could enhance his own body.

Just as Hayato was thinking with optimism, the world before his eyes suddenly changed.

The entire world, in an instant, seemed to gain color and light.

Every flower, every blade of grass, every tree, including the birds flying in the sky, each thing had a colorful radiance appearing on it.

"Master!"

A familiar voice sounded beside him, and Hayato looked in the direction of the voice.

The figure of a middle-aged Woman came into view.

This was a very devout Buddha believer, and Hayato had a deep impression of her.

During the time he had inherited Yakushi Temple, he would see this Woman come to worship the Buddha every now and then.

However, at this moment, in his eyes, a silver-white radiance appeared on the Woman's body.
