Chapter 3 - Dancing in the sky

"Lily!"

Lily turned at the bright voice to see her best friend Ginger run to her. Lily muttered slightly under her breath, wishing she could have 5 more minutes alone.

"Hello ginger."

Lily sighed, her eyes darting to the gate once more.

"Still waiting on your dad? It's been almost 100 years!"

Lily glared at her best friend. She really couldn't read a room. She sighed, looking at heavens newest arrival.

"So what's up with the snake dude?"

Lily knew Ginger was the biggest gossip there is, knowing everything about everyone.

"Oh! He's from hell! Apparently redemption is possible and it's got everyone FREAKED OUT! Of course I knew it was possible-"

Lily cut her off mid rant. She flew over to him, hoping for answers.

"Excuse me?"

Lily almost cringed at how sickly sweet her voice sounded. She hated having to manipulate people like this, but she knew what must be done. Her looks really helped, with her doe eyes and fawn like appearance, most people assumed she was innocent. But when your raised around Adam himself, you learn things. The charm worked and the snake immediately softened his gaze.

"Why hello! I'm sir Pentious!"

Lily smiled at him, letting her eyes sparkle. She angled her hooves slightly inwards so it would seem she is of guard.

"I'm Lily. I hear you came from hell?"

Sir Pentious suddenly looks quite nervous and Lily curses under her breath.

"I don't mean to make you uncomfortable! It's just I was hoping you could tell me if someone is down there...My father Alastor?"

Pentious's eyes grow big, as he stared at the small fawn.

"Alastor has a daughter?"

Shock stole the breath from Lily's lungs as she staggered back. No.... He couldn't be in hell.... Lily felt tears well up in her eyes, and she tried to stop them from falling.

"I'm sorry young one... but yes."

Lily backs away, refusing to believe the truth. Her father was a good man. He ironed her bow before school, he always sang her to sleep, and never blamed her for her mothers disappearance after her birth... but the more Lily thought the more she remembered nights she would wait on her dad to come home, only for him to not return till 2 in the morning covered in blood. Was he...did he kill people? Lily bumped into someone, jumping away.

"Whoa! Easy there flower!"

Lily turned to see the only person in the world that understands how she feels. Her closest friend who is like a brother to her, Quinn. As soon as she sees him the dam breaks, tears flowing as she throws himself into his arms, sobbing. He doesn't ask her what's wrong, he simply holds her. Quinn picks up Lily and carries her to her house, unlocking the door with the spare key and sitting her on the couch.

"You okay?"

He finally asks. Lily sniffles, pulling her fluffy legs into her chest. She used to hate her deer like appearance, the white spots and fluffy fur making her seem weak. But she learned how to use it to her advantage and it doesn't bother her as much.

"My dad's in hell... I will never see him again.."

Quinn's eyes soften and he pulls her in his lap, gently running a finger through her dark ringlets.

"Well... never say never.."

Lily looked up to see a mischievous look on Quinns face. Oh no, this can't be good.
