After saying goodbye to Master Roshi, Broly decided it was time to head out and train on his own for a bit. He also wanted to relax—three years of nonstop training definitely called for a break. Balance is everything, after all.
But that could wait. His next destination was Mount Paozu. As a huge Dragon Ball fan in his previous life, he absolutely had to meet the real Son Goku.
After asking for directions, Broly flew toward Mount Paozu. By the time he arrived, the sky had already darkened. Soft moonlight lit up the path ahead.
Broly looked up at the flawless white moon. Moon…? His heart clenched, then eased. Thankfully it wasn't full; otherwise, he'd be in trouble. Then again, this couldn't keep happening. He couldn't hide from every full moon for the rest of his life.
He could remove his tail, but that would weaken him. As for losing the ability to turn into a Great Ape—Broly never cared about that anyway. Ever since he accepted being a Saiyan, he never once considered transforming into some giant monkey. His goal was to become the strongest man in the universe. If he was going to transform, it'd be into a Super Saiyan, not a gorilla.
A thought struck him."System, is there a way to see a full moon without transforming? Something to stop the transformation or control it?"
"Of course! A genetic improvement serum designed to fix genetic shortcomings. This system handcrafted it just for you. Only one in the entire universe! Affordable, reliable, top-tier service. There's nothing I can't do. For just 500 points, you can take it home today."
Broly ignored the system's endless sales pitch. Ever since that strange "airdrop incident," the system had gotten… emotional. More talkative. Less cold than before.
But his eyes were glued to that 500-point price tag. Damn it. The system still hadn't explained how to earn more points. He had around 800 left—once they were gone, that was it.
"Host, I recommend purchasing the serum. You'll get a pleasant surprise afterward."
Broly hesitated… then bought it. The syringe appeared before him, filled with a bright blue liquid. Without hesitation, he injected it into his wrist.
"…Doesn't feel like anything."
"It's an improvement serum, not gene restructuring. Besides, your genes are already nearly perfect. We just needed to tweak the full-moon transformation problem. Do you need it to hurt for it to feel real? Anyway, it takes around 24 hours to activate. Once it does, you'll get your surprise. I'll notify you."
Pretty considerate this time, huh? Broly thought to himself.
He checked his remaining points—298 left. After thinking it over, he spent another 200 on a set of upgraded weighted training clothes supposedly made by the Kami of this world. The moment they appeared on his body, Broly nearly fell over. His movements felt completely off.
The system explained: these upgraded weights were 500 kilos and applied that weight evenly to every cell of his body. They wouldn't break no matter how his physique changed. Broly immediately stored them away. Something like this wasn't going to be easy to adapt to.
"System, how do I earn more points?" he asked.
"Points can be earned by completing system quests. You can also recycle previously exchanged items."
"Then why haven't you given me any quests?"
"…I forgot."
"…System, let me give you a name. Calling you 'System' all the time feels awkward." Broly raised a brow with a mischievous smile.
"This system exists solely to assist the host. You may call me whatever you find convenient."
"Alright then—you're Erha from now on."(Erha = "Second Husky," slang for a goofy dog)
"I object. I strongly object!"
"Objection denied. Decision final."
""…Tch!" The system sulked in a corner, drawing circles.
"Erha, got any quests?"
"Hmph!" the system said, sulking like a diva.
Ding!Quest issued: Meet Son GokuReward: 200 points
The moment the quest appeared, Broly took off. He sensed Goku's ki and flew toward the mountain top.
When he arrived, he saw a small house. Not far from it, a tiny figure was busy at work. Goku had set up a fire and was roasting the leg of some unknown beast.
That spiky hair, that innocent smile, and the Power Pole on his back…
Maybe it was a Saiyan thing, but aside from immediate family, no two Saiyans ever seemed to have the same hairstyle. Well, except Turless. His hair and face were practically a copy-paste of Goku's…
Anyway…
Broly froze in place, his eyes unfocused. He'd fallen into memories of the Dragon Ball he once watched. The nostalgia made him chuckle without thinking—startling little Goku.
"Who's there?!" Goku yanked out his Power Pole and pointed it toward Broly.
"Don't worry, I'm not here to hurt you. I just got lost. Saw the fire and followed the light." Broly lied casually. Fooling innocent Goku wouldn't be difficult. Broly completely forgot they were technically the same age—he just looked more mature, like a fourteen- or fifteen-year-old kid.
Ding:Quest complete. Reward delivered.
"Whoa, what are you? You can talk? You look kinda like me… even got a tail like mine!"
Broly knew why Goku reacted like that. The kid had never seen another living human besides his grandpa. His reaction made perfect sense.
So Broly patiently explained everything to Goku—for an entire hour. Eventually, Goku learned that there were tons of humans out there, and that he and Broly were the same kind of person. Realizing Broly didn't have anywhere to stay, Goku—curious and eager to learn—invited the second living person he'd ever met to stay at his home.
