Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: Evolving in a Twister, Bayleef

"Hello, my name is Brock, please tell me your beautiful name!"

Seeing the Young Lady run over, Brock almost teleported to block her path.

But this time, the Young Lady completely ignored him and ran to Ash.

Ash had already directed Heracross and Chikorita to catch the Hoppip.

"Hoppip, I was so worried about you!" The Young Lady hugged Hoppip, looking at Ash gratefully, "Thank you so much!"

"My name is Aya, if you don't mind, please come to my house for a visit!"

Aya lived in the nearby suburbs, and in front of her red-roofed house, a large net was set up.

Clearly, this was a measure to prevent Hoppip from being blown away by strong winds.

Aya's job was to forecast the weather; besides various anemometers on the roof and instruments inside the house, she was researching how to use Hoppip's behavior patterns to predict the weather.

Suddenly, Ash and his friends noticed seven Hoppip gathered together, intertwining the leaves on their heads.

This scene made Aya's heart clench!

"Strong winds are about to pick up!"

No sooner had she spoken than dark clouds gathered, and the various anemometers on the roof began to sway wildly!

"No mistake, a considerably large storm is forming, and it's heading this way!" With the help of instruments, Aya quickly confirmed the Hoppip's actions!

After confirming, Ash and his friends's hearts immediately tensed up.

Everyone hurriedly reinforced the house's windows with wooden boards, but after Aya's confirmation, it was actually a Twister, heading straight for them.

Even Aya became panicked, "I've never seen such a strong Twister!"

With a gasp, she turned to everyone and shouted, "Everyone, quickly hide under the tables for shelter!"

Clearly, she anticipated that her house might not withstand this Twister!

Ash reacted the fastest, "Young Lady Aya, quickly recall the Hoppip to their Poké Balls!"

Just a moment ago, they had moved the huddled Hoppip indoors. But looking at the current situation, if this house couldn't hold up, the Hoppip would probably be in danger!

They would surely be blown away and then be hard to find.

"But, the Poké Balls..."

The Poké Balls had been put away; finding them now would take too much time!

"Then there's no choice!"

Ash decided not to recall Chikorita to its Poké Ball either; he scooped up Pikachu and Chikorita in his arms.

Chikorita extended its Vine Whip, binding the two Hoppip.

Misty also reacted, grabbing one Hoppip and cuddling it with Togepi in her arms, then hiding under the table.

Brock no longer bothered to pledge his loyalty to Young Lady Aya; he also embraced two Hoppip.

With this, Ash and his friends had secured five Hoppip.

Young Lady Aya was also quick to act, holding the last two Hoppip and hiding under the table.

"Ash, thank you!"

No sooner had Aya finished speaking than the Twister unceremoniously tore off the roof, and the terrifying wind was so strong that people didn't even know what they were thinking.

It felt as if all thoughts were blown away.

Immediately after, the table couldn't withstand the Twister's power and was also blown away.

Aya desperately clung to the Hoppip in her arms.

"Chikorita, everyone, just hold on a little longer!"

Here, Ash was struggling the most; he held Pikachu and Chikorita, while Chikorita's Vine Whip bound two Hoppip.

However, against such a natural disaster, human strength is truly insignificant.

After several tables were blown away, a large machine also toppled over, and Misty was beneath it!

"Damn it!" Ash held Pikachu and Chikorita. Seeing this, he gritted his teeth, stood up, and braced his back against the large machine to hold it in place.

"Ash!"

Ash's act of heroism moved Misty to tears, but as she tried to stand up, she was nearly blown away. Ash quickly reached out and pulled her back.

His body flickered with blue light as he channeled his Aura Power, creating a stable protective layer.

This was the first time Ash had utilized his Aura Power to such an extent, and his mental energy, which had just recovered, began to drain rapidly once again.

His head throbbed! It felt like it was splitting apart!

"Ash, you!"

Under Ash's protection, Misty didn't even feel the force of the wind!

But soon, Ash's vision went black, and he was on the verge of fainting.

"Chiko!"

Chikorita, who was still in his arms, looked at Ash with concern.

"I'm fine, Misty, Chikorita. Don't worry. Just hold on a little longer, the Twister will pass soon!"

However, Ash's condition was visibly very poor!

On the other side, Brock was standing with Ms. Arlie. They each held two Hoppip in their arms, and by pressing against each other, they were able to withstand the force of the Twister.

"Damn it, is this Twister targeting me?"

Ash gritted his teeth. Why wouldn't this Twister just leave!

Seeing that Ash was about to collapse, Chikorita's body began to emit a dazzling light.

"What's this?"

As it evolved, Chikorita's size increased several times over.

Ash's arms could no longer hold it, so it landed on the ground. Its Vine Whip, which had been holding the two Hoppip, extended once again, knocking the machine that had fallen on Ash away, and then pulling Ash and Misty to safety.

Ash was finally able to retract his Aura Power.

Bayleef was much larger than Chikorita, and thus was able to stand stable and free within this Twister!

"That's great, Bayleef, you evolved!"

Ash was pleasantly surprised. Chikorita had already accumulated quite a bit of experience, and during this time, he had poured most of his energy into training Chikorita.

Chikorita had long since reached the level required for evolution; perhaps because it liked staying on Ash's shoulder, it had intentionally or unintentionally suppressed its own evolution.

But now, to save Ash, Chikorita decided to let itself evolve in exchange for greater power!

It wanted to fight for Ash!

At this moment, Bayleef's bond value reached 160/200.

After evolving, Bayleef had enough strength to protect Ash and the others. After a while, the Twister left the area and headed off into the distance.

"Ash, are you okay!" Once her mind relaxed and she noticed Ash wasn't able to stand steadily, Misty quickly supported him.

Bayleef's Vine Whip was still wrapped around Ash's waist, preventing him from falling.

"Misty, Bayleef, don't worry, I'm fine!" Ash waved his hand, asked Bayleef to let him go, and sat down on the ground.

Ms. Arlie checked on the seven Hoppip; they were all fine and looked particularly happy.

Such carefree little things.

"Ash, thank you all so much!" The surroundings were a mess, but that didn't matter. Not a single Hoppip had flown away. If Ash and his group hadn't been there, Ms. Arlie would have been in big trouble.

Ash patted Bayleef's round head. "You should thank Bayleef; it really is all thanks to you!"

Bayleef: 160/200.
